The staff at the Benson were very well trained and helpful. The location was great. The rooms were tired. Not sure about the entire hotel, but the outside noise was unbearable from room 1216. It didn't help that the window did not properly close, so you could here trash dumping several times during the night along with all the other...

Newly renovated rooms in a beautiful historic building. Great location. Cheaper parking across the street. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Hotel bar had live (loud) music on the weekend. Friendly staff.

The staff were great, reservation exactly as booked. The food served at the conference I attended was very good, although they needed labels for folks who have food allergies. The room was small in footprint, but the furniture and bath were so darned cool... I loved that the windows opened. There were some beautiful rooms with chandeliers and the like....

I am so disappointed with the Benson. Our room was dark and dingy without adequate lighting and reeked of paint or something. When we commented on the fumes, we were told, "sorry". That's it, just 'sorry'. We had to sleep with the windows open to offset the smell.

Somehow we got the room for a week for $ 135 per night, very competitive price for a luxury downtown motel. I had to work across the river, so I rode my bicycle. Everything about the stay was great, excellent room with excellent view, very good food in the restaurant, and live entertainment in the piano bar. My wife stayed...

The hotel is lovely and old. Valet was super friendly and helpful. Concierge was nice and welcoming. Rooms are nice, as I mentioned a little old but I quite like that. One complaint though...the bed in our room was Rock hard. Like sleeping on a table. Cool place though right in the heart of Portland.

We were so excited about staying here as we had heard lots of good things. Unfortunately our reservation had been lost, but the front desk sorted it quickly for us. The rooms are big & clean and the hotel is beautiful! The valet were quick and super helpful and I would highly recommend.

We spent Mother's Day weekend at the Benson Hotel in Portland with our son, daughter in law and grand daughter! Every staff person from greetings from the valet, front desk, concierge, John and Richard in the restaurant and the bellman was friendly and accommodating. You know the staff are happy when they have been there for over 25 years! The...

We stayed 3 nites over a weekend to celebrate a birthday in one of the Exec Suites. Staff was excellent, room was on a higher floor and was very nice. Hotel walking distance to the Farmers Market and downtown shopping. Very close (3 blocks) to my favorite bookstore on the planet (Powell Books) Enjoyed the free wine tasting in lobby...

Good location to the Pearl district. As with any town center, sirens, derelicts shouting in the early hours, large vehicles screaming by, detract from the overall moment. Services very good. We shall stay there every time we visit Portland

“This hotel is very much to my taste. I like beautiful old furnishings and rooms, everything was clean, the bathroom was compact but very nicely appointed and fun to use (good shower). You could walk to many interesting spots -- Powell's City of Books, a cool sculpture of what may have been an elephant, the Columbia River and its parks. Many good restaurants nearby, including Mother's Bistro. The light rail line is a block or two away, i.e., convenient. Although I had a view of air vents, I didn't mind it because there was no noise (industrial view, but quiet, and I care more about quiet). The bed was very comfortable, the service great, the food they served was excellent and the waiters helpful and unobtrusive. I asked for directions a couple of times at the front desk, and they were helpful on that. The windows opened! a rare find and much appreciated. I really enjoyed staying here.”
