Lake of the Woods is a beautiful, serene place which we have been fortunate enough to visit in most all seasons. We reserved a cabin for September 2020 but had to cancel due to the Alameda fire that devastated the areas of Talent and Phoenix, OR. We were to meet my sister in LOTW for a little R&R from the ensuing pandemic until she called to inform us she had just lost her home and all her belongings in the fire. It was devastating, a very sad time, not a time for vacationing so we had to cancel our cabin. My sister was able to get a full refund for her RV site but we were not so fortunate. Under the circumstances, we thought the LOTW owners would be more understanding and compassionate. They were not. Yes, this review is somewhat vindictive but s*** happens and in the end "the customer is always right". We had hoped to one day return to LOTW but that will likely not be happening. SAD!…
Lake of the Woods is a wonderful place to get away from the craziness that is 2020. The cabin we stayed in was clean, cozy, appropriately furnished and stocked, and the staff was friendly, professional, helpful, and responsive. We'll definitely be back.
Fleeing wildfire smoke in California, we booked in here in our trailer on the spur of the moment on our way home. We would have been better to have gone straight home. Water spigot broken, gas fumes in the air. 1 restroom for the whole of the camp down at the very bottom, so a long walk from the top of the campground. 1 of the 2 showers working, ingrained dirt. Feces marks on the walls of the toilet stall. Engine noise running for quite some time shortly after 6 a.m. Timber saw mill machine started up at 8.15, constant high-pitched noise from the saw, loud workmen's voices and forklift noise. Employee speeding through campground on golf cart leaving trail of dust behind. Went to the store to cancel that coming night's stay. Drilling, banging there as roof replaced. INtolerable high-pitched drilling inside the store. To be fair, they have refunded our money, so we wait to see it show up in our account. We wrote to the company and got a half-hearted apology from one of the owners"that we did not meet your expectations" -like it was our expectations that were the problem. It was actually quite dismissive: "your distain for our work on our 100 year old store...", and "it sounds like it was more of a timing thing than anything." It can hardly be a timing thing. Given that they are open 365 days a year, any building or maintenance work will occur while guests are there. So, if you are self-sufficient in your trailer and don't need to use the restroom, and are quite happy with high-pitched noise of saws, drills and hammers, this could be the place for you. Forewarned: they are planning to update the showers before next summer, so pick your dates carefully.…
Everything its just beautiful and relaxing Experience the Cabin 10 was very clean and a nice partial view of the lake Restaurant just 10+ Excellent and the server very polite and kind I Recommend to come and visit this place just wonderful
Just returned home from our annual trip to LOW. Had a great time. Our cabin was perfect as always and the kids had a blast running around the trees. It was smoky a few of the days due to the nearby fires, but did not stop us from enjoying the trees and beautiful lake. The pizza in the marina is the best veggie pizza I have ever had. I am dreaming of it and am going to try and recreate it. The staff is great in all areas, and the bar upstairs is stunning! Can’t wait until next year!
