We attended the convention there, but stayed elsewhere. Yes, it is quite a mess now. According to management, the remodeling is way behind and was to be done before the convention. That was just poor planning/management and they discounted rooms 10% because of it. Otherwise, people were nice and food was good. Location is ok if you want downtown. I would stay away until the remodeling is done.

This hotel is in transition. They ought not to be booking conferences before they can provide basic services. The employees are gracious, but overwhelmed. I have asked 7 times in 2 days for a functioning in-room coffee maker. I have an ironing board, but no iron and a tv but not a remote control to turn it on. There is not a dresser in my room, thus no storage drawers. A microwave (which they do not claim is provided) would be nice to heat water for instant coffee, since they have provided brew packets but, as I said, no actual, functioning coffee maker. Several folks also here for Conference DO have both microwaves and coffee pots, so perhaps this is to encourage socializing among guests? And finally, although I snagged a parking spot I am one of the lucky few; large sections of the parking garage are occupied by construction materials and equipment. In short, I have never paid so much for so little. On a purely personal note, the decor is horrible. I understand it is supposed to evoke a 70s-dorm-room feel, but I do not believe that any dorm room in the history of higher education ever sported a lamp in the form of Athena (I'm guessing based on the owl) holding a giant magnet pointing at a lamp in the shape of a waffle iron. Maybe a frat house?
