Two factors make this hotel excellent-the physical nature of the hotel and the staff. Set in downtown, it is sparkling clean, comfortable furniture, large TV, great bathroom, free and ample parking, a good "to go" breakfast (considering COVID restrictions) and more. I don't know why but even the room doors are more quiet than others-usually the heavy doors slam making a horrid noise and these didn't. The staff go out of their way to be helpful with whatever requests you may have. Clearly, management stresses customer relations with their employees and it shows.
If I hadn't stayed at this property during the pandemic, I could easily give it another star. But over the course of 24 hours, we ran into two different housekeepers in the hallway not wearing masks, and saw they also didn't wear them while cleaning rooms. When we first checked in, we were told our room was still being cleaned. Here on tripadvisor, it says there's a minimum of 24 hrs between guests in each room. I asked about this, and was told that's only if you *request* it, and because they didn't have many of the rooms we booked (1 bedroom with king bed), it was "impossible" to have 24 hours between guests. She told us there was a room "that no one ever wants" that we could have. She said it had a queen bed instead of a king, so we said ok. We went to the room she assigned to us, and it hadn't be cleaned. We went back downstairs, and she sent us to another room--supposedly the one with the queen bed, except it was a double bed. Whatever, we just wanted to settle in. PROS: The room was very big, and there are plenty of places to put your personal items. Lots of desk space AND a kitchen table, which is rare. The front desk people were friendly, even if slightly confused. The view out our window was of two beautiful trees changing colors--one vibrant red, the other gold. Very good sunlight in the room. Easy access to a market across the street, and several restaurants in walking distance. MEH: The quality of furnishings looked good, but was kind of rinky-dink. A lot of things were hanging by hinges or just plain fell off the wall when we touched them. The automatic blinds kept getting jammed. There was a fair amount of street noise. Free breakfast was mediocre. No waffles, plastic bags with omelets you microwave in your room, no cut fruit, no juice. BAD: The aforementioned lack of masks. In addition, we were passed by another maskless employee in the lobby on his way home for the day. There was hand sanitizer in the lobby, but not at the elevator banks. We reported this to Home2 Suites corporate. After we checked out, we got an email from the manager apologizing and saying she'd issue us a certificate for a free stay. We haven't received it, but also wouldn't want to use it; why would we stay again at a property where covid safety wasn't taken seriously? I'd stayed at a Hyatt House a few weeks earlier, and they were way more serious about covid safety, with more lineage, touches hand sanitizer everywhere, and a better breakfast. Our room was $170 with tax, which seems like a lot for what we got. Can't recommend.…
5 nights and no complaints. Quiet, clean, actually everything looks new. Free parking, great location, friendly staff. I love that the doors close quietly too. (I’m sitting in another hotel right now listening to door after door slam) Well stocked kitchen, you can even request a burner free of charge. Due to covid breakfast is a bag with fruit, granola bar or muffin, plus a choice of microwaveable egg bowl, danish, bagel or yogurt (different options each day).
Really liked this property. First time staying in a Home2. Room was really intuitive - the rolling table, the lamps, the window shades, the timer on the ventilation fan in the bathroom....all spot on.
This was a quick overnight “let’s rest before heading home” type of stay. First and foremost being that we’re in a middle of a pandemic I was expecting for our room to be spotless. I went in before my family sprayed and wiped down with lysol and I’m glad I did because the kitchenette area had food residue/ crumbs with what looked like coffee cup stains and I feel that something as obvious as this should not have been missed, so it left an uncertainty in me. I feel housekeeping as well as management should do a better job so that guests can feel comfortable and most importantly safe. They should ensure that their “Lysol sponsored” sealed rooms are thoroughly cleaned. Room was averages and had what was necessary for the night. It seemed to be situated in a good area. Coffee and food down the street so it was perfect for getting back on the road. …
