This hotel is luxurious to the nines! The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable and the staff services were top notch. It would be nice if there were coffee makers in the room for early flights. The curtains were also not blackout, that might be nice. Really great room services.

I have never left a hotel review before, but the Nines was just an overall horrible experience. While the hotel is pretty and has nice restaurants, Customer service is close to non-existent. We waited over an hour (at 10-11 pm) to have sheets delivered for the couch. We reserved and paid for a city view suite, yet they had us facing the inside of the hotel and could not move us until the second night. When we were given a "city view" suite, below is what we got. Glad we paid such a premium. We were right under the bar / restaurant so we were kept up all night. We had to ask to have the room rate adjusted more than 4 times to reflect the fact that we were charged for a city view but were not accommodated. The employees at the front desk routinely lied. The week before, I stayed at the Duniway less than a block away for work. I'd highly recommend staying there. Better accommodations, better customer service, better views, and dramatically less expensive!

Response from Jean-MarcJalbert, General Manager at The Nines, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Portland
Responded 1 week ago
Dear Brad, Thank you for taking the time to share this experience with our team. I know this was an extremely frustrating stay and I am so disappointed to read that our team appeared unaccommodating as this is, of course, never our intention. I understand you spoke with our Senior Front Office Manager prior to your check-out and after this review was posted. I do hope she was able to assist in leaving you with a far better impression of the hotel. Thank you again for sharing this feedback and I hope for the chance to welcome you back for a much more relaxing experience. Sincerely, Jean-Marc Jalbert

I have stayed at many hotels and none of them hold a candle to the service I get at The Nines. From the valet to the concierge, the service is unbelievable. The valet even remembered my name, gave me a high five and thanked me for coming back. Patrick, the concierge, made our dinner reservations a week ahead of time, to make sure we could get a seat. We were so very grateful to him. Bradley, at the front desk, has made sure I get my toothbrush, that I always seem to forget. Paul, at the front desk, made sure I was upgraded to a bigger room with a view. He also explained my bill to me when I was confused about a few things. He went on to say 'no problem at all', when I thought I was taking too much of his time. He then asked me if I had anymore questions and if I didn't but then if I think of any later, just to let him know and he will see to it that my questions are answered. I want service when I am at a hotel. The service at The Nines, begins when I pull up in my car. I have learned that the Manager at The Nines is VERY service oriented. That may be the diffence between The Nines and many other hotels. It starts at the top. Ibrahim is the Managers name. He is a rock star and I dont mean he gets drunk and makes bad decisions; I mean his impeccable service makes him a rock star. He is the reason that people want to stay at The Nines. He has instilled in his staff that they must take care of the person putting groceries on their table. He leads by example. When he asked how our stay was, we told him about one small concern regarding the person in the next room who left their dog alone. We had already taken care of this the day before when it happened. The staff took care of the situatikn and got the dog taken care of. But when we told the Manager about it the next day he compensated our breakfast for it. Amazing, as it was not necessay. However, he went that extra mile anyway. I teased him a little, as I think he's a cutiepie. I think he was ebarrassed, so I decided not to call him a cutiepie again. Maybe I will call him sweet precious instead lol. Seriously, I think he works extra hard juat so he can prove to the world that he is more than a pretty face. He does seem to have a brain as well.

This is my second time at The Nines and it was better than I remember it. From the moment we pulled up we were greeted by their friendly staff and were able to effortlessly get all our bags from our car and up to our room. Toby, was quick to offer some late night food options and gave us the run down on great burgers (because that is exactly what we were in the mood for). While my husband was getting us checked in, Toby also took the sweetest picture of me and my son looking at the art installation in the lobby. He is an absolute treasure! Paul at the front desk was also able to get us a perfect room on a higher floor to help minimize noise. Best nights sleep after a long day of travel, can't beat that! Thanks again!

Jean-Marc is worth following where ever he goes in his career but we are lucky he has stayed at The Nines for several years now and things are the best they have ever been. That said, under his GM-ship, the hotel has become one of the best if not the best on the West Coast, is not broader. Everything is constantly being upgraded. Beds you want to tuck into your suitcase and take home. Rooms you could live in indefinitely; staff who live their work and create “home” for all of us who stay, sometimes for long periods. Judi, Ibrahim, Katrina... Patrick...the best of the best!
