stayed here 2 nights-- very clean, updated, comfortable beds, great breakfast choices-- staff were friendly, accommodating-- would stay here, again-- easy walking to waterfront and commercial street, with many restaurants, shops, etc.
I booked a room at the Portland Waterfront Marriott so that I could participate in an evening social event in one of its conference rooms and not have to drive home late that night. I felt that the room rate was high but was willing to splurge as I would enjoy a room overlooking the river. I was then shocked that I had to pay $49 to park my car in their lot. When I went to my room there was no complimentary bottle of water, instead I could purchase a bottle for $5. Finally, my view was of streets, and not of the river. What a major disappointment for my time there. The downtown of Portland is suffering economically, and this hotel is not doing anything to support an increase in tourists in the downtown zone by charging exorbitant rates.
This property has a nice location down by the river with some access to shopping and restaurants. The rooms have been remodeled but it is an older property. Now the bad/ I always request my preferences and the Hotel should pre reg bonvoy elites in the AM so they can block us into a preferred room type. Not here. When you arrive they give you what is left and they claim the upgrade isn’t guaranteed. Well If your staff was proactive maybe just maybe we could get that request fulfilled. The staff here are nice but don’t seem to care. I get the feeling this property is a franchisee and not a corporate location. Shane on you Marriott. Your status doesn’t mean a thing to these hotels. Simply sad. Do yourself a favor and book at the residence in. Pearl district - newer and some nice restaurants within walking distance and the rooms have sofas and much much nicer - I won’t be back to the waterfront marriott - oh and I booked a king and they have me a room with two queens and NO sofa -…
My flight was delayed than cancelled. Called the hotel, my stay was canceled then they charged me anyway. Something completely out of my control. Thought the hotel would at least be understanding. I guess not.
The Marriott provided a clean and comfortable stay. Frequent areas were sanitized regularly and the staff was super helpful. I stayed for an annual conference that is held in this hotel and I can see why. The staff were available at every turn. The breakfast and lunch they provided were above par and offered fresh coffee through the day. Make sure to reserve using your Bonvoy number. This will get you free internet and eventually grant you access to their MClub lounge.
Hotel was centrally located in downtown Portland and we could walk to all the places that we planned to visit during our stay. We had access to the M Club which was awesome for breakfast and appetizers in the late afternoon. The on-site restaurant was very good.
I came to visit Portland for the first time, and checked into the Portland marriott downtown waterfront. Check in was smooth and easy. Front staff was great. The room was very nice as well. The next morning I went down stairs to breakfast, and the service wasn't really that great. I was at My table sitting for 10 mins before finally I was greeted. Finally I was "SERVED" to the tune of, what can I get for you. No introduction, no pleasantries, just right to it. I asked the man if they offered raisin bran for my 5 year old, and he said no....but he said it's in the coffee bar next door if you want it you can go there. Decent response, but my 5 year old daughter started to cry, and the man said, I'll be back when your ready. We felt very under appreciated here and I can't understand how people can act this way when working!! Very unprofessional, and we will not be back. Stay away from the short bald guy slinking around in the restaurant area! >:(…
The hotel was nice, clean, calm. The restaurant was delicious, the host were excellent. Even the cleaning staff was awesome. The only unfortunate thing is that you have to valet, the parking isn't FREE!!! AND IT'S QUITE EXPENSIVE. But the customer service was phenomenal.
Being a Ambassador Elite Member of Mqrriott Bonvoy I am still shocked and I must say that the stay in Marriot Portland Downtown was the worth I ever had in Marriot group. This Property does not at all reflect the general high standard of Marriot / Sheraton Hotels! 1) My room was not serviced. When I arrived from the meetings at 5:30 pm, I called the reception and they informed me that as per Hotel policy rooms are only serviced when specifically requested by the guest. The same should have been informed to me at check-in, and they apologized for not having done it. However, house keeping was not available that time anymore, so cleaning etc was not possible. Max they where able to do, after second request, was send someone to pick up the trash from the bin. 2) No Ambassador recognition, no special amenities in the room, no “enhanced room”, not even a “welcome postcard”. 3) On top of the above, I was charged 30 USD “handling fee” for some small boxes which where shipped to the Hotel, and which I even had to pick up at the reception myself. At this service level I would rate the Hotel not more than 2*. It must be mentioned that all the staff was friendly and welcoming, but this does not make up for the general poor service at 250+ USD per night for a normal room.…
For being on the river front you'd except maybe some kind of fish smell but no, our room and the entire hall way smelled like straight up sewer. We complained to the front desk and all we wanted was some air fresheners and maybe some fans but the front desk stated they were all out. What kind of hotel doesn't keep some on standby? the lobby bathrooms smelled like someone recently smoked drugs in it. I wouldn't stay here again.
