In Portland for a conference and I brought a give away thumb drive in to drop off for Phil, the front desk nite shift worker. Mr. Kavir, day shift, told me to go to Phil's room as he was not sleeping but was... and here he inserted common street jargon for the solitary activity he was engaged in. Caught me off guard and was of such a nature that it is hard to relate without offense. I considered that Mr Kavir is likely from a society where the street trade is a familiar affair but it is inappropriate to say such a thing to a customer. I never saw Mr. Kavir again and that was the best part of my stay at Eastside. A good resolution would be to know that he was canned or put in a position where his behavior would be appropriate. Like pimping. This was astonishingly wrong!

Feels like a standard mid-century motel. Friendly staff. Free parking is a plus. Great location. Make sure you know what you're paying before agreeing. The so-called "Tax Recovery" fee increased the bill by 35% from the base price quoted on Trip Advisor. As such, the nicer hotel downtown where I stayed a week later actually cost less -- however the free parking did make up the difference.

Wonderful staff and amenities. I was very impressed with the excellent location and the cozy room. can't go wrong with booking here....you'll find yourself close to downtown for a very reasonable price. Also, the staff are extremely helpful and caring.

Rooms in this cool retro building are clean, spacious, and with onsite parking. It is on a street with many interesting restaurants, shops, and bars. Im writing this from a wonderfully friendly coffee shop just down the street.

Excellent location at a great price! Check-in gentleman was very friendly and super helpful offering restaurant recommendations in the area. There are LOTS of restaurants, bars, breweries, etc. within walking distance. This is an older property that has been remodeled very well. Exterior looks questionable but office and rooms are great. Small but very clean, modern bathroom! Microwave and refrigerator in room, comfortable bed. My only suggestion would be to change the old school bedspreads. It doesn’t take away from the room but the photos online had me nervous because of the old bedspreads. Would definitely stay here again and recommend!
