My husband and I stayed from September 17th-20th at the Portland Marriott in a room with an awesome view of the Willamette River. The staff at the front desk was so friendly and helpful directing us to restaurants and even supplied us with some items that we had forgotten- shaving cream and a toothbrush! But most importantly, when I realized several weeks later, that I had left a gold bracelet that had belonged to my mother, I called the hotel with little hope that they would find it. To my surprise and happiness, they found it in the laundry (they have their own laundry service at the hotel) and had kept it in the lost and found. It is a real credit to the honesty and professionalism of the staff of this hotel. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for two nights in a King Room with a Willamette River view. It was definitely worth the extra $10 a night. It is a well-maintained property and we enjoyed breakfasts in the cafe, Press Release. The only real disappointments were the maid service--we had to schedule it in advance (they don't come if you don't) so we chose 12 noon to 3 p.m. on our second day. When we got back to our room about 3 p.m. ready for a nap the room had not been serviced. I called the front desk and they inquired with Housekeeping, who said we had a "Privacy Please" hanger on our door. I know for a fact that I removed it when we left about 10:30 a.m. and it definitely was not there when we returned at 3 p.m. As a result, we had to sit downstairs for an hour while they serviced. In addition, the sound-proofing was poor--I heard a neighbor's phone alarm repeatedly at 5:30 a.m. then their shower going.

Traveler's beware!!! This is not the first time I’ve stayed at this hotel and while my previous stay was pleasant, this stay during labor day weekend was horrific experience. I notified the hotel in advance that my husband and I would be driving from California and would be checking in early Sat 9/4. For seamless check-in, I purchased the night before 9/3 and checked in “early” per their request and was given the room 902. However, when we finally arrived, our room was not available and was not given a reason as to why. After going directly to the room, 902 and using the Marriot app key, the room number changed to 908 and was unavailable as an app key which led to us going back to front desk and requesting a hard copy of the key. Given the time of arrival to the hotel, I wouldn't expect a cheery welcome but we were not welcomed at all. Upon checking out on Mon 9/6, my husband called for valet via their phone system to retrieve our car. The valet attendant at the front had told us to sit tight as our car will be pulling up in 10-15 minutes. When our car pulls up, the valet, Robin Davidson was apologizing because he admitted to backing up my car into a pole when retrieving my car from valet and totaled the right rear side of my vehicle. And what was interesting is that the other valet attendant fled the scene, nowhere to be found. Also, there was no escalation to hotel management while I was present and this valet was still working after this happened. Room: 4/5 - clean, decent amenities: towels, soap and signs that the room had been cleaned; spacious for a quick stay Noise level: 2/5 - You can hear people talk in their rooms when walking in the hallway and hear door slams; unfortunately we were on a floor where there were a lot of parties happening in some rooms so loud noises into the early morning Dining: 1/5 - modified hours and the grab and go can be ordered through the app but downfall is that it has a "closed function" from 3-5pm daily. Did not take advantage of breakfast but the hotel had that option available Location: 3/5 - Across from the waterfront, near the freeway and walking distance to the heart of downtown but due to COVID, the walk isn't tranquil Service: 0/5 - Valet service was overwhelmed by cars and look out of sorts when scurrying to retrieve vehicles, long wait times and our car was damaged. Hotel staff, provided greetings to "some guests" so selective on who they wanted to greet If you are looking for a mediocre stay just to be in Portland, you could take a chance here but don't count on being treated as a guest.

I can’t say enough good things about the staff and accommodations at this hotel. It’s in a fantastic location, and the staff were very helpful! Some other highlights: 1) great gym, 2) in-house laundry, 3) hotel coffee shop and hotel restaurant were great. We stayed over Labor Day weekend, and there was a beautiful Portland Symphony Orchestra concert on the waterfront outside the hotel…incredible! Would stay here again!

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our rooms were well-maintained and the elevators, corridors, and other common spaces were kept very clean. Everything we ordered from the hotel shop and restaurant was very good. We enjoyed our stay.
