I came in from the coast for a concert at the Hult Center, and chose Downtown Inn because it was within walking distance at a good price. I wasn't expecting anything special and was impressed with the extras in the room: not only a microwave and minifridge/freezer but also an ironing board and iron along with a table and two chairs in addition to the desk. I've been in a lot more expensive, larger rooms that didn't have any practical place to sit down and eat a meal or play cards or whatever. Best of all, the room did NOT reek of fragrance. In fact it was not fragranced at all. And everything was squeaky clean. The heating/cooling system did leave a little to be desired, as another reviewer mentioned, but I'm giving the place five stars anyway because in every other respect it was perfect. I feel as if I've stumbled on a treasure, and I look forward to my next stay.

Great basic motel. Very clean and well kept. Super friendly and helpful front desk staff. Well worth the low price given the ratings of the competition. It was a 5 minute drive, if that, from the University of Oregon.

I had to stay one week in Eugene due to hospital tests. After 4 days in other hotels (not happy) I saw the Downtown Motel as I was getting gas across the street. The gas operator said it was the original Eugene Motel back in the 50's and his mom worked as a maid there when he was a kid. It looked out of the 50's clean and neat. The desk man showed me a room and it had everything for $35 a night- even continental breakfast. I moved there for rest of my stay and was happier there than the fancy $100 a night Phoenix Inn. It was comfy and homey and that's where I will stay whenever in Eugene. All the appliances are expensive and new and the tvs are big 37" and brand new. No coffee maker, tho, but I carry a mug and prong heater, so no problem. The bathroom had the 50's tile showers instead of tubs, but it is clean and very charming. It's on Lawrence and 7th.

I will say this, this motel offers a refrigerator & microwave. I stayed in a 4 star hotel that didn't offer those items. It's a cute, very old fashioned motel. Rooms are large and I giggled at the cute little built in heater in the bathroom. The shower is like a small tiled closet and just made me feel like I stepped back into time. Mattresses are hard as a rock though and my room needed to be renovated as I could see plaster patches and water damage in the bathroom. Continental breakfast is a bit of a joke. Two types of cereal, orange drink, terrible tasting packaged muffins, coffee, basic tea and fruit. Not much to it. All-in-all not a bad experience, just not my usual comfort.

Nice little motel. Average clean rooms and nice tv's with dish network. They also offer free WiFi. We were in walking distance to a good burger joint and convenience store. In the morning there was a free breakfast bar that you could eat there or take back to your room. Overall it was a good stay.

This motel, with clean and well furnished rooms, is but 2-3 blocks from the Hult Center in Eugene, with its concerts and other events. A senior rate night for 2 double beds Feb '12 was $66, taxes and all. While not luxury nor resort, the truly downtown location is great for an inexpensive night when we drive to Eugene for Hult events.

Exterior is not encouraging, but room was very good - a cut above average, but couldn't really rate it as "very good" although it is a good value Very clean, good hot shower, big fluffy towels (Willamette Valley has soft water), solid mattress and confortable pillow, so-so breakfast bar (coffee, cereal, some fruit). Excellent location for moving about downtown Eugene. Frig, microwave, hairdryer.

I stayed at the Downtown Inn while staying in Eugene for a conference that was held at the Hilton Convention Center (next to the Hult Center), .25 miles away. I chose to save my school district $100 per night and slept soundly in a clean and quiet room. It was an easy walk to my meetings, to the AWESOME Keystone Cafe for breakfast and anywhere else I needed to go. And for those who love craft beers, Growler Guys is about 2 blocks away--great service and even better beer selection. I showed up at 8:00 am on the morning I checked it and asked if I could park there. The answer was "yes", and my room was ready, so I checked in. They also allowed me to keep my car parked a couple of hours after checkout, as my meeting concluded. Stay there! There are far better ways to spend the extra $100 a night in Eugene.

All I needed was a comfortable, clean place to stay near the Hilton for a conference that I attended. This motel fit the bill. At $65 per night it was a great value. The motel has recently been remodeled with new showers, new tiles, a granite vanity, trendy interior paint colors, etc. It had a flat screen TV and a lot of cable channels. The carpet was relatively new, probably changed about the same time that the bathroom was remodeled. The rooms are small, the continental breakfast ridiculous (a few apples, some cold cereal, milk and OJ) and between two major roads (which were relatively quiet at night, but the value was great. Stay at the Hilton and you feel like the trains running through town at night are actually in your room. Not at the Downtown Inn where I slept well. I would stay again.

We were traveling on I-5 from California to Washington and wanted to stop in Eugene for the night. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and they were spot on. My husband and I easily found the Downtown Inn and although it is a motel style older property, the room had been updated with a flat screen tv, nice linens, totally re-done bathroom and was very spacious. It was perfect for one night and the property is in walking distance to the downtown shops and restaurants. The representative at the front desk was very pleasant. They offer a continental breakfast, but we got on the road before 7 AM, so didn't try that. The price was amazing - we paid $70 and that was with tax! Would definitely recommend the Downtown Inn if you need a place to stay in Eugene.
