As one of the few waterfront hotels, I chose this location for proximity to appointments I had. I stayed in #1255, which is an end room (as all rooms ending in 55 would be) and configured differently but looked to be the same size as other rooms. Between the floating shelf bedside table (no drawers), and the ONE luggage/bench that accommodated only a small carry-on (2 small drawers under), and a tiny drawer between the safe and fridge (located in 1/2 of the 4 foot closet, leaving 2 feet for hanging clothes) and an awkward door that slid open one side or the other, I was beyond frustrated with where to put my clothes. The sink area, likewise, was only good for one person and very compact. One hook for towel or you could hang your towel inside the shower. No desk or chair, but there was a corner built-in chaise with a moving C-table that was supposed to function as a work station, eating area and lounge area - the worst for me as I utilize the desk always and most all rooms have either an additional sitting area, or a dining table with a chair or two. I inquired at the front desk about the other rooms noting that if I traveled in colder weather, my clothes would have to be stored on the floor...as a single traveler. The hotel indicated their rooms were small! As for food, this was the biggest problem. The Proof Reader coffee bar was poorly staffed and limited menu (a togo type of place). There were no lunch services unless you wanted to go downstairs and pick up a sack lunch (from room service)...same for breakfast. Full service dining (where you sit down and get served) not available until 5pm - the food was good. Didn't appreciate the bartender encouraging some guy to approach me and ask me to a last minute comedy gig even though he saw the rings on my wedding finger...I paid in cash at that point and did not return the remaining nights. I was thrilled there was a laundry on the third floor and went to use this area...here is what I found: 2 washers, 2 dryers, free detergent boxes (thank you), $1.50 per load (brought my wallet so no problem), COINS ONLY. My one dollar bills were not useful and there was NO COIN MACHINE. Can't make this up, and I was not carrying my laundry through the lobby to get change from the front desk. The front desk could have mentioned this at check-in...I would have been saving coinage instead of trying to get rid of it to keep my load light. Was it Portland, coming out of Covid19 or was this just a brand issue (this was a Marriott Bonvoy, which wasn't evident until I checked in). Portland airport also a big disappointment: masks required but sanitizing is out the window. Makes zero sense that the surface your food is put on can be dirty but you must wear a mask and the hand sanitizers are not in abundance. Lastly, I found myself getting depressed in this hotel - this almost never happens unless I'm sick in bed on a trip. Everything was an ordeal - to get in and out of this hotel, to get to the room (safety measure on elevator was nice, but together with other adjustments got old quick), to get fresh, quality food, to get to and from a room (being at the end of the hall). I did appreciate the waterview upgrade, but no balcony and the window was shoved in the corner where the built-in chaise was. Even the hallways were brown/tan, void of art, just long and boring. I will definitely stay elsewhere next time I visit Portland. Sometimes collecting points isn't worth it.

We stayed over memorial day weekend, and it was busy as expected. The staff at the hotel were well trained and friendly. Having those bottles of water available for my child was a nice gesture. I was a little upset that there were no soap bars available in the rooms. When I asked the front desk, I was rudely informed that I should use the shower gel next to the bath tub instead. Apparently due to covid, they cannot afford to keep individual soap bars for hand washing? I did not argue and left it as is. Next day after housekeeping, miraculously a bar of soap was left at the sink though. We were charged 3 days for valet parking, although our stay was under 48 hours. Thankfully, they did take off the extra night charges. The location is great and the views are spectacular. Overall, would stay again.

This is a very nice hotel in downtown Portland and it's quite far from the airport. Uber wanted to charge me $80 for a ride there so I took the Light rail which cost $2.50 and you just gave to walk a couple of streets down. The restaurant is open but you better make a reservation because seating is limited. You can walk to the waterfront from the hotel or walk to nearby restaurants.

A few issues with our stay. 1. There is noisy road work on Natio Parkway in front of hotel. 2. The valet parking charge is $46. When we asked for options no clear alternatives were given. 3. I overheard a staff meeting where the leader said " don't offer explanations, just say you are sorry" to any customer concerns.

Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay with us. I regret the city of Portland construct affected your stay experience. We will be happy when they complete the nearby road improvements. In the meantime, we will continue to stay close to the project and alert guests to any inconvenience as appropriate. Also, we will ensure our team stays abreast of alternative parking options to provide guests so they can make the best choice for their stay. Lastly, it sounds like you overheard a pre-shift meeting where we talk about the daily needs of our guests. To clarify the topic of the week as you may not have heard the entire training, the topic was about not giving guests excuses of why a mis-step may have occurred. Rather we should own the issue and not only offer an apology but also work to resolve their concerns. In our experience, guests are less concerned with why it happened, rather more concerned with how we will work to make it right for them. Hopefully I have addressed your concerns to your satisfaction. We appreciate your visit with us and look forward to serving you again!

This hotel was just right for our stay. We had a room with a beautiful river view, and there were clear skies with a view of Mt. Hood. The room itself was very comfortable and I slept great here. The location is well suited to walk or catch the light rail around the City Center. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wished the hotel had better breakfast options, since we had much better breakfast options at a different Marriott property on this trip.
