Detailed Reviews
We have stayed at Jots Resort in Gold Beach Oregon many, many times over the years. We're sad to say that, it's gone downhill for the last 10. They're not putting the money back into it, their staff sucks... for two days they did not pick up cigarette butts on the stairwell, they did not pick up trash in the stairwell, they can't even bend over and take the time to pull painting tape off of the ground. and, there was blood on our bedding, our TV remote did not work and the bath fan sounds like a garbage disposal. We were too tired to find another place to stay so we stayed anyway. I hope that they read this review and say you know what, I need to step back and take a look. And then, systematically fix what needs to be fixed from the power outlets to the fans in the bathrooms. It's time to put the money into the resort, even if you break even for 3 or 4 years... it's past time to do so.

We booked here because they advertised having AC and we need that for health reasons. They do not have AC and the staff was with either ignorant of this fact or kept lying and telling us that the heater was an AC unit. Manager Sara was very rude and bordered on aggressive when I tried to ask for monetary reimbursement because we had to stay there, nothing else available nearby. The room was very hot and the walls so thin we heard loud banging and laughing until 1:30 am. Horrible night and Sara's attitude was so very poor it just made things worse. I can't understand why such a nasty woman would be a manager anywhere. Won'

We were really looking forward to a much needed getaway, to rest and enjoy comfort.
I was assured this was a newly renovated room, with 'Deluxe' linens and amenities.
We are business owners, our customers are everything to us. Customer service, courtesy, value for price and cleanliness are priorities.
The fact is, this is an over priced fishing motel for guys, nothing deluxe about it. Our room smelled like a wet, dirty dog. It stunk. The carpet was dirty and riddled with stains and clearly hadn't been vacuumed (or perhaps the vacuum isn't sufficient for the job), dog hair appeared on shoes. I didn't ask for a 'pet friendly' room, nor was I advised if it was one. The bathroom and shower flooring also need a deep cleaning. Hard bed. There were open garbage cans on each level of outside stairs and flies galore as you pass by, climbing stairs to your room. The entire property needs maintenance, cleaning and upgrading.
Their restaurant. Sorry to have to give addl negative review, but many things. New (she said) waitress - and the only one. She tried, but comments like 'sorry we're taking so long, we're trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel for your soup, but there just wasn't quite enough, so they're fixing something.' 'Out of salads' she said. And the scallops and halibut served were hard, dry, yet greasy. This was not fresh fish one would expect on the coast, it was frozen foods from a box.
Sorry Jots, you need an array of improvement, especially for a hotel/hospitality based business.
And the front desk employee didn't bother to ask 'how was your stay', or 'did you enjoy your stay', or even thank you for coming.
Again sorry, I wish I wasn't leaving a bad review, but was compelled to state the facts. Hard working folks don't appreciate spending hard earned money on less than expected services. We can't recommend you.

Ovepriced, 2 nights $283.00
Reported to front desk there was no shampoo/conditioner in the dispensers located in the tub area. I thought it was because of covid19 they were not filled. So, expected at the least individual ones. Only one tiny, and I mean tiny bar of soap. Asked for another. No delivery of shampoo and a bare bar of soap minus any wrapper was placed on the sick rim.
No grab n go continental breakfast, which most other hotels had been offering, we were told we could purchase food to go or do inside seating at their restaurant as they were serving breakfast, and was given a menu handout. Does not do much good when it doesn't open until 11:00 a.m.
All 3 front desk interactions gave off the impression of "oh well".
The view of the bridge and river was nice, but getting the ripped screen door to open was a challenge. The name says "Resort", but it was far from it. It was not a pleasant experience.
Pool closed as expected.
Waaay overpriced for the level of amenities available and do it yourself housekeeping. ( I get it that housekeeping is limited now, which is fine)
Stay away until they get their service priorities squared away during the Covid19 era.

Klingonlursa: We’re really sorry for the inconveniences you had during your stay at the Jot’s Resort. We have addressed this right away to our staff and to ensure that such incidents are not repeated again. On the other hand, we’re happy to know you loved the views of the bridge and the river from the resort. Regarding the price, we feel our rates are competitive with our nearby hotels rather than overpriced. If you have any further concerns, please share them with us at: officejotsresort@gmail.com. The view is truly the best part of this place. Unfortunately, the sliding glass doors step out onto a small cement strip lining all of the other doors with a plastic chair in front of each unit. No AC either means you keep your sliding glass door cracked or boil in your room -- as a woman traveling by myself I absolutely did not feel safe there. There were loud men staying in the room next to me who stayed up late and woke up at 6 with booming voices. After that first night I went to the front desk to ask to be switched to a different room, but the receptionist said that wasn't possible since her cleaning people had already left. There were empty rooms in the resort. I tried to explain that I didn't feel comfortable asking them to be quiet on my own, but she didn't seem to care.

Right now, we are in the process of making huge improvements to our product and services to better serve our guests in the future. We are also aware of some maintenance needs that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, we cannot control our fellow guests and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, since our cleaning staff had left, we could not provide you another room. We were on a road trip from California and called to ask about availability for a two queen/double room. The person at reception told my son (I was driving) that they only had one room available at $235 per night. We booked it as we have never been to Gold Beach. When we arrived at "the roach motel" I discovered that they had multiple vacancies and that most rooms were under $200 per night. However, we had already paid and I didn't feel like making a big scene. I thought maybe the rooms are really luxurious inside and the girl at the front desk told me it was one of their best rooms. When I opened the door (that was marked with a hand written number) the smell of urine was overwhelming. The room was in poor condition and the lack of privacy (due to a walkway) was another shock! I asked them to please clean the floor of the smell of urine when we went out for dinner. When we returned there was a bottle of "air freshener" standing on the table and no sign of them having cleaned the floor. I sprayed the stuff everywhere but it did not really help. I was forced to sleep with the window open (people walking up and down on the patio) and had no idea if someone was just going to climb through - I did not feel safe with just myself and my two boys with me! This is by far one of the worst "resorts" I have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of staying at. If they offered me the room at a 50% discount, I would still call it daylight robbery! What a terrible place. You are better off staying at the motel 6 across the road. Best part : the room ended costing more that $250 per night, the premises were dirty with dirty walkways, stairs and "out of order" vending machine, ant in the room and poorly maintained roomsl.

We got in late from on the road and this was about the only place available. I shared a 2-queen room with my brothers. When I went to go to sleep around 11:30 pm I discovered that the bed sheets were filthy and obviously not changed. I called the front desk with no answer, so I went to the office and knocked on the door. Eventually a guy answered, and I explained the situation. He said there was nothing he could do other than switch rooms. It was around 12:00 am by then. I could wake up my brothers who were already asleep for quite a while and move all our stuff to a new room or I could just sleep on top of the bed coverings rather than wake them, and address the situation with management in the am. In the morning I explained the problem to the manager and her reply was they couldn't do anything about it because we were offered another room. I said I didn't want to inconvenience the other parties that late and asked for at least a reduction in the room cost for the inconvenience. The manager declined and would not give me the owner's phone number but said she would have him call. Do you think he called? Of course not. If I could give this place a zero I would. Don't stay here! Go to the next town first.

From the moment we stepped into our room, we were harassed by the man in the room next to us. There is a shared balcony by all rooms. We stayed here because the view of the river and the promise of great fireworks show. We were super excited to stay there and enjoy the night. The “night” turned into a nightmare. As soon as we stepped out on the balcony, we were confronted by a man who was drunk, smoking, and walking in and out of his room. This man was walking in front of our room smoking, knocking on our window, and creepily peering in our room. He was very loud and even opened our sliding glass door. We locked it, that’s when I called the front desk the first time. I explain my dismay with the confrontation of this man and his constant chain-smoking and the young lady at the front desk told me, “oh it’s OK to smoke on the balcony”. When we checked in, we were told no smoking in the rooms, no smoking on the balcony and that it was strictly enforced. My family members are allergic to cigarette smoke. That’s why we asked if it was non smoking. Front desk said that they won’t do anything about it unless they get a complaint. I told her I was making a complaint and They did nothing. No air conditioning so opening slider is the only option but not when you have a drunk man smoking and trying to open our sliding door. This man was very loud through the night, in which neighbors were telling him to shut up and he was yelling back, I don’t have to shut up, get in my face and see what happens, and very confrontational. I don’t believe anyone could enjoy the fireworks on the Fourth of July with that drunk talking over everybody, and getting into everybody’s business.we’ve called several times to the front desk and they said all we came checked on it and there’s there was no problem. As the neighbor started yelling at him for ruining their time he finally went into his room smoking. He ranted throughout the whole 45 minutes of the fireworks show. Terrible management.

While we wish you had a better experience, it’s feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it’s apparent in this case, we fell short, mostly due to something out of our control--an unruly guest. Pros:
Effort seemed to have been made to book guests into every other room, to reduce the noise in the room. (Not many guests this time of year.) We slept well.
Bed was clean, as was room. New hard flooring in entry, and new sink. Absolutely the biggest TV in a hotel room we've ever seen!
Great riverside view in all rooms. You look out across the river and downstream to the ocean waves.
Good restaurant across the street.
Cons
Of all 3 places we stayed along the coast, here the wireless did not work at all on any of 3 iphones. Signal was adequate, but the hotel wireless shows up as an insecure network, so Apple wont allow phones to connect. Front desk tried to help with phone, but seems like it is a setting in the wireless system that the hotel would need to fix.
Noticeable smell of cleaning product or air freshener, but the large sliding window to the deck made it easy to air out. Furnishings and shower were a bit dated. All functional and clean though, and not unfair given offseason price < 80USD.
There seemed to be a lack of attention to old bits of litter around the place. Id chalk it up to the big storms blowing stuff around the week before, but some of it looked like it had been there longer term, and seemed to reflect a general feel around the place of a more relaxed attention to detail than can sometimes be found in the same price range.

My husband and I wanted to get away and have a nice relaxing evening we decided to try out this resort. I looked online at prices and had a good idea once I went to the front desk and asked how much your room would be it was $50 more than it was online. Brought it to the clerks attention and she said she doesn’t have access to the online prices. I had to go online to book my reservation. The cell service in this area is horrible so it took me an additional 10 minutes before I had to go on Wi-Fi to complete the reservation. We checked in there is trash everywhere on this property and it is run down. The rooms were clean, but maintenance workers were staying on the other side with garbage on their balcony an unacceptable balcony per the rules of the hotel. The staff were young and rude. We went ahead and made the best out of it. The next morning at 8:25a we woke up in the morning to the fire alarm going off. I called the front desk and she tried to tell me the battery must be going out. It wasn’t a chirp it was the alarm, I do know the difference They sent a maintenance worker up who is laughing that we had just gotten woken up by the fire alarm. It also smelled like exhaust. Very dangerous. We checked out early. I went down to the front desk to ask if we were to get a discount or something to make things right on the horrible experience and I was told no. Sorry. This property I would not recommend staying here. Way over priced most likely because the firefighters were staying there and they were taking advantage of the system.
