Had planned to hold a significant birthday at the Allison over three nights. It would be in November so we were allowing a lot of time. Several rooms would be needed and a couple private dinners. The hotel reservation person was wonderful. Helped arrange the right rooms for each couple. Very professional. Transferred to the dinning room to get information and setup some reservations. Boy did the wheels come off here. No help. Boarded on rude to lecturing. Tried to set up the use of the private dinning room and was informed in no uncertain terms that we had to choose between 5:30 or 6:00 PM and MUST be out by 9:00. No exception. We understand the COVID requirement but we have been to a number of nice restaurants where serving stopped at 9:00 but guests were allowed to remain until 10:00. “NO” “9:00 PM”. “You have to be out”. No offer to talk to the manager or say they understood and were sorry or anything. Continued to be rude, short and lecture us. It was important to let us know in no uncertain terms that there was a $900 minimum charge. We understand. “You will get charged”. We understand. Not a problem. We fully expect to be using that much. Not friendly. Not helpful. Didn’t seem to care. Almost seemed irritated to have to be on the phone. Maddening. As a result, we called the hotel back and canceled everything and requested our deposit refunded, which they did. We explained why and that the restaurant made us uncomfortable about how our guests would be treated and concerned they would ruin this special event. The reservation person was sorry and offered to see about talking to the restaurant manager. “Thank you, but our mind is made up”. They can’t be trusted. Bottom line is the restaurant caused the hotel to loose several rooms for several nights. They also caused themselves to loose a lot of income. In times like this most businesses are looking to get back to normal. I guess business at this restaurant doesn’t need it. We shared our experience with all the people that would have been there. They all agreed with our decision.

We spend our wedding anniversary there every year and are always treated wonderfully. This was our 67th. Our children have given this to us every year since our 60th anniversary in which all three of them and their spouses attended the overnight stay. We enjoyed a wine tasting tour the first day and a private breakfast for the group the next morning.

reserved private room for party of 15 at 530. not allowed in room at 515. 15 of us standing around for 15 mins. asked to see bar menu for more dining choices. was told "NO!" walked by as an unrelated guest was asking same and getting "no" Brought down mood of our family in otherwise great stay at Inn. Never experienced such lack of flexibility in restaurant, even 5 star. Colored entire experience.
