Detailed Reviews
My wife and I made our annual autumn pilgrimage to the Fruit Loop in Hood River, Oregon. But our time visiting the various farm stands was only half the fun; Steve and Mary provided the other half with their hospitality at the Old Parkdale Inn.
The bed is SO comfortable, and we love how it’s situated right beside the windows; we enjoyed the view, the cool evening air, and the patter of the rain! We certainly plan to stay again in the future, and we will make sure we stay for two nights. One night was not enough!
We loved the dimmable, cozy lamps; they added a genuine warmth to the room and were especially nice to read by. I read one of their books while we were there (well, the first 28 pages), and that has added to the great memories we have of the Inn. I purchased the book about William Clark when we got home so that I could pick up where I left off—and so that I will think of our visit while reading it.
We had an excellent dinner in Hood River at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant, and the next morning Mary provided a wonderful breakfast—scrambled eggs with mushrooms, cooked to perfection, sausage, along with some fruit.
They also have a friendly dog and a loveable cat in residence. But the animals are kept out of all except one room. The Douglas Fir Room is dog-friendly, but you can rest assured if you are not traveling with a dog you'll see no signs that one has been in the room. And if you have an aversion to either, they’ll keep it out of your way for you.
When we got home, our cat refused to speak to us because she knew we had spent too much time cheating on her with Elsa, the Inn’s cat.
And the rooms are reasonably priced as well.
You can't go wrong with the Old Parkdale Inn!

I just have to sing the praises of this absolutely perfect B&B! My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying here 7/24/20-7/26/20. This is a gorgeous and lovingly cared for B&B run by Mary (who is the loveliest human) and her husband Steve. We also had the pleasure of meeting their adorable animals, dog Lola (w/ the most beautiful brown eyes) and Elsa the cat who hung out with us in the garden.
After I booked our room, the Chinook Suite (which was *gorgeous* btw, with a balcony and lots of space!), Mary had sent a detailed welcome email covering every bit of information we'd need for our stay, including their Covid practices which I appreciated and put me at ease for a safe stay. Mary and Steve were there to greet us upon arrival, and it was such a friendly welcome! We checked in and were able to relax before an early dinner at Solera Brewing (highly recommend for the Hood views alone) and had a restful night in the supremely comfortable suite.
The two mornings we were there, Mary made us the most exquisite breakfasts: Morning 1 was a homemade lavender sorbet (!!), hot waffles piled with local berries, sausage, and juice; Morning 2 was a yummy veggie egg scramble, potatoes, and sausage. I wish I took photos because her breakfasts were beautifully plated. Hot coffee was ready and available all morning. Mary also joined us (from a distance) during breakfast for great conversation. She really got our days off to a great start ♡
Our second day there, after spending the afternoon at nearby Trillium Lake, we enjoyed really delicious BBQ from Applewood (10/10 recommend, still dreaming about those ribs!) on our balcony overlooking the garden. Then we went out to the garden to sit by their lovely koi pond, taking in the dusk and beautiful grounds. Perfection. The next morning after breakfast & a relaxed check out, we followed Mary's recommendation on where to get the best farm picked cherries along the Fruit Loop (got them!). She even gave me a sachet of lavender that she dried from her garden. Such a sweet little gift that has my car smelling amazing, and will be a constant reminder of our perfect weekend spent at the inn.
We had a truly wonderful and relaxing stay. Mary and Steve really went above and beyond. We'll be back, and I'll certainly recommend Old Parkdale Inn to any and everyone! 🏡❤

I believe there are three significant compliments a person can pay another—one is asking for their recipe, another is word-of-mouth referral, and the third is when you give them repeat business; all three speak for themselves.
My wife and I recently returned to the Old Parkdale Inn because we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit in October 2020. My wife and I love “everything autumn”, and in our book, it is THE time to visit the Hood River Valley.
Last year—in the Meadowlark Room—we had the good fortune to have had a drizzly evening as we read before going to sleep; the outside temperature was perfect for opening all of the windows, and a gentle rain pitter-pattered all night on a tin roof outside. The bed was the most comfortable one we’ve ever slept in; we have an extremely comfortable bed at home, but the Old Parkdale’s make ours seem like a straw pallet. The entire experience was exceptionally enjoyable and relaxing.
For our most recent visit (October 2021), we stayed in the Chinook Room, and it was just as comfortable and inviting.
Our hosts Steve and Mary were, as always, accommodating and flexible. Mary provided breakfasts with my wife’s food allergies in mind.
While you’re here, be sure to visit the farm stands that constitute the Fruit Loop—especially The Farmer in Odell! Unpasteurized apple cider is available at Draper Girls farm stand, and Kiyokawa Family Orchards has a wide selection of pears and almost every apple variety known to man!

I spent 3 wonderful days in the Douglas Fir room at Parkdale Inn and loved my time there. There is also a lot to see in this area and I was glad I booked it for 3 nights. Two absolutely great hikes I did were the Mirror Lake hike accessible from the Government camp location, and the Oak Ridge hike about a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The scenery and views were like nothing I'd ever seen before, greenery teeming with life and so pretty. The rooms were large and comfortable with the great views of Mt. Hood in my room. The hotel and the hosts provide a cozy, welcoming feel and I enjoyed the peace and quiet, coming from NYC. Baseline Biscuits had delicious breakfast offerings. Parkdale town is small but it has a real country feel and the locals are friendly. I would definitely return to this hotel if I came back to this area. It was a beautiful inn and a spectacular location.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Old Parkdale Inn. Mary is so warm and welcoming...and really knows the Hood River area. She gave us ideas for day trips and sightseeing, and so glad we took her advice. The location is at the tip of the fruit loop and close to all the farms and a short drive to Mt Hood.
Mary also prepares a fabulous breakfast spread! We hope to visit again someday soon. Thanks Mary, Steve, Lola and Elsa!

My husband and I had a great time here. Mary is so welcoming, sweet, and helpful. She helped us plan activities and helped us look up which highways were closed due to fires. She provided great recommendations for hiking and food. Overall she took really great care of her guests, rooms are clean and her dog Lola was adorable! I hope to come back in the future! Thank you Mary!

I highly recommend the OPI. Mary is the kindest of hosts, really a perfect blend of chatting if you want it, respecting your privacy, making you feel at home. It is quiet and lovely and the room we stayed in was perfect. Parkdale is a nice town, and the brewery across the street had vegan/vegetarian food. I really loved this beautiful B&B. Oh - and I should mention - what a cook!! I will be staying here again!

We stayed one night and really enjoyed it! Our room, Douglas Fir, has a fantastic view of Mt. Hood and was very spacious and comfortable with a full sitting room, small fridge & coffee maker, very comfortable bed and high quality bedding. Mary is a lovely host. We had a great chat with her over a delicious breakfast featuring baked apples wrapped in puff pastry - yum! We also loved meeting their sweet doggo, Lola.
Mary suggested trying Solera Brewing, a local brewery right across the street, inside of driving into Hood River and we were SO glad that we did. The beer was fantastic (and we're from Bend), the mountain view was outstanding and the pub menu was much more extensive than we'd expected.
Overall, it was a great trip and I'd highly recommend this B&B.

Mary is a perfect hostess. She helped us plan our visit. Her breakfasts were different each day but always delicious. I enjoyed her dog Lola and friendly cat Elsa. 2 minute walk to the only restaurants in town. I'd come back again. Parkdale is very close to all that Mt. Hood hase to offer. Old Parkdale has a reciprocal discount agreement with Wet Planet whitewater rafting which was a fabulous adventure.

Wonderful stay!! Our room - Chinook - was super nice and very spacious. The location was perfect for visiting Mt Hood or Columbia River Gorge or the various fruit locations within the valley. The entire property was very inviting. Our hosts, Mary & Steve (along with Lola and Elsa) were terrific and very welcoming. Breakfast each morning was great and very filling. I would recommend this B&B 100%. Would go back in a heart beat. Thank you for a memorable stay.
