This was a really wonderfully located hotel and from the beach, you'd never know how centrally located it really is! We stayed in a suite with a Murphy bed, which was NOT comfortable, but the location, scenery, and beach made it worth the mediocre sleep quality. Also, we literally booked it 2 days before a MAJOR holiday weekend! We walked to a local BBQ place which had FANTASTIC food and carried it back to our room where we enjoyed eating it while watching the light show...which was some local history (real cool), ending with a long clip from 'Mama Mia'. Unfortunately since we were on the bottom level, we had LOTS of noise from the large family staying above us late into the night :( It seems these units suffer from modern minimal insulation/noise barrier. Other than the sound level and bed quality of this particular unit, this was a fantastic stay in a beautiful location that was well worth the cost.

Absolutely amazing spot. The room we had was a little outdated but I still gave 5 stars because everything else was great. First off we arrived after hours but they had an easy honor system set up so you could get in your room and finish check in the following morning. The staff we dealt with were very nice, knowledgeable of the area and gave great recommendations for food as well as pet friendly spots. The pet area is very well taken care of and plenty spacious. The best part about this place is easy access to a beautiful large stretch of beach. It’s a quick walk to the ocean and it looked like you could see the ocean from the 2nd story beachfront rooms. The city fireworks were easily seen from our beach location and many others were lighting off their own fireworks. Lastly you couldn’t beat the price given the holiday weekend and the location. Best 4Th of July, so much fun. Thank you Pacific Reef Inn!!

Stayed mid July as a 2 night stop over. It was quite foggy, windy, and cold when we arrived. We stayed in the A-Frame cabin. It's not listed on their website, but when you call in you can inquire about it. We got lucky and it happened to be available. The A-Frame is a little hard to find, but I like that it was separated from the main buildings & closer to the beach path since we had a dog. After checking in, go towards the newer looking condo facing the beach. There's a small driveway on the left side of the condos that leads down towards a gravelly path. You'll drive pass a grassy area where the light show is.

You can park your car right up next to the building. Keep in mind, the A-frame is not a hotel room. It's like a rustic cabin, but it had what we needed. The shower is tiny, but had really good water pressure. The heater and tv works. Their phone however was ringing randomly during the day with people trying to get the front desk to make a reservation. The bathroom sink also didn't have hot water (perhaps they already fixed the issue) which wasn't a huge biggie for us. There is a loft, but doesn't have a lick of furniture and I'm not the type to lie down on just dark carpet. So it would be nicer if there was actual sitting furniture up there so you can look out the big window.

There is plenty of grass for our dog & a patio for us to sit and relax on. The beach is really rocky (I think that's how my dog hurt her paw), but if you walk along the water, the sand is nice and packed. There is a water hose behind the house if you need to rinse your dog afterwards. We didn't catch the light show because each night was too cold for us. However, if you stay in the condo buildings with a balcony, you can sit on your rocking chair and watch in comfort.

Loved the set up for oceanfront rooms, the rooms felt more private, a door on bottom allowed only the one downstair and one upstair guest in, giving it a private feeling. We were upstairs, the view was great, we could see waves crashing. Room was clean.
Negatives were coffee in room was horrible, they need to get Keurig's. Daily room cleaning was not offered, we had to call for towels, trash removal. FY: it was hot in the room, no air conditioner, just a fan. Night cooled off, slept with balcony slider open.
Covid 19 caused the lobby to be locked and no breakfast.

On top of everything else awesome about this place, one of the little things they do that is huge in my book, is provide big, heavy duty bags for your laundry.
Not some little puny one, like all other hotels, these ones can handle all your family’s wet sandy clothes, no problems. It seems like such a tiny detail, but it’s one I’ve always thought them so clever for...

Our economy room was clean, quiet, and at a nice location. It was an easy walk to the beach. Be sure to call ahead if you are going to arrive later than 10 pm, because they close the office. They were very accommodating about our arrival after 11 pm, and made it possible for us to go directly to our room after our long drive without any problems or wait. We would definitely stay there again.

Upon my arrival I had asked for extra coffee packets for the mornings, wasn't delivered, luckily there was a coffee place across the street. The trash wasn't taken out the second day but maybe because of the covid thing. Overall pretty good. Old style rooms, tubs could use some more nonslip pads, almost fell.

The furniture and room showed quite a bit of wear but was presentable. Good view of the ocean. Each room had a private balcony with two rocking chairs (a nice touch). Everything now a days is blamed on COVID 19. I still can't understand why staying more that one night there can't be any maid service... (no discount for the lack of maid service) after all there has to be maid service when you leave.... blamed on COVID.
The room itself could use a little more vacuum time. There was quite a bit of dirt in the heater vent. There was quite a bit of dried toothpaste spittle on the wall next to the sink. There was dried blood on the door frame of the bathroom. The lid of the toilet tank could be hit with a wet rag a little more. The chest of drawers was sticky down the front where someone had spilled soda.
When I was advising the "check out lady", she seemed upset and maybe thought I was trying to beat her up. She offered a 10% discount and was surprised when I turned it down. I told her that I liked the place, was not trying get a discount nor to beat anyone up, just wanted to educate them on how they could do better. (The room was a little pricey for the condition, but you're at the Coast with an Ocean View). She seemed somewhat surprised that I wouldn't take the discount. Employees were very polite. Yes, we would stay there again.

The beach lover's cottage was great for our needs. The floor was NOT clean (feet were black after 5 minutes of walking around), TV was covered in dust both top and bottom, and the loft smelled really musty, like moldy musty and the carpet looked like it had been there since the 70's. BUT, the location close to the beach was great, being able to have our dog with us was awesome, and the biggest plus was the privacy. Bed was OK, definitely clean sheets and towels, but the room was dusty and as I said, floors hadn't been mopped. There was no Wi-Fi despite the description saying they had it (called to check before hand and they said it was spotty, but we weren't able to connect the entire 4 days we were there). TV selection was pretty limited, one movie channel, HBO, and the rest had commercials every 10 minutes (which we aren't used to anymore). No daily house keeping during Covid, which was OK other than the amount of take-out containers we needed to dispose of every day. Found some trash cans on the property to periodically dispose of trash. Didn't watch the light show, but there wasn't any noise to disturb us. Overall a good trip, but a little overpriced for the quality of the room.

I spent 4 nights at the Hotel last week. My room was second floor on the end 1B. I really loved my balcony with the rocking chairs and the Mama Mia light show was fun, however I wished they played the entire movie or other movies for that matter.
Our room had lovely character, but wished the TV worked better, the toilet seat needs to be replaced, the screen door needs to be replaced, and the shower head it’s not meant for that small of a tub.
The guy who worked there prepared our grab and go breakfast the night before since we were going on the jet boats early. It’s too bad we couldn’t have the sit down breakfast next door, but close due to COVID. It’s too bad there isn’t housekeeping, but the guy gave a new towels when requested and took our garbage. I was sad our dirty towels sat out in the hallway for days. He was super kind to bring me a spare blanket, I couldn’t find any extras in the room.
I have one very big warning for you. Be very mindful of the walk down to the beach or drive your car, because I slipped and fell the very first day and sprained my left ankle really bad and ruined my vacation plans. I think there should be a sign up or encourage their guests to drive down to the beach and park your car.
The beach is a few minutes away and I wish my room view was better, but the ocean is further away then you think when you book your stay with trees and foliage in front of the beach front. I think the price could have been less with the COVID situation, but everyone needs to make a living theses days.

There are sliding screen doors. We were on the first floor so I didn’t feel safe leaving it open at night. At night it was around 52 degrees so we were fairly comfortable inside.

There are many options for rooms and yes I’m sure you could reserve a block of rooms or they have huge family suites and condos you could reserve. It’s a large complex. Check out their website for all the variety of options and they are way friendly so give them a call as well. As regards a meeting room.. they don’t have a meeting room necessarily but they do have a separate larger lounge area that is by itself, looks toward the ocean and looks over their outdoor “theater” - not sure if you could reserve it exclusively but it’s really nice with couches and a fireplace - it’s a really large lounge area - actually area is not a good description it’s more like a huge living room with vaulted ceilings. It looks like it used to be one of the huge ocean view rooms that they just didn’t make into a room - just airy and open and huge. They also have a separate “spa” house that has the hot tub in it all by itself across from where all the rooms are. Hope that helped a bit. It’s a really nice place. The “lounge” was our favorite part.
