The Salishan Coastal Lodge by SCP Hotels garners praise for its excellent service and top-notch amenities, including a well-regarded spa, picturesque golf course, and the allure of easy beach access. Its cozy fireplaces and array of engaging activities contribute to the lodge's relaxing atmosphere, despite some rooms feeling a touch outdated. While the spacious and comfortable rooms are a hit, the need for renovations is a point of contention.
The scenic location's tranquility is occasionally marred by noise and accessibility issues. Cleanliness is consistently celebrated, yet opinions on the lodge's value for money are divided.

Although an older establishment, it offers a much needed simplicity. We really enjoyed our time staying here, even though it is a little bit outdated. Our first room was a prime room & we chose to move to another room b/c it was located where we can hear lots of street traffic from the 101. They moved us to a room that overlooks the golf course and that was much better. The rooms are not soundproof so you can hear your neighbors as they shuffle in their rooms and talk, but most people were respectful for the most part. Rooms were clean & bed comfortable. Definitely dog friendly. At the main lobby, there are two big fire pits, which were enjoyable to sit by in the evenings. There is a marketplace called the Provisions where we ordered most of our food although they do have a restaurant upstairs that’s nicer, but their balcony was closed at the time of our visit. The food was adequate, but not necessarily five star. They offered breakfast lunch and dinner options, They did have gluten-free bread, which was nice. The property is not on the beach and it’s about a 15 minute drive to their private beach, which was well worth it. I’m not sure that I would walk it though. It seemed far for that.

We stayed at Salishan for several days in October that were mixed sunny and rainy. Our room was really lovely and allowed for perfect night’s sleep. On rainy days, the fireplace in the room provided a cozy setting. On sunny days we were able to walk the grounds and enjoy the beautiful setting.
Meals are available in restaurants on the grounds. The breakfasts were good; the dinner adequate.
Customer service is excellent. All the employees—from front desk to housekeeping— were extremely helpful and bent over backwards to make our stay pleasant.

The Spa at Salishan is well worth the drive. I have been going to Spa’s most of my life and hands down the Spa at Salishan had the best atmosphere and views that I have experienced. My partner and I went to the Spa for her 40th birthday trip at the end of July 2024. Walking up the calming mood is set by a beautiful water feature and landscaping. We were welcomed by Ashley who was so helpful, and incredibly kind, professional. Not only that but she was thoughtful and remembered our names, things about our lives, it was extremely personable. The Spa was spotless, and the ambiance was excellent. The music was calming but not overwhelming, and when we checked in we were given a full tour of the facilities. When I say they had the best products to use in the bathroom I mean it, including a hair serum that did wonders for my hair and I ended up purchasing! The outdoor hot tub and the great room face Siletz Bay and Wildlife refuge, so as you relax pre or post treatment you can sit in a cushy lounge chair by the fire and watch the tide come in through the floor to ceiling windows. My partner and I ended up having to reschedule one of our treatments and the spa employees were amazing in helping us to get rescheduled, something that can be difficult when you are only in town for two days! We both scheduled massages with Jenna Lee and Felicity and pedicures and we walked away feeling more relaxed than we have in years. I am talking not grinding my teeth at night relaxed! One of the best massages I have had in a long time. I think everyone would benefit from a visit to this hidden gem on the Oregon coast.

Salishan provides a relaxing and special environment, but its location is a little deceptive. The lodge is on the "coast," but there are no views of the ocean and only glimpses of Siletz Bay in the distance. Salishan has been around since the 60s, and it feels that way today in spite of nominal refurbishments and updates. My partner and I stayed at Salishan for two nights in September for a business meeting. Both evening meals were off property, so I didn't experience normal guest dining.
Pluses: 1. Facilities at Salishan are excellent: Spa, fitness center, and indoor lap pool. Not being a golfer, I can't comment on the quality of the golf course. But, it looks good! 2. Walking around the property is easy for those without mobility problems because of the network of covered paths, though a map is essential at first. The property overall is gorgeous! 3. Staff are uniformly friendly especially at the front desk, and it's clear that customer service is a priority.
Minuses: 1. Rooms are spacious but nowhere near luxurious. Our room (154) had a dated bathroom and less than contemporary decor. Nightstands had power and USB-A ports. Unfortunately, one of the two nightstands wasn't functioning. We moved it around to troubleshoot the problem and discovered wads of dust, cobwebs with trapped dead insects. This was definitely off-putting! Maintenance appeared quickly after we notified the front desk and fixed the power problem. I would not want to be "housebound" in this room. 2. Guests with mobility issues might have difficulty navigating around the property because of stairs and the elevation gain given the hillside location. My partner, for example, did not feel comfortable in walking down to the Salishan Marketplace on the other side of Highway 101. It was the return trip uphill that was the barrier.
Overall, our stay at Salishan was okay! Our two nights for just the room was around $750 making the value proposition rather borderline.

We stayed here for our 14th anniversary. It’s one of those places we’ve driven by numerous times and always talked about staying at. Our anniversary was on a Tuesday, so we stayed Monday-Wednesday. We booked with a government worker/1st responder discount. That plus mid week and it was still ridiculously overpriced but we thought what the heck, it’s our anniversary and it’s supposed to be nice right?
Check in: One person trying to check in a bunch of people, the wait was about 10-15 minutes.
The Room: We paid extra for a larger room with a view…the view was of Siletz Bay, and Highway 101. The room has large windows, none of which open and no air conditioning. The sun bakes the room through the large non-opening windows which forces you to open your balcony door to cool the place off. It was 79 in the room when we checked in. The road noise is pretty bad being elevated back on the east side of Highway 101. So your options are to bake in your room or stay up all night listening to traffic, semi’s exhaust brakes, or accelerating cars because there’s a traffic light right below on the highway. The room (430 in the Chinook building) was worn and old, nothing special and definitely not worth the price paid. Not worth half the price paid. The bathroom lacks an exhaust fan so the mirrors fog up ridiculously and with no opening windows, you’ll be waiting or doing the hair dryer wave to defog, adding to the already stifling hot environment. We added a meat and cheese tray and chocolate covered strawberries, the strawberries were delicious, plump and good sized. The meat and cheese tray was not great and pretty unappetizing. We were thinking it would look like a charcuterie board…nope, just various white cheeses in blocks and some thick Oscar Meyer looking salami flanking some prosciutto.
The grounds/facilities: We did enjoy the Tesla destination chargers which were free with stay, and provided about 45 miles of charge per hour. You do have to leave your car in the main lodge area and walk to your building, but it’s nice to be able to charge up before you set out for the day. The standard parking near each building is covered which is nice, but has several wooden supports that make parking and not dinging up your doors very tricky. We didn’t use the fitness center or pool, or the 2 hour free loaner bikes but after being charged an additional resort fee per day, we probably would have tried to use something. Much of the shops across the highway are closed on Monday & Tuesday, as is their restaurant the Bay House, so we weren’t able to dine there and review.
Summary: Our biggest complaint is the road noise, and the cost for what you get. The grounds are nice, and I’m sure the spa is nice, but as far as staying, we won’t do that again, but at least now we know.

This once great resort hotel has not been maintained and is lousy value for money. We stayed twice in 2024. Both times we had problems getting any hot water. Rooms are in clusters of casitas, on a heavily wooded property. They were rehabbed years ago with nice everything, but problem is that it's all now rundown and needs zillions of dollars to get things right. Hotel was maybe 1/4 occupied but we weren't offered another room despite several calls to front desk. Staff are indifferent at best. Carpets are stained with pet urine. Yes pets are welcome. The package we purchased included resort credit sufficient to buy a lack lustre breakfast at the gift shop/ cafe. There are several places within a 10 minute drive to buy a real breakfast. The main advantage of this place is that you can usually find a room, because it's expensive, when everywhere else is sold out.

My child got 2nd degree burns on his hand from the unprotected fireplace glass in our room. The fireplace was even off at the time and we still heard his skin sizzle. It made for a brutal next few days, and if you’ve ever had a burn, you know the ongoing pain. Super disappointing “hospitality” and “customer service” as they hardly blinked an eye when I explained what happened, talking over the pained cries of my child next to me holding his burned little hand.
Given the blatant disregard for obvious safety measure to be installed on something as dangerous as a fireplace, I would question a whole host of other things at this lodge.
The other obnoxious and very weird feature was the vinyl flooring in the room. No carpet, no rug, just loud vinyl. We had a suite that was on the middle floor and we’re kept awake by the footsteps above us (all night). I think it turned out to be a dog walking around, but the vinyl made it sound like thundering footsteps.
TLDR: no concern for basic safety as my child got 2nd degree burns on his hand from the in-room fireplace gas, and the vinyl flooring is a ridiculous choice in a multi-level hotel if you want guests to sleep soundly without disturbance.

At $640 per night including taxes and fees for a 1 king room you expect a certain level of amenities and service. We had dinner in the Attic their on site restaurant. The food was great but the service horrible. Not once were we asked if we wanted our drinks refilled or how the meal was going. It took 40 minutes to place our food order even though the restaurant was not full. The appetizers and dinner came all at once without individual plates to eat on. I had to go to the bar multiple times to obtain my own salt and pepper and ask for additional beverages. One person's dinner was never brought out yet they attempted to charge us for it. When brought to their attention (another trip to the bar since they hardly checked on us) they did remove the charge and also removed one other dinner charge for the inconvenience. Now onto the room. At this price you expect certain amenities. There were 3 people staying but coffee available only for 2. No mugs or glasses for us to drink out of except paper cups. No qtips, makeup removers in bathroom-the little things that justify a $640 per night charge. The toilet wasnt flushing and almost overflowed due to the lack of water pressure - we had to wait for security to come and deliver a plunger to fix it (and no we did not plug it). First the front desk said we'd have to wait 2 hours for housekeeping thankfully securitywaa able to assist. This was supposed to be a nice relaxing birthay treat for my elderly mother who at one point thought she would have to go to the bathroom in the forest. Seems funy now but not when you're living it at 5 am.

We enjoyed our overnight stay and round of golf and our dinner at the Attic. With the room cost just over $500 and golf and dinner, we spent more than $1000 for the overnight stay. We usually stay at hotels in excess of $500+ per night. At that level you rarely ever not get complementary waters in our room, and we've never stayed in a hotel in this category without having two bathrobes in your room. The dead bugs in the bathroom ceiling fan light was a real turnoff, as was the need to fill your coffee cup with tap water from the bathroom sink to run the coffee maker - never mind the person using the toilet with no door.... For as much as your are charging - your resort can definitely do better in room amenities and cleanliness, if you care about hospitality at this level.

Had the pleasure of visiting the Spa three weeks ago. As someone who has visited spas all over the country, the Spa at Salishan Coastal Lodge is truly a gem among them!
I say this not only as a guest, but as someone who spent nearly a decade working in the hospitality industry. I am keenly aware of the many details that need to be attended to behind the scenes in order to provide such an exceptional guest experience. It is clear that the managers and staff at the Spa carefully attend to even the smallest details.
Ashley, Karissa, Candy and Felicity are so incredibly professional and kind! In particular, Ashley and Karissa went above and beyond to accommodate me. On my way to an afternoon appointment, I ran into traffic coming back from Tillamook. I called to ask if there was any flexibility for the appointment time. Ashley and Karissa made every effort to accommodate me, with Karissa graciously staying past her typical shift end.
To the management of Salishan Coastal Lodge: you are very fortunate to have such an amazing team at the Spa! It is clear that they (along with all of the staff at the Spa) honestly care about their guests and enjoy coming to work each day. They made my experience truly special and memorable - I am already planning my next visit!

Hello Matthew,
Yes the Beach is walking distance from the lodge! One of our many nature trails on property leads you directly to the beach. Just ask the Front Desk when you arrive. Looking forward to welcoming you.
When we stayed in January, our room had a tub/shower combination. I'm not sure whether all rooms are the same or not, but at least some of them will have a tub.
