The staff was always friendly & very accommodating! They were helpful with restaurant recommendations and knowing the rules about restrictions. Shout out to Katie who was there to check me in & on my 12th day, checked me out! She rocks!
I stayed 4 nights for a business trip. Due to a special offer I was able to get a larger room. The included breakfast is really nice and delicious. The happy hour is also great. You can reach many other restaurants within walking distance. The room was spacious with everything you need.
Stayed here with adult children. The rooms and the hotel were very nice, spacious, and clean. We were there on the first night they were opening after Covid closure. Not much was available for use- no pool, no fitness room, no cook to order breakfast. It would have been nice if the room would have been discounted some because of this. We were hoping to stay downtown and walk all over, but it honestly didn't feel safe. There were many homeless people sleeping/sitting on the sidewalks and we saw drug dealing/use in the middle of the day. The hotel is gorgeous and historic. The hotel staff was more than kind.
We checked into this hotel over the weekend. We splurged and did the two rooms with two king-size beds for a hefty price tag of $270.00 a night. Not including parking, the self-park was $45.00, and valet service was $50.00. Ouch. It was a surprise to find that the flat-screen television would be blocking a portion of the bedroom doorway. Using my iPhone app, I was curious to know the size of the door. After measuring, the doorway was supposed to be 32". With the large flat-screen television taking up a portion of the doorway, it reduced the entryway, making the door walkway a 20". The air conditioner did not work. We tried reducing the temperature to a more comfortable level, but could not adjust anything. I couldn't even turn on the fan system. Perhaps it was because the thermostat' was about 20 years old. Because of the age of the building, Rather than upgrade the electrical outlets, Embassy Suites invested in some beautiful lamps with plug electrical plug in's and USB plug in's. Unfortunately, the USB plug in's doesn't work. So make sure you bring your electrical plug-in socket with a USB so you can charge your cell phone. The Covid-19 has affected the breakfast services. They now ONLY offer a continental breakfast. Granola Bars and Yogurt. Oh boy. I was staying at other Embassy Suites they day before in Sacramento, CA and they are offering the usual breakfasts you would expect at an Embassy Suites. The only difference is that the employees serve the food and you can't help yourself to a buffet style anymore. I was hopeful that this same hotel would be offering the same services. I have no idea why the prices are so high for this hotel. If we don't get to use the pool, the exercise room, there is no manager's receptions, and receive a continental breakfast? The price should be significantly reduced. Long story short, I paid a lot of dollars expecting Hilton services, but you might as well stay at any hole in the wall and receive the same services.…
Embassy Suites Note: for some context, our Portland trip was in early March before things shut down because of the Covid Pandemic. It seemed business as usual in the area, but we personally hand sanitized a lot and didn’t touch surfaces if possible, and washed/ sanitized if unavoidable. Neither Social Distancing or masks were a thing yet in the places we ate and shopped at. Our week long stay early last March at the Embassy Suites was part of Delta vacation package - plus we got points for staying there. The property has a beautiful lobby and wonderful staff, especially the doormen at the main entrance. Check in was easy and the front desk folks were nice. I had called the hotel directly about two weeks before our trip to request a quiet room away from the elevator and was told no problem. Imagine my surprise to find that our room was just steps away from it! We were tired and figured we would see how it went. For the most part it was OK but it was weird that my request was completely ignored and we were put near the elevator! Our King suite was roomy but the bathroom was just average in size. There was a fridge, pod type coffeemaker and microwave. Napkins at the coffee station would have been handy. More closet space or hooks to hang coats would have been nice, too. Bed was comfy but pillows were not. We kept hanging our used towels up to conserve washings per hotel suggestion, but some of them would be removed anyway. We also had to keep asking for washcloths because while we were a family of three, for a couple of days, only two were provided. The windows are not soundproof and street noises can be loud if the boneheads with loud cars are rumbling up and down the road. Our room was several floors up and away from the street but we could still hear some racket. There are plenty of outlets for charging phones, etc. Breakfast was plentiful and there were many options to choose from including an omelet station. However, each day had the same items. Staff seemed to be cleaning surfaces a lot which was good considering the CV-19 pandemic. Our room was fairly clean but I did find dental floss on the bathroom floor just after we walked in the room. Gross! We had a car rental but rather than pay >$40 a night for parking, we found a less expensive garage a couple blocks away. There are a few to choose from. The area around the hotel has a few homeless people but no one ever bothered us. Voodoo Doughnuts, Mother’s Bistro (our favorite), Kingsland Diner, Bijou, and others, are all nearby and very good. On Saturdays and Sundays there is a market just a few streets over. I would stay here again given the location and beautiful building.…
