The lodge's reviews on the Internet are pretty good, so I booked a room there since it was close to Crater Lake. I probably wouldn't stay at the lodge again. It is an older motel along a fairly busy highway and you can hear the road noise easily. I used the A/C-dehumidifer on fan to create a white noise barrier. The TV in our room was an old CRT/analog TV, so be aware that not all rooms have updated TVs. When we were ready to take a shower, the hot water knob in the tub was broken, so no shower for us that day. When we checked out, we reported the hot water knob issue and were told that maintenance had been notified several times. The good part about the motor lodge is that it was very clean and the price was good. The beds were okay.

Pros and cons of our stay at The Woodsman Country Lodge: Pros: * Friendly front desk attendant who was pleasant and helpful * Nice, on-theme wooden furnishings (table and chairs, dresser, tables, bed frame, lamp) were beautiful and worked well in the room * Cute little patio area for each room, with a small table, two chairs, and an umbrella * Microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker in room * Roomy bathroom * Big Foot Tavern across the street had excellent food, fun shuffleboard table, and friendly locals Cons: * Immediately upon entering the room, it was obvious someone had been burning incense. That begged the question: “What smell were they trying to cover up… and why incense?” I really dislike the smell of incense and it has no place in a hotel room. * After awhile it became clear that the incense was an attempt to cover the smell of urine that was strongest under the bathroom counter, but was obvious from any point in the room (though much more faint in the room). * The bedspread was rumpled, as if someone had been lying on it after it was made. * The sheets were red and the towels green. People want crisp white sheets that are washed in hot water and bleached between customers. The colored linens were on theme with a woodsman’s cottage, but can’t be as sanitary as white sheets/towels since they can’t be washed in the same way. * I’m not sure the sheets were washed anyway, as there was a dusty-looking, smudgy line down the length of the bed on one side. Think three foot long makeup smudge. * As soon as we arrived, my husband went to wash his hands and the hot water knob fell off in his hand. It was clearly split down the middle and put back in place. Whether some sort of glue was used, it’s not clear. The cold water tap knob also appeared split, but didn’t come off. We only had cold water at the bathroom sink during our stay. Overall, this room felt like a night at Uncle Brad’s single wide in the woods, one that Aunt Carol tastefully decorated, but Uncle Brad kept adding his own touch to with garage sale finds. There was a solid start to the woodsman theme, but it became cluttered and distasteful with the pinecone drapes, elk shower curtain, and clear toilet seat covered in bullets. The room felt and smelled like Uncle Brad had a few too many drunken boys’ weekends here, and didn’t bother to tote the laundry back home for Aunt Carol to wash.

The very best thing about this unique little gem is the staff! Lana and Christine were SO kind, and helpful, and inviting. You don't get this kind of personal "innkeeper" kind of service from a "big box" chain. Next, the themed and unique rooms just make for a fun stay. And everything was super clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!!

Had to book a couple rooms last minute but the service was excellent, they are pet friendly which was a must with our family, and the cabin woods theming was adorable! The room itself was very comfy, and the detail was something you might see at a Disney themed hotel. Everything, including the lamp shades, shower hooks, and toilet seat was the perfect cabin feeling.

Great place to stay for your Southern Oregon trip to Crater Lake National Park and Diamond Lake. Friendly staff and great rustic clean rooms. Continental breakfast included. Good restaurant next door or Manley Tavern around 15 miles away for the best Fried Chicken I have had in years Highly recommend!

We had hoped to stay in Crater Lake NP but didn’t reserve early enough. This hunting lodge in the very small community of Crescent was a good stop further down the road toward our destination. The room was visibly clean and comfortable. Old tube TV. Check in was easy. The staff were very pleasant. A caveat: it is very much decorated like a hunting lodge. So our room had lots of deer type decor. The room also had a strong smell of stale smoke so I don’t think folks honor their non smoking room policy. This was a bit disappointing. Overall would stay there again if could ensure a smoke free room.

Woodsman Country Lodge is easily the best locally owned motel we have ever stayed in, bar none. Friendly folks at check-in and a great country cafe and bar next door started our stay off right. Our room (#1) was clean and had comfortable beds, new (or new looking) tile in the bathroom. “Woodsy” decor, attractively done throughout. But what we really appreciated were all of the personal and thoughtful touches: -A roll of paper towels -Outlet power strips everywhere you might want to plug something in. Not fancy, and simply attached to the wall, but oh so convenient! - Normal coffee maker - Lots of hook’s and places to hang things We pass thru the area once a year or so and have typically stayed in Bend but now will plan the Woodsman.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we visited Crater Lake and it worked fine for us. We were 40 miles from the north entrance to the park - so it was convenient. We booked this hotel due to the lack of other options in close proximity to Crater Lake. We were greeted cordially and the check in process was easy and pleasant. Our room was decorated heavily in a woodsy theme as mentioned in other reviews. It appeared clean and the beds were comfortable. The TV’s are very old style and there was a note telling you how to fix a “fuzzy” picture but ours worked fine. We unplugged the air freshener (someone else mentioned in a prior review) as they are not healthy to breathe. We checked out the breakfast and opted to pass as there was very little offered, However, it’s nice that they offer that anyway! Our biggest complaint was road noise. The lodge sits right next to a busy highway and we could hear loud traffic all hours of the night. Fortunately, we were very tired so slept ok. There is no grocery store in town. We walked to a Dollar General, which took all of 3 minutes, and purchased waters. We didn’t patronize any of the local restaurants, but there is a Subway in a Pilot gas station a few miles (maybe 10?) down the road on your way to or from Crater Lake. All in all, it served its purpose for our needs - which was someplace to stay while visiting the National Park. I would stay here again!
