Although it's on the edge of nowhere it is the closest reasonably priced lodging to Crater Lake National Park. Those who expect luxurious accomodations should look elsewhere, but if you are hear to partake of the most beautiful(and deepest) lake in North America, the owners are knowledgeable, friendly and well acquainted with the area. They will even adjust their satellite TV to any channel you wish. All you have to do is ask.
THIS PLACE IS READY TO FALL DOWN. It's says it was built in the 1950 and I am sure there has NO renovation since then. Outside visible dry rot on exterior, broken concrete sidewalks room doors with bedroom door locks, no deadbolts. Inside the room, circa 1950 furnishings, no A/C, visible mold and mildew and it comes with a half dozen flies. Poor internet (router has to be rebooted multiple times). Continental breakfast consists of make your own coffee and store bought stale pasties, no juice, no place to sit down. Upon check-in, I was greeted by two dogs jumping on me. I am sure this place would not pass either a health or building inspection.
Odd experience, quaint rooms furnished with antiques and unusual furniture and fixtures, comfortable beds, small bathrooms but hot showers. The owner is a pack rat and her quarters were filled to overflowing with every manner of junk. Breakfast was an odd affair, standing up eating junk food.
No air-conditioning, so you suffer until after 9 or 10 pm when its cooled off. The rooms are old and the carpet is dirty. They dont even come in to clean the rooms and out clean towels. The market outside is trashy due to hording
Wouldn’t even take our shoes off . Sheets were clean but wouldn’t step into the shower, we just cleaned ourselves best we could stuck a hat on and got out of there. Do not stop drive 2 hours if you have to.
The owners are lovely, the location great for the crater lake area at a lower price, and the room very clean and comfortable. The best part? Their wall of VHS tapes of all the best movies that they let you borrow to play in your room.
This is not a fancy place so if you want that look elsewhere. This is an old style motor inn that is rapidly disappearing. The owner is on site and is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. My room was old but very clean and comfortable. I wish I could find more places like this.
Staff was very friendly. The place is a bit old, but clean. It's nice being able to back right up to the motel room door and we enjoyed the selection of VHS tapes! The motel is very close to Crater lake's north entrance and very reasonably priced.
As others have said, the outside could use some work. Our room was very clean. Yes, it is on a busy highway, but we turned on the fan in the room and we weren't bothered by road noise. The drive to Crater lake was easy and didn't take long. The restaurant across the highway is excellent. We had a great breakfast there before setting out for the day. We would have eaten dinner there on the evening we arrived, but they close at 7:00. We were running late due to having to deter because of the fire east of Roseburg. Shelia is such a nice person. She was helpful in every way possible. I definitely recommend this motel to anybody who needs a clean, reasonably priced room near Crater Lake. If you need luxury, this isn't the place.
For the price--$65 at the height of the tourist season--I have to give the motel an Excellent. I suppose I agree with many of the comments of those who gave a lower overall rating, but the motel doesn't pretend to be the Ritz. Sheila, the manager, is friendly and goes out of the way to assist. Bottom line: it's a clean, friendly, fairly priced, conveniently located motel in a rather isolated part of Oregon.
