We discovered Vagabond Lodge (renamed about one week ago to Westcliff Lodge) thanks to the contributors on the Oregon forum of TripAdvisor. Thank you! It was a pleasant and perfect place to stay after an active day in the Columbia River Gorge area. We chose a pet-free room without a view of the river and found it to be spacious,... More

We stayed here for just one night, having previously booked a room with a view. Our ground floor room was spacious and comfortable for three persons. We enjoyed sitting on the deck outside the room, facing the scenic Hood River. The property is nicely maintained with a nice path to a observation point above the river. The motel is just... More

Thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed visiting with us! We're working on a couple more improvements for the observation point, including a picnic table to have lunch or wine while watching the river, and a few other nice improvements. Thanks again! More

The Vagabond Lodge is a pleasant surprise along the Columbia River. At first glance it looks like a 1950s era travel lodge which it originally was but it's been updated nicely and the grounds are gorgeous. You can tell the "backyard" is used for a lot of weddings with it's spectacular view and beautifully maintained flower beds. The lodge is... More

Thanks for your review! Yes, some of our showers are different sizes, depending on which building it is. For example, our newest (Courtyard) building has a larger shower size with both 4" standard and 8" rainfall shower heads. We will continue to make more renovations as well; thanks again! More

We are airline employees who travel quite a bit on our down time and always review hotels afterwards. I have to admit I was binge-watching Hotel Impossible and saw this hotel on the show. The show's host tore a room apart and said it was one of the cleanest hotels he had ever seen. So we decided to cancel our... More

They need to have Windows on the rooms lock. It was a little creepy knowing someone could get into my room by opening the windows that don't lock. It would be nice if they had more than coffee, but I'd come here again in a heart beat, maybe just ask for bars to put in Windows

Thanks for your review! Yes, we do have coffee in the rooms; and also have coffee, tea, cider, and cocoa in the office. We don't put them everywhere because we would have to toss them in the trash if unused. Sorry for the confusion about the windows, they do lock by sliding the metal tab into the lock channel. We'll... More

We arrived at the hotel very tired and unexpected while traveling the states. The people at the front desk were very helpful and knew the area so well which helped us even more. The owner gave us a little history on the hotel. They put us in a room in their new building. Everything was very clean and welcoming. In... More

We arrived late at night and they left the light on for us. What an amazing view when we opened the drapes in the morning. We didn't know what to expect since we didn't see the lodge or area until the morning and were pleasantly surprised. A drive around the fruit loop is a plus.

Thanks for your review! The Fruit Loop is wonderful this time of year; the cherries are ripe and there are a handful of great places to u-pick huge cherries and blueberries. Thanks again for visiting with us! More

We only stayed overnight but everything was awesome! Check in/out was easy with no hassles! The room stated partial view...but to us it was full view of the river. The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of. The room was neat, clean and tidy. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Thanks much for your review, glad you enjoyed visiting with us! You are right, you can see the river well from our Partial View building, beyond our event space. We wanted a view of the Columbia River and at same time sought to keep the cost down. The VL fit the bill. We had a direct view of the River. If you want the same, make sure you get in the building closest to the River. The VL is also close to town. The room itself was a bit... More

We had a 2nd floor room with a balcony. We sat outside and watched many wind-boards on the river. There must have been 30-40 of them sailing. It is a very windy place for sure! The room was nice, comfortable bed and clean. Only drawback was hauling the luggage up 2 flights of stairs. This motel is not in the... More

Thanks for your review! Yes, if a guest reserves a top floor room, there is a flight of stairs up to it. What we did to make those steps a bit easier was built them at a more gentle angle and made the steps wider. Thanks for letting us know, we'll definitely incorporate that feedback into any remodeling or new... More
