I stayed At the Heathman with my wife for two nights. We just wanted away from the grind and to chill out and relax all cool. No problem checking in. No problem finding our room. Our room was very exceptionally clean and very cozy. Where we felt a bit uncomfortable was in the way some of the staff responded to my individuality. I’m a 30 year old dude and I skateboard because I do. It’s not a toy, it’s part of me when I take it out. There was a moment where I decided to check out the art work in the lobby and really just check out the hotel. It’s a very beautiful place. There were many people diddling about but the concierge felt it his duty to repeatedly ask me if I needed help or if I knew where I was and as far as to ask if I was a guest, my rugged demeanor is typical of any northwestern man as is my choice in clothing style. I paid for my visit just like the many silvery topped velvet headed gentlemen who lurk all around me. There were other comments I do not want to bother my thumbs to type up. The younger of the staff were excellent, polite and engaging. Props to them.

My hopes were for everything to return to pre-pandemic standards. To my surprise the kindness, efficiency, and overall courtesy of the staff members fulfilled every post-pandemic dream. The concierge even provided my disabled fiance with a wheelchair to use duty free. Talk about a wild ride. When we weren't racing the skaters downhill without helmets, we found the abundance of downtown leisure to be within a stones throw. Rooms were very tidy, and the cleanliness was impossible to surpass. Thank you Heathman for helping us have a great experience. We shall visit again

The Heathman Hotel is a lovely historic building. Well appointed. The location is central and easy for walking around the city. Check in was seamless. Front desk staff warm and professional. Valets were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: The hotel has a book on the coffee table. Take the time to look through it if it’s your first...

Love the lobby library, great place to have a drink. Updates to the room were great. Stayed in the premier king and loved the layout with an extra sink room and counter space. Stayed in pdx a few times during the pandemic at different hotels and every hotel was a little dustier than normal in the rooms, but it’s likely because of understaffing and underutilization of all the hotels in the area. Stayed Memorial Day weekend and it seemed a bit safer and a few more restaurants/shopping were open than in months past. Glad to see pdx rebounding.

The Heathman is a unique, historic hotel right in the downtown area of Portland. It is central to everything and makes it easy to get around. The hotel has lots of history, and a magnificent library. The staff is very kind and upbeat and helped us with every request that we brought to them - from bringing us an HDMI cord to accommodating a dinner request (thanks team!). Unfortunately, the rest of the stay was very average. Because of covid, the hotel is not doing any house keeping and is running a skeleton crew staff. One employee is left to do almost everything. “Valet” ended up being just leaving our car on the street most nights since there wasn’t an employee who felt comfortable valeting the cars. We had breakfast included in our rate, but it was converted to just a credit to the grab-and-go snack section of the hotel. There were very few breakfast items included and thus we pretty much just used the credit on over priced drinks. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite. The room was very well decorated, but small. The bathroom was miniature and did not feel like a luxury hotel. The shampoo and conditioner were in big bottles that were almost completely empty when we arrived. The bed was not very comfortable and has very little cushion on it. The worst part about the room was the A/C. Due to the layout of the room, there are no vents in the bedroom section. This plus the very old system that was installed made it miserably hot every night. Even with the windows open, we struggled to get it to a temperature conducive to sleeping. The living area was quite nice and had a massive 65” TV - my wife and I watched a movie in the room one night and it offered a great viewing experience. The room also worked well to conduct business while “working from home”. My only complaint is that the wifi was not great and kept going in and out. The last negative was that the linens and towels felt old and seemed like they needed to be replaced. Most towels had threads fraying off of them and were below average quality. The gym was one of the positives of the trip - two Peloton bikes were greatly appreciated. If you’re traveling and plan on using the bikes, keep in mind that the bikes at the Heathman are not compatible with the standard cycling shoes and instead just have a regular pedal for standard sneakers. Overall, the Heathman was nice, but it is a stretch to call it a four star hotel. It simply does not have the luxury or amenities found at comparable hotels.
