We just stopped by on the way to La Grande so cannot comment on the rooms or service but the photographs of the rooms did look nice and the one staff member we met was friendly. All the water in the hotel was sourced from the hot springs. The hotel has great historical value but needs professional work and investment... More

My hubby and I stayed two nights while in La Grande on business. I'm not sorry we stayed, unique experience and the grounds are quite lovely (we enjoyed the geese, swallows, and peacocks)! They've done a great job with furnishing and accessories, but the renovations are cheap, shoddy work at best. It's really too bad, because there's so much potential.... More

At least they are consistent here. Not well done. Stale food...dirty. so disappointing every time. I always hope it will improve. Slow service. Shabby. Not at all what I want to share with visitors. I love animals but I don't want to deal with goose poop! on a trip

I grew up in Joseph, OR and I remember driving by the old hot lake ruins over the years. I always hoped someone would renovate the property. I was so excited when the Manuel's began renovations. It is a life long project steeped in history. It is interesting to walk around and read the historical articles about Hot Lakes. When... More

Growing up in Union my family history is tied to this place and to see it rot for years I was very excited when the owners baught the hotel and started restoring it back to how it was years ago. We were able to stay at this wonderful B&B for Valentines weekend. Yes the hotel is still needing some repairs... More

It was such an amazing stay. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. So helpful. You felt like you walked into a family members home. We stayed in the reithmayr suite and it was awesome. They have done such an amazing job bringing the hotel back to life. And you feel like you are in a historical museum that you... More

This is an incredible place. We only stayed a night but it felt like much longer in a sense which might have been influenced by the fact that one is truly stepping back in time (over a century) at this resort. The hosts are gracious and friendly. Oh, and if you like piping hot, pristine, healing, mineral water soaking in... More

Thank goodness for the Manuel family and their dedication to this historic property! Without their dedication, an important piece of Oregon's history would have been lost. In the past 10 years, the family invested their own money and sweat equity to bring back the hotel and out buildings back to life. Yes, there is more to do, but we all... More

Incredible restoration efforts have been made to the building, but it is not yet ready for visitors/guests. I recommend others visit the foundry, the grounds, the museum and the fire truck display, but avoid the B & B.

I love everything about this historic jewel in Eastern Oregon. The Manuel family runs the hotel, under the enthusiastic and talented hand of their lovely matriarch, Lee. Make a point of asking her about the hotel's history, their renovation process, and the beautiful region their family calls home. Her positive energy and storytelling ability adds to the hotel's charm. The... More
