Detailed Reviews
We have been camping in this beautiful location for the past five years. Prior to being bought by Sun Outdoors, this was a charming, well-run facility with owners who truly cared about delivering the best recreational experience possible. Since the acquisition by Sun Outdoors, we feel the experience has gone downhill, despite the large corporate capital investment in restrooms, WiFi, and high-end cabins (for which there is a two-night minimum totaling over $400). The on-site crew is cheery and helpful, but overworked due to understaffing, so they close early and often. The "free WiFi" is totally useless, and the Premium WiFi, offered by a very user-unfriendly third-party, is spotty and difficult to initiate. We don't go on vacation to use the Internet, BUT, if you are going to advertise it as an amenity (and attractive to those who might HAVE to use it for work while the rest of the family plays), you need to know it sucks.
The cost of staying here has doubled in the past five years, and that is NOT all due to inflation.
Overall, I don't think we'll be coming back any time soon.

We loved this little place. The site was level for our class b RV and access to the beach was great. We were also impressed with the facilities including bathrooms and showers . They were spotlessly clean and this is the only RV park I have ever stayed at that had hot showers with great water pressure. Also the dog wash station is something that I never thought I needed but was a great extra!! The hosts were really friendly and helpful! I hope to make it back for another stay.

We're so glad to hear this! We take pride in our clean, comfortable facilities and friendly staff. And when our canine guests have a chance to explore the ocean and beach areas, well....we know a dog wash is likely to follow. Thanks for the great review, and we hope you come back again soon!

Beautiful property located on the Oregon Coast. Fantastic beach for walking, clamming and crabbing. One side is bordered by rock cliffs and tidal pools. Unusual geographical feature where ocean waves are guided through a narrow channel of rocks on the cliffs. If conditions are right, giant splash waves are formed.
We stayed in one of the small cottages. They appear to be new. Very clean and comfortable.
Nice local town with excellent restaurant choices. We enjoyed meeting the new manager, Ben. He was extremely accommodating and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The property is in great hands!

I would absolutely not recommend this RV park. They do not have enough parking. There is room for one small vehicle to be parked in front of the cottages. We were informed when making our reservation that they had ample overflow parking. In reality there is 4 spots and 2 spots more on the other side of the park. This is not enough! Multiple people are going to have more then one vehicle. This is what happed when we arrived! No parking anywhere! We towed a boat hours away from home and had no place to park it. When making the reservation we were lied to and told there was plenty of parking and the employee even went so far to say we could park the boat in front of the cottage. We had family members that stayed in a RV spot and desperately we parked the boat in the dirt/sand in there RV campsite. We were told we had to move the boat because it was on the grass. There was absolutely no grass. Maybe dead grass that was covered with dirt and sand at best. If you are staying in a RV camp site beware you will not be able to utilize most of the space. The staff will make you move any extra vehicles or boats even if you are in your designated spot. Customers want to use the RV camp site not look at dead grass. After bagging staff to find a resolution and not wanting to drive hours back home, we were given the option to park the boat in a parking lot detached from the main park with no lights or security. The next morning the license plate for the boat trailer was missing. We stayed in a vacation rental. The units floor was dirty. I found a lot of hair. The loft area was not unusable. The stairs are extremely steep and small. The bottom stair was broken, half attached and hoisted up with wooden blocks. The mattresses were very soft with no support and uncomfortable. We will not be back. When checking in was informed of a damage deposit of $150. The employee told me it falls right off upon leaving. I was not informed of any $150 fee when making the reservation. This is not a hold they actually charge your card. It does not come right off upon checkout! I called three days after checkout and was told by the same employee that told me it would “fall right off” that it takes time. She informed me, First housekeeping has to look at the room, then they have to OK it with management, then management has to OK it with accounting department, then she said who knows how long it’s gonna take your bank. In reality it took over a week after checking out for the business to issue the $150 damage deposit refund.

We have stayed at Oceanside many times and I will continue giving it a star for the grounds. It’s a nice park tucked back from the road. There’s usually easy beach access, but that was wiped away this year and it appears as though they are trying to fix it.
Their customer service, however, is completely lacking. Management does not return phone calls or emails. Front desk staff is rude and condescending. Rules have changed since the new corporation purchased the property a few years ago and additional fees are tacked onto your stays quickly and without explanation. We were fined because we asked a friend to meet us at our cottage for a quick lunch. The office called as soon as my friend parked her car and we were told we were going to be charged for having an extra car and people at the park model. Apparently no one other than others staying in the park are allowed in, even if it’s just for a couple of minutes. I contacted management through email but have been ignored. I’m so sorry to have to part ways with Oceanside, because I have years of great memories there. But we will now start renting a weekend cabin from Bay Point when we go to Charleston.

I reserved my RV spot directly with the facility and not central reservation number. Was given spot 30, upon arrival spot 10 next to the road. Farthest spot f trying the beach. They have a bogus extra charge of $25 to “freeze” your spot or you are subject to be moved. We arrived at 11:30 and spot 10 was open, we were not allowed to check in until 1 as the spot had to be cleaned???????? There was a rotting wooden picnic table and a fire pit. The back of the site was covered in blackberry vines. Now to make matters worse I have been overcharged. I have called their office three times; left two voice mails and spoke direct to someone who assured me manager would call. That was 5 days ago.

Reserved this place 7 months prior for a reunion, about 60 people from all over the northwest attended and were harassed, charged extra, and some who made reservations prior ended up without a place to stay for 2 nights because the office didn't put in the correct dates. On the day of the reunion, they tried to keep us out of the yurt we rented until 3 pm, we always eat at noon and needed access by 10 am to get it ready for those coming. After getting Covid, I personally canceled my reservation and they refused to reimburse my $200. I guess I should have gone into the office, but was a decent person and chose to remain home to keep from spreading it. Nothing but disappointment.

Our main complaint is we waited in the social distancing line at the office to check out, four people were ahead of us. By the time it was our turn it was 11:50 am and we were told that we would be charged a $20 late fee. My husband argued about that and explained we had been waiting 15 plus minutes but we were told by the lady that she would talk to the manager to see if it could be reversed. We were charged $20 on our credit card and it was never reversed.

We were charged $25 for a locked site. We didn't request or get one. I emailed the next morning and my card was very quickly refunded. Check in was easy. The set up was a little weird and sites are pretty close to each other but it was nice for one night. It's very close to Cape Arago. The sounds of the bay are noisy and there was a clang of something that I heard all night- that may be peaceful and relaxing for some! The store was nice and I wish we would have had time to explore the beach access and other amenities. Wifi access was good.

We set up a campsite in one of their beachside spots, and had a wonderful stay. The staff at check-in were very nice, and their store was perfect for anything we were missing (and a quick coffee in the morning). The Bastendorf beach access was a perfect addition to our camping. We fell asleep hearing the ocean behind us, and had a wonderful spot to leave from each day for our trips to Shore Acers, Bandon, and Coos Bay. Getting up to use their bathroom in the middle of the night felt safe, and the bathrooms were well lit and clean.
