Relax in a wonderful lakefront room or suite in the heart of downtown Lake Oswego. Guests will enjoy complimentary pastries and gourment coffee, lakefront decks, Wi-Fi, flat screen HD TVs, DVD players, small kitchens and lakeside pool.
A number of years ago, we lived in Lake Oswego. So recently when we went there to visit family, we needed a comfortable, convenient place to stay at as reasonable a price as we could find. Lakeshore Inn turned out to be the place.
For one thing, it's located right on the lake and within easy walking distance of everything in downtown LO. Lots and lots of restaurants, coffee shops and stores very close nearby, along with excellent parks and walking paths. The central location of the Inn allowed us to park the car and avoid the traffic.
The room, although not huge, was very comfortable and bright. Big sliding doors overlooking the lake and opening onto a balcony. Two comfy chairs, a table, a dresser, a little kitchenette (microwave, fridge, sink and cupboard nicely stocked with nice cups, glasses, dishes, etc). Bathroom was small by "modern" standards, but well appointed and spotless. Shower worked fine. Beds were very comfortable. Everything was SUPER clean, very well maintained and of good quality. Wifi was easy to use and fast.
One very minor thing to note about the (otherwise excellent) bathroom: I am 6'2", and when I sat on the toilet one of my knees was up against a wall. Not a real problem for me, but anyone taller might find it uncomfortable.
Front desk staff was efficient. In the morning, they provide light continental breakfast items (danish, muffins, ready-to-make oatmeal cups, fruit, coffee) in the small lobby area (we took ours back to our room). We had a dog, so (for a small per night cost) they provided dog sheets, a wipe-off-your-dog towel, poop bags and two dog bowls.
The parking lot is small, and the entry from State Street (fairly busy) is fairly narrow. But if you have a car of modest size, no problem.
There is a railway track close by, and during our four-day stay we heard freight trains three times (twice in the night). They blow the whistle and rattle by. Frankly, it didn't bother us at all. We didn't experience noise from other hotel guests. Entry to the rooms is from the outside (not from an inside hall). We like that. Even though our room was on the second floor, we walked to our car in just a few seconds. Much better than dragging our luggage down long halls.
During the off-season, prices here are just about the same as chain motels out along the interstate.
Bottom line: the Lakeshore Inn is a good example of traditional Lake Oswego heritage (quality and high standards, without crazy high cost).
Our room was ready upon arriva, the Front Desk and the entire staff made us feel right at home. The rooms were spacious and nicely kept. The inn was perfectly located to restaurants, shopping and theater.
We loved it. We strolled through the lovely shops in the beautiful village like atmosphere. Fed the ducks. Watched the beautiful sunset from our balcony. Enjoyed the comfy beds. The continental breakfast was great!
We enjoyed our stay. We attended a wedding at the Foundry and was within walking distance (less than 1/2 mile). The staff was very friendly. The location is perfect, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and a brewery. And of course, the views of the lake are amazing. We would stay again.
Would highly recommend a stay here at this hotel on the lake in Lake Oswego, Oregon. An older property, yes. However all is clean, well maintained, comfortable and office staff are all pleasant, efficient and very helpful. Many reviews mention the trains that pass by right next to the property at various times of day and night. Having been visiting Lake Oswego for at least 10+ years we were well aware of the tracks/trains. For us not a problem at night. Yes, may wake you up (not always). Enjoy the train "music" and go back to sleep. Lake Oswego is a wonderful place to walk and there are many great restaurants. We are, and will continue to be, return visitors. Attached pictures are views from our balcony.
