My negative review is based upon the dishonesty of the Surftides front desk. I was required to provide my credit card upon check-in despite having prepaid for the room via booking.com. the credit card was allegedly for any incidentals I may wish to purchase. Upon check out, my credit card was charged $50 because the front desk clerk said booking.com did not charge me enough money. Additionally, this hotel does not have any maid service, the microwave was broken, and the bathroom light bulb was burned out before we got there. Although there was a nice sea view from the balcony and direct access from this hotel to the beach, the dishonesty of being charged more money because they had my credit card number is not worth the stay here.

We have been visiting Lincoln City for nearly 30 years now, always be-bopping from hotel to hotel to try to find the perfect place that combines comfort with an oceanfront patio, has a pool, is adjacent to a restaurant with great food, and is affordable even in the middle of summer. Well, we found it a few years ago in Surftides! We've been coming to Surftides since 2019 and we just booked our 4th of July (again!) at Surftides as we have found that is the best fit for our family of four (with teens). The hotel never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Staff was great!! first room we were given was 101, lowest level farthest south room, no dresser or place to put clothes and my wife wanted to know if the S wall to the patio that was leaning was a problem, upper facia to the patio was rotten and falling down. we were moved to a different room of our choice and that room still had no dresser but a larger table to stack clothes on and a slightly larger closet area for hanging which we made due. The painting and room interior was clean and presentable, newer floors and paint, where I felt there was a need for attention was the exterior of the building, the patios are built with steel rods that are badly rusted and flaking off not good for smaller kids that don't know better. patios also are being shored up with 4x4's and 1 or 2 screws securing them holding up the upper patio, probably no danger but it makes some wonder. also there is little to no cell reception and Wi-Fi works if your next to the entry door, at least in the 3 rooms we were in, our refrigerator had to be swapped out since it was inoperable and the doors( front and bathroom) didnt want to latch without many tries most times. . This review is not intended to keep anyone from staying there, just want the owners to know what our experience was and hope that they can give attention to the weather side of the complex, and other areas of concern. I understand thats a difficult task at the coast but it looks like it has been years since anything has been done to the exterior which is fine unless it could cause injury or harm to all guests like excessive flaking rust etc.

What a lovely establishment. Very inviting the moment you enter. Friendly staff and easy access to the ocean. Beds are comfortable and has elevators which are nice too. The pool and hot tub area are clean and very nice. My overall complaint is not with the hotel itself and after we left my adult children and I were thinking of coming back later this summer and staying again. My concern was two fees added to my bill without an explanation. When I called I was told it was two damaged towels. They told me there was hair dye on the towels. Now most of the time we were with a large family group. Used the room mainly for sleeping and showering. No one dyed there hair! We pay for this service with our stylist. I asked my daughters to make sure, they said all we did was shower. So I called back to be told a manager would call. That was yesterday. Today I called again to be told “the towels had to be tossed” and the manager would call me. I have not received a phone call. So check your towels and make sure they don’t have anything on them if you stay here. $60 charge for $5 towels and time I can’t get back sitting on hold.

The evening went ok. Clean room but dvd didn’t work but they did replace it, then the dvd we rented wouldn’t play. Anyway the next morning we ordered breakfast and they said the computer system down so they wanted card number over the phone , or cash . Then it was dead silent and I said are you there and in his very poor English he said he was waiting for my numbers. I then said could he please come to the door with food and take my card like the guy did the night before. Again , silence and I said “ hello are you there ? “ he then hung up. Our order never came. I called to mention this to the front desk and report that our pilot light went out in the fireplace and we were wondering about our meal , and in a snotty defensive tone she stated that “ we are very very busy” I reminded her that I am a PART of that busyness and just wondered what they were doing with my food . (meaning sending it or not) she then , in a very defensive manner blurted out” they wouldn’t do anything to your food!” I ended that call as I was not dealing with high intelligence at this point. I did go to return the un-watched dvds… I approached the front desk because NO one was there and she was Not on the phone. As I started to speak about how I’m returning the dvds, she again snapped at me saying” can you wait a minute?” And then proceeded to place a paper on top of another one. Ridiculous unprofessional power trip behavior. Sat night was great, Sunday morning 4/17 was jaw dropping rudeness. Also if you have trouble getting in and out of bed due to poor knees and age this isn’t the bed for you. They were exceptionally high for my mom. We had to use a chair to help her in and out. The fish and chips at the Mist were greasy. The two things we could not complain about was the very funny and nice repair maintence guy, Geraldo and the view of the pacific.

This is a great hotel for your money! The view is wonderful and the beach access is easy. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. There were some outdated features, but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our kids really enjoyed swimming in the pool!

Our room was on a lower level but the view out the patio door was amazing with easy access to the beach for walking and more. The room was spacious and had good views and easy access to ice machine. There is a nice pool room in front of the hotel with sauna, hot tub, and pool. It is a nice warm room but you have to walk across the parking lot to get to the pool, but the walk is very short. My only complaint was that they only offered coffee in the rooms, no tea! Good beds, nice bedding and plush towels. A great location at the north end of Lincoln City.

Please if you have a no pet policy- clearly state it on your website and update your online reservation system so it does not allow one to enter that they have a pet and get confirmation clearly stating I am bringing a pet and then told at the desk of the no pet policy . I understand it was changed a few years ago, we have been coming here for decades. The front deck person had not a care in the world. We drive an hour to get here. Never again. Poor customer service. Poor management.

unfortunately they got the one thing wrong you have to get right in any motel. the mattresses are so bad I couldn't sleep. it felt like sleeping on a box spring with a piece of cardboard and some foam stapled to it. who cares about the view or pool if you're so tired you can't enjoy the vacation anyway? I've slept at motel 6 that are far more comfortable. if you have to stay here, ask for 6-7 extra blankets to put on top of your box spring so it sort of feels like a mattress or you could take the blankets and sleep in your car to be more comfortable. better yet, just pay a little more for a hotel that can afford mattresses for their guests who intend to sleep.

It was several years since our last stay and we found the place just as great before. There was a little issue with our room being ready when we arrived at 4:30pm, but the staff had it cleaned a ready quickly. We went down and walked around the beach for about a half hour while it was being cleaned. They have a nice pool and work out area. Rooms are clean and remodeled. Right on the beach - at high tide the water is right below your room. Nice restaurant with good food options. If you want to be close to the ocean and not have long beach to walk out, this is the place for you. They also have a game room with table tennis. Outside needs some TLC as always, probably hard to keep up with the salt water and winds. Decks could use some repair or cleaning, but this comes with being on the beach.
