The Lion and the Rose is such a wonderful place to call home while in Portland. The rooms are so comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, and the atmosphere is friendly. There is always great conversation during breakfast and the food is spectacular. They are located in a nice neighborhood and there are many options for lunch/dinner within walking distance. Kudos... Staying at the Lion and Rose was a very different experience. We had a claw foot bathtub in our bathroom. Truly a very beautiful and Victorian renovated residence. Steve and Dusty were excellent hosts. Very knowledgeable about the area and using the local transportation.

Dusty & Steve are excellent hosts. When thunderstorms delayed our flight out of Chicago, I called with an update about our very tardy departure. Dusty assured me that there was nothing to worry about and that he'd be waiting to help us, whenever we arrived. We stayed 2 nights, had a great time in Portland, and left fortified with an... More

This was our 2nd trip to the Lion and the Rose. Our first was 12 years ago on our honeymoon. I've never forgotten how wonderful it is and when we decided to head back to Portland the first call I made was to Steve and Dusty to see if there were any openings. Both evenings that we were here this... More

I found this bb on TripAdvisor. It was all as advertised. The innkeepers are a delight and the breakfasts were delicious. Also, you are in the heart of a thriving, exciting and redeveloping neighborhood. A must see destination when in Portland.

Dusty, Steve and staff were friendly, helpful and very inviting. The beds were so comfortable. We stayed in two different rooms and both were beautifully decorated in Victorian style with modern day amenities like charging stations for your electronics, and good wifi. The breakfast was delicious and served in the elegantly set dining room. A very nice touch was a... More

We visit Portland often and now make this our base (unless we are arriving very late at night, as they cannot staff for check-in at all hours). The decor downstairs is over-the-top Victorian, but the Joseph room is large and well furnished extremely comfortable (although there is some street noise). Lots of amenities. We appreciate the early morning coffee, the... More

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at "Lion and the Rose." The Joseph Room lived up to my expectations based on the website's pictures. Also, it has a wonderfully comfortable bed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious too. We loved walking around the neighborhood and exploring!

My husband and I, and my good friend and I always pick old-fashioned antiquey places to stay; B&Bs, castles, Victorian, etc. I prefer old-time periods to modern. I love the feeling of being back in time in another era! I act, write & direct plays from old eras. So- I get a big thrill staying in & enjoying the ambience... More

Totally satisfied with the care, class and amenities provided to guests. What a wonderful experience. The Innkeepers are truly great and welcoming. The breakfast was light yet filling. The coffee is great -- just what you would expect from a classy B&B
