Absolutely 5 Stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed in the Tamolitch Cabin, which is wonderfully maintained and prepared for a very cozy & comfortable stay! The rustic, whimsical, and fun decor caught my attention straight away. Very stylish and comfortable furnishings, making it perfect place to snuggle up with tea and nice book, by the fire. They even thought to have some cozy throw blankets! The kitchen was well stocked. There were plenty of dishes, in fact they even thought of containers for left overs! We made spaghetti, and I forgot the garlic press -they had one, and a VERY nice one! The coffee station is decked out, with whole & ground coffee, several choice of teas. They have a toaster, juice picture, loads of knifes, cookie sheet, several, heavy duty, pots and pans. The bathroom was also well stocked, several towels & FULL sized shampoo/conditioner/bath gel. Hair dryer, and bath mat. Outside the fire pit has the most comfortable and unique chairs. They are angled just right making the spot the perfect place to stargaze. The bed was comfortable with lovely bedding. A nice blanket and fluffy comforter, with black out curtains, well it was a perfect set up to have us sleeping in. Refreshed, relaxed, and restored, and lovely weather - was just what was needed to explore Horse Creek for most of the afternoon. Lastly, host Alyssa, she is AMAZING. Great communication, and super easygoing. We had a family emergency, which lead us to have to cancel our original date, Alyssa worked with us to find the perfect dates. Highly recommend this mountain/creek haven.…
We've stayed here twice, and will continue to visit for years. On a whim, we came here, because the weather was crummy and our usual cabin was booked - WHAT a great change of fortune. The 3 cabins are super nice, fully stocked and comfortable, with a fully-furnished kitchen, living room & bedroom, with a nice bathroom, deck and grounds (with a fire pit). We really like the people who run & own it, and their prices are super reasonable. I feel funny writing this, because I don't want it to become so popular that I can't get a booking again, but they deserve to be recognized and rated for what it is - exceptional. You're a short drive from gas, groceries, Sahalie Falls, Clear Lake, restaurants, Blue River Reservoir, Cougar Dam, fly fishing, icy water and Sisters.
Gary was a great guide to lead us on this rafting trip. It was well worth the price. The water was "wild" enough to have fun but not so much that children can't go. Gary kept us entertained us with many stories about the history of this river and area throughout the 2.5 hour ride that covered about 17 miles. Worth it!
There were four of us who stayed here. The grounds and rooms are very well-kept and clean. A beautiful location. Our cabin was located in the woods and close to the river. It was right next to a mountain bike path. We are on a bicycle tour and the hosts were very accommodating.
Excellent half day rafting trip and perma-smiles by everyone in our group which spanned from age 7 to 73! Thanks for the laughs and local knowledge to our guide Elijah, hope to see you again next year!
We had planned to come to McKenzie Bridge last year (Sept 2020) but the wildfires cut our Oregon vacation short. This year we booked earlier (July) to try to get there before wildfire season. We got lucky because the preceding weeks were extremely hot (100 degrees) and I think wildfires are happening now (after we left). In any case, we had planned to stay at Loloma Lodge but it was sold out. There are various options for cabins in this area. I found Horse Creek and it was half the price. The photos, description, and reviews seemed good, but the low price actually worried me a little bit. No need to worry though. The cabin is nice. It's probably a little older, smaller, and doesn't sit on the river. That's probably where the price difference comes from. But it's a great place to stay. It doesn't have laundry, but it has everything else, including kitchen and bbq. The location was really good. We hiked the McKenzie river trail to the Blue Pool. We went to Proxy Falls. And we kayaked on Clear Lake (which rents kayaks for $15 per half day - amazing). All three places were within a half hour. The only downside to the location is lack of food. There is basically only one restaurant (Takoda's) which fortunately is open long hours, 7 days a week, has outside seating, and allows dogs. There were two other places but one is only open mornings and the other was closed the days we were there. Many places in the mountains are not open 7 days a week. We went midweek which was perfect for less crowds on the trails but not perfect for finding food. If you drive out to Sisters, there are a lot of restaurants (good food) but is about an hour each way. Most communication was by email or phone. The only time I spoke to anyone in person was when I accidentally locked myself out of the cabin (and they were nice and took care of that immediately). I think this place is great, just as long as you don't expect a fancy, luxury experience. I think this place is meant more for real outdoors people than for instagrammers haha. They also have activities (seemed to be catered towards activities like mtn biking, rafting, etc) and they have a camping area. We just stayed in our cabin though. Lastly, they didn't charge anything extra for our two dogs, which is awesome. So many places charge $25-$50 per dog or per night. Oh and wifi was good. And essential. We got basically no cell service in this area.…
We took our school to raft the river last week for a summer school enrichment activity. Only two out of the 27 people who rafted had any prior experience rafting. Every single person on the boats had a blast and overcame any fear they might have had due to the experience of the guides, the effectiveness of the guides and the skill of the guides. I would highly recommend this company. Each guide knew all of the names of everyone on each boat within a few minutes. Most Excellent!
The cabin was well appointed. Unlike most places, we had everything we needed - plenty of towels and soap, all the utensils, pots, pans, everything we needed to cook for two days. The cabin was very clean and everything worked! And the fireplace was wonderful with enough wood for the whole stay. We'll be back!
This is our second time staying in one of the cabins at Horse Creek Lodge, and it will not be our last! We love this spot for its value and its proximity to the amazing, natural sites and activities. This time, we took the little hike between Sahalie and Koosah Falls and then spent the rest of the day sledding at Santiam Sno-Park, about a half-hour away. The Sahalie Cabin was perfect for our needs, outfitted with 3 comfy beds, ample room to cozy up to the fire in the living room, and a full kitchen stocked with gear and even coffee, teas, and cocoa. We are so, so glad this gem was untouched by the recent fires and recommend it heartily!
We recently stayed in one of the cabins for four nights. Wow, there are so many extra amenities inside and outside. The list would be very long. If you want to sit in a hammock, chair or swing outside, you have all those options. There's wood for a cozy fire inside or outside depending on the time of year. Coffee (ground and unground) and tea assortment.....I could go on and on!! We loved the feel of the cabin and will definitely be coming back. We hiked the entire McKenzie River Trail and enjoyed the beauty...the mossy trees, the river and the waterfalls. Every morning we told the Horse Creek van driver where we would drop off our car at a trailhead, which would be the end of our hike. He would follow us to that place. Then we boarded the van and was taken to the trailhead where we started our hike. We divided up the trail into three segments. The drivers were friendly guys who were happy to help us. We were basically integrated with the cyclists who were being taken to their start points. We have to especially thank Alyssa for being so helpful in answering all our questions. She really cares about her guests!!!!!! This is the first time we have ever used a shuttle service for several days during a hiking vacation and it worked out perfectly. We have stayed in vacation lodges all over the world and this ranks in the top one per cent!!…
