Our room was clean and spacious (double Queen). Bathroom was small but clean. Bed was comfortable. The best part of our stay was interacting with Heather who checked us in: she works the evening shift. Friendly and cheerful, she let us know all the things that were going on in her little town when we asked about all the motorcycles we encountered coming in. Bird watchers “flock” here because it’s located along a bird migratory route; the PeeWee rodeo was goin on, & motorcyclists had gathered to raise $ for veterans. To Rory & Ryan: Heather’s a keeper! If you want to get in for dinner at the most-popular (and highest-rated) restaurant (The Pine Room), call well in advance for the weekend; we were turned away without reservations.

Window drapes were torn, toilet kept cycling, beds left us with sore backs (they sunk in the middle). Bathtub had a nice brown layer of filth and we're not sure how this place has over 2 stars. We booked it on our road trip because of the reviews. WE WILL NOT GO BACK !

We spent one night here recently. A big factor for us was the pool. It's large, a little on the cool side, indoors. It's starting to show some wear but was super clean and very refreshing. Our room was spacious and quite comfortable. WiFi worked fine. Recommend.

I was told that I could cancel the room if it was out of my control like an airplane that could not get into the airport. That is why I booked there. When we landed at another city out of our control I called to cancel, they said they would pass it on to the manager. I received no phone call or communication, noticed the charge on my card. I called and talked to the manager/owner Kelly Cullen she was very defensive and told me she did not believe me. I will not plan to stay here in the future. I would not expect to be called a liar. How do I politely say horrible customer service. I can’t speak to the hotel as I never saw it, just the character of Kelly.

I was hesitant to stay here - it looks older and worn out - but we didn't have many options. I hadn't booked prior, as we were not sure how far we would feel up to driving on the way home from our multi-day road trip. Fortunately, it turned out to be fine. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable (that's all that really matters for a quick stop). The AC had been set to 60 when we arrived, so we turned on the heater to get the room up a few degrees. Being August, the heater obviously had not been used for a while, so made quite a stink for a few minutes, but no issues other than that. The check-in clerk was friendly. Overall, it was good enough for an overnight stay. We were able to get a good night's rest.

When we first got here, the service was amazing! What ruined the trip was an encounter between a woman named Debbie (clocked in at 4pm on 5/29/21) who came in the pool area while my family and I were swimming. She came in with the rudest, and I mean RUDEST (and that word isn’t strong enough) way and spoke to us, PAYING CUSTOMERS, as if we committed a crime against her for having chips on a table. She spoke so rudely and arrogant that it took all I had not to cause a scene in front of my daughter. She behaved like a child talking about taking our chips to our room Bc it’s not allowed in pool area (however the sign says, inside pool or wet deck, NOT the table near the walls). Anyway, I gathered the things and as I went up to take it to room I asked her what her name was and the name of the manager. When I went back to the pool, this childish woman, brought me the phone with the “manager” on the other end who was just as rude as her. She didn’t care that her employee was behaving in such a way. She didn’t mind the way her approach was. She basically applauded her for being a childish adult with absolutely NO manners! How both these women (and I use that term loosely) were ever allowed into customer service is beyond me. I can almost say, nothing will be done Bc clearly it start at the top. The other 2 older ladies who attended us the day before and that morning were so amazing and it’s unfortunate that this review affects their hard work Bc this review affects the hotel. I honestly feel like this woman was raciest and I don’t like saying things like this but I can only go by what I see and experience. About 20 min later, kids came to the pool with no supervision, they were diving into the pool, and jumping into the hot tub, screaming and making a mess. Later their adult came in, and again, they continued to behave this way (which was clearly posted as a NO on the rule board. She could see them from the window, smiled and acted as if they weren’t doing anything wrong. These kids and their adult were white. I hate to even write that part. I personally dont care Bc the kids are having fun but I say it to point out, if anything where more important, my chip bag compared to them jumping in a hot tub doesn’t even compare. They could have been injured.. but Bc they were not of color, I guess it was ok. This is the first time in Oregon, which I visit often, I have encounter such an experience. It saddens me that this is tolerated and allowed. I hope these 2 woman are retrained and really spoken to, Bc their attitude affects the whole experience. They should not be employed their or allowed to speak to customers until they fulfill training and are treating everyone equal.

Stayed for 1 night, would never come back, The bed was terrible, the toilet knob broke, the room smeller like an old closet. The hair dryer wasn’t working and could not be replaced. None from the staff wore face masks. When leaving in the morning the lady at front desk was grumpy, did not respond to our morning greeting, did mot wear a mask, did not even say goodbye.

Hines was the perfect “landing spot” for us while we spent 3 days exploring the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, Steens Mountains and the Alvord Desert. The Rory and Ryan Inn was quiet and clean and a brown bag breakfast was available available very morning. This was all at a reasonable price! If you’re looking to explore the southeastern corner of Oregon, this is a great place for families, couples and solo travelers to stay.
