Detailed Reviews
We had a great time at the villas and felt especially safe during our stay. The hotel was very thorough with social distancing measures (minimal contact and text check in, masking, etc) and communicating how they sanitize their rooms. We opted for a room that had a kitchenette since we weren’t sure what sort of dining options would be available in town, which served us well. The views and grounds at the villas and the historic hotel next-door are spectacular, and the location is great for quick drives to downtown Hood River, area hikes, the Fruit Loop, and other attractions.

Dear ECal, So glad you enjoyed your visit and accommodations. As you discovered, we offer a wide variety of rooms and suites. Travelers can find details, pics and floor plans of every option on the Accommodations page of our website. Our easy-access location on a 210' cliff overlooking the Columbia River Gorge is only a mile from downtown, with several great dining options within walking distance. Our friendly concierge team may be keeping their distance and hiding behind masks these days but they love sharing their local knowledge. We all hope you find time for another getaway so they can help you discover more of all the Hood River area has to offer. Thanks for the great review! Happy travels, Steve Tessmer, Owner & GM

We were here on a trip with my mom brother and wife which is never easy to do but the two bedroom pinnacle suite was beyond our expectations. It was quiet, comfortable very clean and everyone had what they needed We ordered solstice pizza for dinner and ate on the back deck and made our own breakfast in the kitchen in the morning we had views of the Columbia river and walks through the beautiful gardens of the Columbia Gorge Hotel next-door. Bo At the front desk made sure we had everything we needed throughout the whole trip with contact list check in and texts to see if we needed anything else. We have stayed in the smaller rooms here in the past which are also beautiful but the pinnacle suite is like nothing else. Can’t wait to come back!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
My partner and I stayed in the Carriage House, for the weekend, and it was the perfect getaway. The space was so cozy and welcoming. We had a full kitchen (stocked with all the necessary utensils), a fireplace (which was perfect since the weather had been cold), and a separate bedroom (great for when your partner wants to watch TV and you’re ready to call it a night).
This is our first getaway since being parents and I can’t express how amazing the stay was, especially during the pandemic. The room was clean, grounds were quiet, and while our room was the furthest from the views - we still had a lovely shot of the river.
Downtown Hood River shops and restaurants closed much earlier than we’re used to in Portland but the full kitchen in our room helped us fully unwind and relax. I was able to catch up on all my shows, hangout with my partner like we used to before the baby and just eat all the yummy treats the town had to offer.
I definitely recommend this place.

+1
We stayed here for one night and wish we had waited to book a hotel until we got to the area. I should have known it was a “too good to be true” experience for the price range. We actually work in the hotel industry so it’s rare for us to actually review hotels but I feel like it’s necessary for travelers to understand what they’re in for here. Let me start by saying, this is probably a great hotel for family visitors as it seems the rooms with the views are the 2/3 bedroom suites. For a couple traveling I would say keep going down the road. The first room we got was literally a shoebox overlooking the highway...this is NOT on the description AT ALL. There is no phone in the room so you can’t even call reception to see what else there is. We went down to see what else there was and we were told we could upgrade for $30. We got something on the third floor with a “partial view” this is if you’re standing outside of the room on the shared walkway.
That aside, let’s get into the cleanliness of the room we actually stayed in. My biggest concern is that the room is not actually being properly cleaned during COVID times. Also there is no duvet cover on the bed simply a sheet, comforter, then top blanket. This is highly unsanitary! The comforters do not get changed every stay (they don’t in any hotels). The shower curtain & ironing board had stains on them. Whatever the white circle thing is on the ceiling was covered in cobwebs and the blinds were full of dust! We checked out first thing in the morning and will definitely not be back.
Also, no restaurants near by and parking at night is not a fun experience at this hotel.

Dear Stephanie, We always appreciate guest input and constantly strive for perfection. Obviously, we fell short for you; so please allow me to address your concerns and maybe clarify a few misconceptions. Most importantly, we have been exceeding all recommendations and requirements for COVID sanitization. All beds are double sheeted so the duvet is completely wrapped in clean sheets. After two days of strong winds and some wildfire smoke, I'm not surprised there was some dust on the blinds, as that room had been vacant for two days prior. I have no excuse for the smudge on shower curtain or ironing board, nor the missed cobweb - but I can assure you that our housekeeping staff knocks themselves out and consistently scores top marks for cleanliness. We use premium cleaning products at every level, including a new cleaner that maintains a sanitized surfaces for at least eight hours. We are all shaken by your discoveries, have addressed these isolated issues and want to assure you and other TA travelsers that we remain the cleanest and safest lodging facility in the area. Our contact-less check-in process provides all guests with the office text number to contact our friendly staff anytime, day or night. They would have happily addressed any of the issues you encountered, as well as provided recommendations for Hood River's best restaurants, including several within walking distance, if you had contacted them. Our wide range of rooms and suites can be confusing to book through online travel sites but the Accommodations page of our website provides accurate information, pictures and even floor plans for all our options. I wish you happy travels and hope you might come back sometime for a better experience. Thank you! Steve Tessmer, Owner & GM

My husband and I stayed in a Carriage House suite for 4 nights at the end of a 3 week trip to the NW. The suite / furniture were in great shape and the unit wasvery clean. Exactly as pictured.
They even offered daily maid service which was a pleasant surprise since the other 3 hotels we stayed at during our trip did not offer any cleaning due to COVID. Our unit had a W/D which we took advantage as soon as we arrived.
It was a great location with easy access to many hikes, the main waterfall attractions, and downtown Hood River. We were thoroughly pleased with our unit and would stay here again in a minute.

First time staying at this place - would love to come back. The room (European King) was perfectly sized and stocked with kitchen facilities and items, which was huge given that we mostly ate take-out due to pandemic restrictions. Cozy, yet big enough to have down time there for several hours during the trip. Property has wonderful view of the Columbia River and the ability to wander next door through the gardens of the sister property was a big bonus. Close to downtown and other amenities, and a quick trip up to the mountain.

Dear Breton, So glad you enjoyed your first experience. We offer a wide variety of rooms and suites to accommodate your solo or couples trips for now but keep us in mind for a visit with friends or family in one of our spacious 1-3 bedroom suites sometime in the not-too-distant future. It sounds like you stayed in a Carriage House or Euro King Suite unit, as our Euro King room does not have the kitchen. Details, pictures and floor plans of all our offerings can be found on the Accommodations page of our website. We hope to see you again soon. Thanks for the great review!

This facility is beautiful. It is located on a cliff overlooking the Columbia Gorge. Gorgeous views - great staff - luxury toiletries. Spacious rooms. No elevator, but an easy climb with a landing so you do not have to climb w/o stopping. This property is located a short distance from the downtown area, but truly worth the very short drive (1-1.5 miles) to restaurants, etc.

When I arrived, the staff person was extremely welcoming, and I was personally show to my room. Hand sanitizer was included for these crazy pandemic times. Our deck was amazing To lounge on while waiting for dinner. Later I was able to enjoy my main attraction, the bathtub which to die for! I would definitely stay here again.

We were weary travelers when we arrived late in the evening last week.
We had had lovely communication with a staff member prior to our arrival and the lights were on!
Very comfortable bed and tub was nice for a soak.
Our room selection was on the smaller size - which we knew - but the location was not ideal as the traffic sounds from the freeway were quite apparent.
We would definitely stay again, would just be sure to request the RIVER not the freeway.

We rented the penthouse suite 6 on the northwest corner of the building. The views were spectacular!!! We loved it. Very spacious! The master bedroom and bathroom were huge and comfortable. The closet was the size of a room. There was also a great laundry room in the unit. The kitchen was huge and very clean. Sometimes I don’t like to cook in rentals because they don’t quite seem clean, but this one was really clean. We cooked in several nights and enjoyed eating at the huge table with great views.
We had a problem with the AC during our stay, and the manager was wonderful. He was so diligent about getting it fixed and even offering us an alternate room while waiting. We really appreciated how much he cared.
One thing to note is that the queen bedroom attached is not big enough for adults. We had teenagers in there, so not a problem. It’s fine for kids or teens in a family group. It had a teeny tiny bathroom.
We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Quartering view means partial view. Depending on the room-type, you will see some river out the window and more from the outdoor veranda entry. The Accommodations page of our website had pics, details and floor plans for all our room types. Or give us a call if you have more questions. Thanks.
Certainly. We look forward to your visit.
Thank you.
There was an elevator in the complex we were in , we were in the building facing the river !
They are not dog friendly, but we take our dog to this great place called Cascade Pet Camp. It is right outside town but the drive there is really pretty. You go past wineries and orchards.
Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge offer a wealth of great outdoor activities for young and old alike. We are only one exit away from the Hood River Waterfront Park which features a fun playground area situated between the Columbia River and some of our town's best restaurants and coffee shops.
When the weather is on the colder side, places like the Mt. Hood Railroad and the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) are always a popular visit for families.
Our friendly concierge staff is always happy to help find activities and provide recommendations based on seasonal travel as well!
