Nestled in downtown Portland, the Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland has been lauded for its enchanting atmosphere and chic decor, with daily wine socials adding to its charm. While the rooms are generally praised for their modern flair, some guests have noted inconsistencies in maintenance. The hotel's spotless condition is a highlight, although the size of bathrooms occasionally receives criticism. Its central location garners acclaim for convenience.
Amenities, such as the complimentary wine hour, are well-received, yet some guests mention the need for more outlets. The service is often described as exemplary, albeit with rare lapses. Opinions on value vary, with some guests questioning the pricing.

Detailed Reviews
I led a group of 25 people to Portland for a meeting. I chose the Kimpton Vintage Portland from a list our organization's meetings and conferences bureau provided. It was a great choice. We had a great meeting room. The meals were good and in a nice private room. The staff was always available for any requests.
The rooms were great. My partner who spent a lot more time in the room found it very comfortable. There were plenty of outlets for both AC and USB. The three-sided clock was genius-you could see the time display from three sides. The bed was real comfortable and the heating responsive. He rates it the best one we have stayed in. They had free loaner bicycles to explore Portland.
They offer a happy hour with wine sampling every evening and some times hors d'oeuvres. They are even just a block from the light rail, making it simple, economical ($2.50 for adults and $1.50 for seniors), and environmentally responsible to get there from the airport.
I strongly recommend it for business or leisure trips.

My husband and I stayed in a suite with a rooftop jacuzzi. The view was spectacular, the room was very clean with modern-vintage decor and the outdoor jacuzzi had a small privacy fence surround with a deck off to the side. Important note to travelers: super comfy bed with the best pillows I’ve ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. We arrived late at night from the airport and had chilled champagne and dinnerware waiting for us (we grabbed food from 2 blocks away, their restaurant is temporarily closed due to covid.)
10 stars for service. All staff were kind and friendly, at all hours of the day and night. They had a very real, down-to-earth professionalism that made communication and requests so easy. I could tell they genuinely care about your experience while you’re there.
Downtown convenience, everything you could want within walking distance. Ample parking in the garage directly across the street. Did I mention the city view was absolutely spectacular??
Other interesting notes: they have a bar in the lobby that is open. There’s a game room with billiards, shuffle board, tons of seating with 2 tv’s and a really great vending machine with small local goods inside. We were so happy to support local small businesses! There’s a work area with computer access and a kids area big enough for them to run off some steam, bean bag chairs included to crash on. The 10 story glass roof atrium gave beautiful natural light.
All in all, our stay was worth every penny. We can’t wait to go back! By far, the coolest hotel we’ve ever stayed in. If you’re looking at it, go ahead and book.. you won’t regret it.

This hotel was not only beautiful and efficient in location, but had the kindest and most accommodating staff I've ever experienced. Marjorie and Megan were particularly wonderful.
We ended up having to extend our stay several times due to our house not being finished, and each time we called the front desk we were greeted by nothing other than kindness and understanding by the wonderful front desk staff. I also felt 100% safe during the pandemic, with everything being sanitized and masks being offered at the door.
Offering complimentary wine in the evening and coffee in the morning, I couldn't think of a better hotel to set my friends and family up in when they come to visit.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Not to mention we had a cat with us, and they offered us beds as well as dishes for her, and were kind enough to give us anything we needed at our request.
Again, I believe I need not search further for hotels in Portland. This one has me set.

We had a fine stay over four nights at the Kimpton Vintage Hotel. First, it was very well located for walking to many things in the city. We had been tempted by the Kimpton Riverfront on the water but we visited there and for those who like to explore, the Vintage is a better choice. Second, our room was truly spacious, which may be true of all the rooms there as my husband eyeballed the fire escape plan and other rooms looked even bigger. We were staying on reward nights and I don’t think we were upgraded; we had asked for a high room and got the 7th floor (there are 10 or 11). Third, we made good use of a couple of amenities. The hotel offers excellent cruising (one gear) bikes for guests, which helpfully includes a lock so you can make stops. We stopped in at the daily 5 pm happy hour for some excellent wine. (Wine is the theme of the Vintage, which is a little puzzling because other than the 5 pm offering and a lot of decorations, it really has nothing else to do with wine. The lobby bar was not yet reopened from the pandemic, however, and a staff member did mention that the lobby/bar area is a popular spot even for non-hotel guests when it’s not a pandemic.) Fourth, the staff is very helpful. When I had pho left over from a dinner at the excellent LucLac and wanted it for breakfast, the staff brought a microwave to our room (kind of amazing, but they can’t let guests use ones elsewhere in the hotel). Overall, the beds and bedding were comfy, robes were available, it was in a historically renovated building, an excellent French bakery is across the street for breakfast — all the things that make us want to return.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect with traveling during COVID but the hotel vintage made everything easy and I felt safe during my travels. Marjorie and Shelby were so helpful during our stay with a list of what was open and offering to help make reservations for us. This hotel staff knows what they’re doing in a time where no one knows what to do. Everything was always clean, everyone was always smiling, they even had extra snacks set up in the lobby bar! I've been here once before and yet again a truly great experience with the staff and hotel, I will recommend to all traveling throughout these crazy times! 10/10

I brought my kids to Hotel Vintage for one night so that we could really enjoy some hours at Powells before heading home. And we had such a great experience at Hotel Vintage. The room with the private outdoor hot tub... oh my heavens. What a treat. The staff treated us so well, with lots of help as we tried to land a good place to have dinner. The hotel is gorgeous and clean and the rooms are peaceful and beautifully decorated. The beds are the perfect amount of softness and the bathroom products are high-end and plentiful. I don't know - it was one fantastic night. Can't wait to come back.

On our Pacific northwest holiday. Hotel booked by our travel agent. In the main, a very good experience. On this holiday, we'd also stayed 3 nights at the Seattle Kimpton Vintage. The Portland hotel was different, better in some ways.
Well-located on Broadway. Valet parking for a fee.
2 adults, 2 teens, 2 rooms. Adults were booked into a Queen deluxe on the 8th floor. Nice room, clean. Rather odd that this room had no window, just a skylight, so no view. The teens had a double Queen room on the 6th floor which was bigger than ours & with a window overlooking Broadway. I preferred their room to ours!
Rooms were clean, well-appointed & with complimentary toiletries in the bathroom.
Coffee available in the reception area from 6.30am. No tea! When I asked for tea on the 1st morning, the receptionist searched through a cupboard & offered me a green tea bag. I'm a Brit, not too difficult to have some English Breakfast teabags on hand methinks?
What makes this hotel is the public space & the bar. Lovely, funky reception area, bar on the ground floor, & games area on the 1st floor. My husband & I had a couple of pool tournaments between ourselves. The bar tenders, RJ & Ray, are exceptional in their craft. RJ in particular made an effort to introduce himself on our 1st night, learned our names. He will go far with his attention to detail, outstanding customer service, a really smashing chap.
If I visited Portland again, I'd be more than happy to revisit the Kimpton Vintage.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying here for one night only. We loved our loft style room, it was very trendy and clean. There was a parking lot right across the street which was very convenient, only $24 for overnight parking. The downtown area we were in wasn’t too busy, but if you are willing to walk around a few blocks you will most likely find everything you are in need of; coffee shops, restaurants, etc. I also want to give a shout out to Rhaya, who works the front desk at the hotel. She was very helpful in giving me insight regarding the best shopping districts and which parks to visit for the day. We really felt like we got to experience a good bit of Portland thanks to her suggestions. We’ll be back!

Employees were very accommodating and did the best unter COVID-19 circumstances.
Very limited amenities. Overpriced convenience bar . They gave $10 credit per day . So that got you 2 cokes a day.
No restaurant available so they gave you $15 per day credit at their other property 1 mile away for breakfast only. Not very convenient nor well thought out. Room was ok but what’s with the tiny tiny toilet?
On top limited amenities they CHARGE D $25 per day AMENITIES FEE adding I insult to injury.
I followed up with Kimpton and have received No rep once.
I thought Kimpton Brand was a quality brand . I was mistaken.
I will rethink all future bookings with Kimpton Hotels based on the poor policies and lack of forethought .

Thank you for the feedback walt1111. I apologize your most recent stay did not meet your expectations. While we unfortunately have met some challenges during COVID we continue to strive to offer as many solutions as possible for our guests but understand your frustrations with having fewer options both in the city and on property. Our $25 Guest Amenity Fee allows us to continue to provide personal and meaningful experiences for our guests. Our evening social wine hour, game lounge and morning kickstart are just a few perks that guests can enjoy while also having the additional $25 worth of credits per night of stay to be used on any in-house snacks/beverages and local restaurant King Tide Fish & Shell. Thank you for giving the Hotel Vintage a try and I hope you find a hotel that better fits your needs next time you are in Portland.

From the moment we arrived the hotel had a great vibe. Was very fortunate we were greeted and helped by Ella at the front desk and she was very welcoming with a sense of urgency to make sure if we needed anything we would be accommodated. It made me and my gf feel extra special with our stay over the weekend.

I wish I could tell you, but if your experience is anything like ours, they will cancel your jacuzzi room and not tell you until you arrive, even if it is a big important event/night, regardless of how many times you confirm your reservation. Be careful.
The parking is valet. I believe it was $50/day with unlimited in and out privileges. They would also let us leave the car out front if we just had to run in to the hotel briefly. If convenience is important, this works very well. Not a long wait for the car. There is also a parking lot across the street which is cheaper but no in and out. So depends what you are looking for in parking.
No room service, limited cleaning and no restaurant or bar.
No, the fee was charged upon checkout. Make sure you use the services as you will be paying for them when you leave.
