Somewhat walkable
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Pro: location, price, coffee/microwave/fridge/hairdryer/iron and board in room. Con: slow Wi-Fi, something’s probably broken in your room (ours was no hot water for a night and early morning, toilet that ran intermittently and non-functional room phone to front desk), inadequate window insulation to dampen Max line noise, limited parking on busy days. Price was reasonable value during a busy event weekend, but you wouldn’t know what concessions you were making to get it unless you’d visited before. Bring silicone putty earplugs to mitigate ambient noise.

This is an older pet friendly property in a great location for events that has convenient on site parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful upon check in and out. The rooms are spacious which was great for traveling with a dog but they are definitely in need of remodeling. A pet friendly hotel should not have (dirty) carpet on the floor! We appreciated the microwave, fridge and wet bar in the room but the beds were old, creaky and very uncomfortable. We would consider staying here again if they upgraded to laminate flooring and added new beds.

First off, I arrived in town early so I went by the hotel to see if I could possibly check in early. They allowed me to check in 3 hours early for no cost to me as long as I was willing to change from a King Bed reservation to a Double Queen room, which was no problem. That was very helpful to me and much appreciated. That night, my room was chilly despite having the heater on, but the front desk promptly brough up an extra blanket, which provided me with a warm night's sleep. I also found the room to be very clean and quiet (I was on the side away from the light rail lines). Only disappointments were having no closet (hooks only plus lots of clothes drawers) and a very limited selection of cable channels (e.g., no ESPN). Overall, given its prime location near the MODA Center, this hotel provides a good value for a relatively low rate.

I stayed at the hotel in 2015, and again this year (2023). It felt like nothing was done to maintain the hotel since the 2015 visit. The elevator lurched from time to time. The hallway and room carpeting was dingy and stained. The old sliding glass door was loose in the fixture, leading to a very noisy room (the room sat right above the TriMet line). The bathroom had cove base pulling away from the wall, and the shower/tub had black in the grout. The wi-fi was very weak throughout the hotel, and staff indicated that requests for better connectivity/repeaters had been denied. Add on the basic lack of a programmable thermostat in the room (just an old fan/heat/ac on-off unit) no business center or gym, and the costs for the hotel are not justifiable, and I'll not be staying there anymore if opportunities for return to Portland come up.

This is an excellent property at an excellent location with excellent staff. The rooms are big, renovated and clean. The beds are super comfortable and the towels are clean, large and soft. There is enough lighting in the rooms. Rooms had 2 big tables, a chest of drawrs, and a very comfortable arm chair. The heater was strong enough to make us feel warm when it was -3 outside. The carpets were clean, there were enough points to charge laptop and phones. Room also had a TV, fridge and a microwave. The bathrooms are big and have good supply of running hot water. Hotel staff was thoughtful enough to put extra soaps and towels etc. Hair drier, iron and laundry bag was also available. This property has its on covered parking space and an elevator making it easy for the elderly. The best part of the room is that one complete wall has floor to ceiling glass window from where you can see the complete city. Was really not expecting to get such view which we usually get from seven star hotels. The sraff, Mr Drew is such a sweet and kind person. He helped us with literally everything from guiding us on where are the christmas lights in the city to giving his umbrella to us as it was raining, he was very polite spoken and well behaved. the border of the curtain which was hanging on the window was touching the heater... so that the warm air from the heater does not get blocked by the curtain, there was a small glass slab externally put to separate the curtain from the heater (photo attached). This was the level of thoughtfullness!

This hotel was very clean and perfect for a convention being held across the street. It is convenient and the rooms were well kept. It is obvious that there are parts of the hotel that are a touch tired such as the single pane windows, but in my opinion its not a problem if you're out doing stuff most of the day anyways. The beds are comfortable, the facility is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful.
The location is handy if you need access to the convention center as I mentioned earlier, and as such it is in a busier part of town with extremely easy access to local trams who do run all night. If you are a very light sleeper and city noise wakes you easily, this could be a problem. Otherwise, I recommend this hotel!

lledger, It sounds like you truly enjoyed your weekend in Portland and we feel privileged that we were a part of that! Thank you for sharing your kind words about the staff and cleanliness of the rooms and hotel, I will be sure to pass them along. Our building is older but we work hard to keep it well maintained, clean and comfortable for all of our guests. It sounds like you found that here. We hope we get the chance to host you again in the future.

The hotel is very well located at two steps from the Convention Center. The hotel itself is old but fairly maintained, having a good price. I advice to take the rooms with the Convention Center view because the opposite rooms will have noise from the tram running all the day and part of the night. I got a King bedroom, very big room and beautiful view, good heating. Refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine, perfect if you want to save money and buy food in the supermarket. HOWEVER, the internet connection is awful/non-existing. The signal in the room does not arrive to the desk, and is very weak in the corridor outside the room. The staff was very nice and tried to help me checking in different rooms at other floors and also re-starting the routers, but it is a general problem of the hotel. Second problem is the speed: only 2 Mbs!!!! Not enough even to browse or read e-mails! I am a foreign visitor and I have not internet in my phone, so I rely on the hotel internet. During the day I could use the internet at the Convention Center but during the night, when I needed to connect to Europe because of the 9 hours difference with Portland, I was in big troubles. If you need internet, don't book here, as this was not a technical problem during my stay, but a problem of long time and lack of hotel investment. Otherwise, if you don't need internet, the hotel is great for the price and location, and very friendly staff.

When checked-in, the attendant said the wifi is fast but there was really weak signal and the signal was cut very often. Eventually, no signal was detected. I asked the attendants to improve the signals but no actions from the hotel attendants after they said they will work on it. Noise from train passage next to the hotel was also horrible and it was difficult to sleep during the night.

Stayed here because of its location next to the Convention Center, and because previous reviews stated that the sliding glass doors could be opened for some fresh air. The location is admittedly good for anyone attending an event at the Convention Center, and the staff were friendly. But the hotel and its rooms are just poor quality. There’s no getting around it: this is a crappy hotel. Stay here only if you get a fantastic deal, and if so know that you’re getting bare-bones accommodations.

We booked for a weekend and only stayed one night. We did get a refund but spent money somewhere else. Very shady area, alot of homeless and menacing people hanging around the parking area. Really bad parking for big vehicles and couldn't get turned around, and they also wanted an additional 100$ deposit to park with one camera and we saw no security. The lobby was small and very outdated, no ice machine or vending machines. You had to ask the only person serving the counter to get ice and we had no idea where it can from. Sliding doors had finger prints all over and did not slide, view was great but you look down on nasty business roof tops covered in bird poop and paint stains. Our bed was comfortable but didn't have extra blankets, the air conditioner in the room had screws partially unscrewed and stripped out allowing us to feel vulnerable. Shower had hair in it and was dirty. A foot long crack across the shower wall from people having to hit the shower dial off because of slime scale buildup. Carpets were stained and the furniture had chips all over them and the hallway smelt terrible. We were informed which areas to avoid and where not to walk after dark so we just hid in our rooms. Lloyd center was empty and nowhere good to shop or eat. We will not stay here again. Don't let the pictures fool you, but the concert was great.
