Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Hotel Zags Portland garners appreciation for its stylish and unique atmosphere, with travelers often complimenting its modern decor and engaging amenities. While the hotel boasts a convenient location and generally clean accommodations, some guests have had mixed experiences with room cleanliness, noise, and outdated aspects. Service is typically seen as friendly and professional, though issues with housekeeping and staff attitude have been noted. Despite the cozy ambiance, the value is marred by unexpected amenity fees, causing some travelers to question the overall value proposition.

the staff and room were both amazing. they had so many wonderful amenities, really went above and beyond. they had access to the 24 fitness spa, bunch of games and a pool table, and rentable equipment. the interior was modern and artsy, the rooms were clean and had coffee and waters. the rooms had doorbells and could tell were very clean. there was parking for 35 a night and beautiful outdoor seating court witn firepits.

We had a great stay at the Hotel Zags. The self parking was terrific (protected underground), the room was clean and well appointed, and the gear room was fabulous (although we didn't get to use it because of weather like we had hoped). They were having issues with the WiFi - which when the connection held was very fast, but the connection kept dropping. We would totally stay here again.

We love the art work in the motel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only drawback was the EV charging station didn't work....but there was one a few blocks away that did. The other issue we had was with Tripadviser booking software. There is a filter for dog friendly places but no were on the form is there a place to say you are bring your dog!

Great place, great design, patio is nice. Rooms had some mechanical issues…WiFi was weak. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is close to a lot downtown and easy access to transit both trolley, Trimet and car.

The hotel had all that we needed for a short stay in Portland - good location, safe, underground parking, friendly staff, lovely garden restaurant, and excellent customer service. We appreciated the prompt response and correction of a minor error on our bill!

A recent power outage at our home led us to seek temporary warm lodgings that would take us and our cats; we discovered some pet-friendly properties would take dogs but no felines. There is an extra fee for this service, which seems reasonable, and the room was nicely maintained and updated, though a couple more power and USB outlets near the beds would have been nice. This property started life as a motor inn so parking -- available in the basement and an extra fee -- was very convenient and only an elevator ride from our room. Staff were all helpful and friendly, especially in helping with a WiFi issue -- the existing wifi was basically unavailable but the front desk offered us an elegant workaround. Breakfast is not included but the hotel restaurant offers a bare-bones breakfast service -- quassaints, turnovers, muffins -- that was actually very nice, and there are more full-service options within a couple of blocks. Evening happy hour was a decent value and food was quite good -- burgers and pizza as well as a steak and pasta option, and service was stretched but excellent. Our server shared a heartwarming story -- a family had checked in only to discover the production of The Lion King they'd come downtown to see had been abruptly cancelled (same ice storm that affected us), leaving a very disappointed kid -- even though the menu did not list any desserts, the chef whipped up brownie sundays for the fam -- nice, plus some of those brownies were still available, though again not listed on the menu.

From the moment we walked in until we departed, we were treated with courteous respect by Brian and Mary. Great room, lovely restaurant and warm surroundings on a very chilly Portland night. We shall return to the city soon and will make accommodations with this place again.

Nice rooms with comfortable bed and clean well lit bathroom. Located in a quiet area of Downtown Portland, easy to get to from I-5 as well. Has a restaurant attached and on site parking. Staff was friendly even though they were very busy due to extra business due to the Ice storms in the area making people find places with Heat and Electricity.

Stayed here for the night due to an ice storm. Very thankful for the hot water shower, extremely comfortable bed and pillows . It was definately a safe port in the storm. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the front desk agent ( sorry no name) and the breakfast barista Michelle? And Dave the bartender - they were all kind and efficient in their service. They are all true service professionals. Thank you!!

We came To Portland and got stuck in the ice storm unexpectedly period Totally unprepared with nothing and Books through a nightmare third party website period Thank God for awesome staff like Brian and Shenoa who went above and beyond to help sort it out. Seriously the only bright spot in our terrible trip! Been here before and it's always immaculately clean, upscale vibes, comfy rooms, and quiet. Plus they have free, secured parking
