Great stay, people were very helpful. The hotel is beautiful and clean. I would stay here again. I was there for a work event in one of their ballrooms and it was spectacular as well. The wine was fantastic.
Fantastic staff, quality rooms, location and attention to detail make this bespoke and lovingly cared for 'old dame' of Portland a gem of a stay. On top, easy access to Jakes seals the deal. Close walk to eats, stores and Powell's makes this a PDX landmark.
Pretty good, but... 1) room 513 is below some very noisy equipment on roof (probably a/c) so we were moved to room 520 (inward facing, and quiet) as far as external noises. Nice room. 2) however, the room forced air heater was quite loud and came on suddenly (rather like someone turning on a hair-drier right beside you when you are fast asleep, suddenly you are awake!) 3) the wifi is totally unacceptable. Unsecured (despite what the front desk says) and it is a known problem ... see other Tripadvisor travelers' comments.
First time in Portland and our stay was 10/10. The location was great super close to lots of bars and restaurants. Room was a tad bit outdated, but beautiful hotel overall. As was the bar in the lobby. We loved the club vibe on the weekend. The staff was awesome. Marco was incredibly helpful and funny, very witty lol! Erlind and Dylan were also kind and insightful. We will definitely be back in the future.
I found the sentinel to be a great boutique hotel choice. Stayed in a corner room with a fireplace. The room was nice, had very comfortable chairs, a fantastic bed with a huge number of pillows, The hotel is attached to a nice steakhouse too. Will be back!
Heart of downtown Portland, classic architecture from the early 20th Century. Ornate ceilings, grand ballrooms, very artistic decor. Sleeping rooms are small but comfortable with high ceilings. Front desk staff was friendly and smiling. Plentyof dining options within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again by myself, but cosy for two for sure.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this hotel! It’s a beautiful place to stay, the rooms are really nice, the beds are comfortable, the staff is great, the hotel is centrally located to everything, and we are very happy here. We would definitely stay here again!
I have stayed at this hotel several times, but my recent stay was disappointing. Overall, the specialness is gone. The personnel at the front desk were clueless. When I asked about the restaurant in the lobby, the employee responded he has only been in Portland 5 weeks and didn’t know anything about the restaurant?! I stayed on the sixth floor and the “room at the end of the hall” had nothing in it- used to have snacks. Oatmeal but no spoons? The coffee provided was watered down. I do love the terrace rooms, so will likely stay again, but hope it will be back up to old standards.
The beds were so comfortable and the service was great. This is a beautiful hotel with lots of original architecture and lovely decor. . The restaurant downstairs has a fab happy hour menu and the food was solidly tasty. I would happily stay here again.
I have never issued a poor review. I am making an exception because the Sentinel has exceeded the worst of my third world travels. Forget any room service. The front desk will work diligently to convince you to get up and go find food yourself. The “Executive Floor” with the sad stale Costco croissants and NO coffee caused another guest to cry. Perhaps the guests that poor in are too drunk to notice anything beyond the attractive and stylish decor. The toilet is 7” off the floor which my 7 year old loved.I have stayed in every” luxury” hotel in Portland. Quirks are fine. The Sentinel is not. Ruined a weekend intended to celebrate a 40th birthday. Management needs a new job.
