Certificate of Excellence
Leaving their high-tech lives behind in San Francisco, Dusty and Steve moved to Portland in 2002. From the moment they laid eyes on Lion and the Rose Victorian Guest House, they knew this historic home with its wrap around porch, garden court, grand dining area, and eight charming guest rooms was meant to be shared with others. Authentically vintage yet up to date, every room is air conditioned and equipped with cable TV, free wifi, a computer and printer, and internet access. Each guest room also has luxurious bed linens and towels and an amazon Echo with Alexa. These master hosts are delighted to share their mansion and the city's natural beauty with you.

The Garden Room was perfect as usual. The breakfast was relaxing. The owner and staff was so accommodating when I scheduled the wrong date and showed up a week early. Outstanding lodging and service, as expected.

I have traveled all over the world. I've stayed in castles and convents, homes and high rises, estates and cottages, but The Lion and Rose is and will likely remain one of my very, very favorite places. Such a beautiful, but approachable, home such wonderfully nice people -

We were looking for a reasonable place to stay in Portland. This BandB was in a great, active area. The hosts could not have been more informative of the area. We stayed in the Victorian Apartment, which was actually a 2 bedroom apt. Great for a family or couples. It was

There's a so so Yoga studio down street and I'm sure Steven can recommend where to go.

None that I know of but Portland is a walkable city. We took the train to Washington Park and walked for Miles on trails throughout the park. Dusty and Steve at the Inn could tell you also.

I think it depends on what you consider downtown. It is in a wonderful neighborhood with restaurants and stores a couple of blocks away. I'm in fairly good shape so can walk pretty far. Nice little walk to the Voodoo Doughnut II shop..........The neighborhood is really cute for walking around and enjoying gardens and landscaping. Staff and owners couldn't have been nicer.

Contact Steve and Dusty for pricing and availability. But we very much enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were comfy and the hospitality genuine. (503) 287-9245. To check availability, visit their website. I have stayed twice and enjoyed it both times. Love the cookies and jelly bean snacks they leave out for guests, too.

"Can't go wrong with any of the rooms"
"Basement is a complete studio apartment, upstairs rooms are smaller with gorgeous views."
"We loved Lavonna, but if nighttime street noise bothers you, you might elect a room in a different area of the building."
"Enter the apartment from the interior of the house...the stairwell smells like urine from late night passing partiers."
"I've stayed in three rooms-all were comfortable. Some have showers only and some have bathtubs. Rooms off the courtyard are quieter."
