Drifthaven At Gearhart receives accolades for its comfortable and clean rooms, which guests find cozy and well-appointed, although a few have raised concerns about inadequate lighting and inconsistent cleaning services. The hotel's quaint and cozy atmosphere, enhanced by vintage touches and amenities like breakfast baskets, is often highlighted by travelers. While the amenities including the complimentary breakfast and beach gear are popular, some guests feel the hotel doesn't provide good value, citing high prices and cost of extras. Despite some criticisms regarding service hours and water issues, the thoughtful touches like welcome drinks are well-regarded.

Loved every inch of this place!! So cute! Everything was perfect. The little touches like the hand made mugs and retro electronics were adorable. The beds were so comfy and cozy. The s’mores by the fire were a highlight for the kids. And the big yard to play was a hit, too! We didn’t get to explore the beach, as it was a one night stay. But breakfast and coffee in the morning was outstanding. Thank you!!

Reasonably priced and charming cottage with tiny kitchen to prepare your meals. Clean and updated with pleasant staff. We had a very restful stay in this place. There were windows in all the rooms, including the bathroom, and they take dogs. There was a nice outdoor area for guests with fireplace, barbecue and games.

Saw this place on TikTok and it looked adorable so I decided to book a room for a coastal getaway. Spend most of the day in cannon beach which is a short 20 min drive from here. We did contactless check-in and stayed in room #4. Loved the vibes of this place. Made me feel like I was in a Wes Anderson movie! They have a garage full of bikes, cornhole, beach chairs, and much more that you can borrow/rent. We rented the campfire cart for a fire on the beach about a 7-minute walk away. They also set out breakfast baskets each morning with some sort of pastries, fruit, and OJ which is nice. The only cons of our stay are that we stayed here on a Tuesday and the one dinner spot across the street is closed Tuesday & Wednesday, so we had an early dinner in cannon beach. We were unaware that the guest service desk closes at 6 pm so we didn't get our complimentary welcome drink. The water in the shower was lukewarm and became cold within 5 minutes so we had to make our showers quick. Lastly, I wish they had some free bottled water or a water source for guests other than sink water. Other than that our stay was very enjoyable!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We appreciate the feedback. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are tough to do much out here because we have so many small businesses that close to give their employees days off. There are options on these days and the front desk is happy to share them with you. I do hope you notified us about the hot water. That is not a typical situation for us and we try to correct these things as quickly as possible.

My husband and I visited this past weekend for our anniversary, it’s a very cute place and I think it has a ton of potential with some fine tuning. We paid a little extra for a room with a fireplace, really wanting a cozy vibe for our anniversary and because it’s been so cold lately- so we were disappointed to get there and find out we were knowingly put in a room where the fireplace didn’t work (and was the only heat source). Our room didn’t get above 58 degrees, we had space heaters but they took a long time to heat up the space when coming and going- and ultimately just isn’t what we booked. We were so cold and uncomfortable the first night, and didn’t get a response for 18 hours, at which point we were on our way out for a hike and told we had 1 hour to move to a different room if we wanted it. We had to just drop everything and abandon our plans and move right away if we wanted to be comfortable the second night. Then, we found the new room had a ton of stuff missing (shampoo, tea kettle, French press, etc.).

This place is SO cute, it’s perfectly curated and has such a cozy vintage vibe. The breakfast delivery is such a nice touch, and the walk to the beach is a short one. Ultimately, this place would probably be one of our favorite beach destinations if the customer service was worked on. If the heat is out in the winter, please don’t book people in that room with a space heater without their consent especially if they paid extra for a fireplace.

It wasn’t the cozy anniversary we hoped for, but the inn manager did offer a discount in the future and refunded the pet fee to try to help make it right. I think we would give it another shot based on that effort, and because we so badly want to love it.

We loved our stay, a perfect place for our family and dog! We booked several nights, due to Covid-19 we didn't want to worry about eating out. We stayed in a unit with kitchen, full size fridge and gas stove. Cleanest place I've ever stayed at.
Our unit's decor was a blend of beach cottage and touch's of the era it was built, such as the black and white kitchen counter tops w/the metal trim and seashell wallpaper. Bathroom shower had marble tile, and tile flooring. Super cute!

One night we cooked seafood on their gas grill, down on the large, beautiful grass area. Kathy got me set up on how to use it, and they provided everything we needed.

When my husband suggested a bike ride, I wasn't too excited but I'm glad we did. We borrowed their cruiser style bikes, and peddled around the quaint and quiet little town. A block or two away are public tennis courts and pickle ball courts. The Inn loans out balls and rackets.

The beach is 3-4 blocks away, easy walk with sidewalks.
Early one evening on our trail walk to the beach, the tall grassy field was filled with elk grazing.

We loved our stay here, very quiet and relaxing!

Spent a quick overnight at the Drifthaven and cannot wait to return!
Delicious cocktails upon check in.
Adorable accommodations with a great attention to detail - sweet kitchen glassware, a fabulous retro-style microwave and bluetooth speaker. A wonderfully warm old fashioned fireplace but with a quick gas start. modern TVs, and incredibly comfortable mattress, pillows and towels and everything felt new! We used the complimentary cruiser bikes to leisurely explore and there were other great freebies to borrow - wagons for the beach, beach chairs and more! There was a sweet little outdoor space with fire pits and adirondack chairs to lounge.
Lastly, a great little free breakfast. 2 local pastries, fresh fruit, orange juice and free french press coffee and team in the room along with a very reasonably priced mini bar. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed two nights. Overall it was a nice experience but seemed just a bit expensive for what we got. The hotel is in a quiet residential neighborhood just off 101 and a couple of blocks to the beach, you park right outside your room. It’s basically an old motor court style lodging but all recently updated with lovely landscaping. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well equipped and the ultra cozy soft bed was a standout (but it's pretty low to the floor, could be an issue for the mobility challenged). Lots of extra cost snacks available in the room including a well stocked minibar and a simple breakfast that was left outside both mornings (bottled OJ, fruit, pastry). But it was surprising that our room wasn’t cleaned; there was no mention if it was an option. Bedside tables were tiny. Only one mirror, in the small bathroom. The glass door minibar fridge was noisy and had a light inside that stayed on at night. We didn't get a "welcome cocktail" but if we really wanted it I could have asked at the front desk (which was only staffed part of each day).

My husband and I stayed one night with our kids for a birthday and absolutely loved it. It was beautifully redone with so much attention to detail, even down to the silverware. The handmade art, books you actually want to look at and find interesting, games, drinks/snacks and even fresh flowers were such a nice touch you rarely see anymore! The coffee and tea were delicious as was the beautiful breakfast that was delivered in the morning. I also fell in love with the Heywood Wakefield sideboard and other thoughtfully curated furniture and appliances. The owners we also so kind and accommodating. This place really is a gem! We will definitely be back on our next trip to that part of the coast.

My husband and I stayed in the standard king room and absolutely LOVED our time there. Everything about the room was beautifully curated. The mattress and linens were so soft and cozy. Upon late arrival, we found our room with the lamps on, vintage radio playing, and fireplace going. Perfection. The breakfast basket each morning was a nice addition to the stay and we thoroughly enjoyed the local coffee provided. The soaps provided also smelled heavenly. We took the complimentary bikes and chairs to the beach which was only a 5 minute ride away. The property manager was so kind added the firewood package to our stay last minute which came in a beach wagon with a blanket. Overall, I would tell everyone to stay here again and again. Best stay on the Oregon coast!

What a pleasant surprise to find that my very small room had everything I needed, including a terrific shower and small kitchenette. The room warms up very quickly from the gas stove and the bed was comfortable. Since it was cold on arrival, I'm glad to have had a down comforter to take the chill off until it warmed up.

Good morning, Lydia, Thank you for your inquiry. We do have availability throughout the summer. It is best to call us at 800-352-8034, so that we may better assist you with dates and choice of accommodations. The elk can be quite 'elusive', at this time of year. We never know when they will 'appear'. We did, however, have guests that spotted them on the golf course, one morning, last week. We look forward to speaking with you! Sincerely, Cathy and Staff
