We had a mixup on rooms to start but The Waves got us taken care of. View of ocean and beach was great, room was clean, Would stay here again! Anything we needed, just ask and it was taken care of. Restaurants, a bakery, tavern and whiskey bar all within a short walk. A great location for a walk to Haystack rock. Was also able to cook meals in room. Would recommend asking and making sure in advance what room you will be getting, ocean front or ocean view, and there is also a price difference. Recommend the Flagship buildings, right on beach!

Good view, although cars could park in front of our patio/deck on the first floor.... good bed. Only 1 easy/arm chair in the room. Two would have been nice. Great location. Good COVID response from staff. Either too dark or too bright - lighting was either/or, BUT would go back in a second!

The Waves can't be beat with its ocean front views and our room was right on the beach. It had everything we needed including a nice recently update kitchenette. Also proximity to town is great, everything is pretty much within walking distance. Staff was very friendly although we only spoke on the phone due to Covid regulations. One thing we were beyond impressed with was how well maintained the grounds are! You can see this place is well loved I wouldn't hesitate in booking a room again here!

I made a reservation online. However it is difficult to tell from the pictures just what you are getting room wise. However we thought we had a condo with a full kitchenette. We have stayed at The Waves since the 90s. After our last stay we requested that we not be assigned accommodations up several flights of stairs since they do not give access to the lift and my husband is disabled. Isn’t that. Violation of ADA? Imagine our surprise when we discovered we were in a guest room without a kitchenette, in the same area, up three flights of stairs and the lift was broken. Since my husband is disabled the room was unacceptable. I requested to be moved to condo. As a customer who has stayed there since the 90s I expected some consideration. There was none; take it or leave. We left. Should I have called to make sure they knew of my husband’s disability? Probably. Did I think as a frequent return customer they would have a record of request? Yes. Be very sure you know what you are getting when you reserve at The Waves. They do not give any consideration to return customers. Nor do they keep records . I specifically requested that we not be assigned a room up three flights of stairs due to my husband’s disability. Yet that is where we found ourself. They refused to provide different accommodations. On a positive we have better accommodations at the same price. We will never return to The Waves.

Milo3_10, I'm glad you were able to find hotel in Cannon Beach and I hope you enjoy your stay. I will agree that our website can be confusing with over 22 different types of unique floorplans. But the pictures and text descriptions of each room are accurate to that room, so when you select a room you are selection that exact room. Nobody 'gets put' anywhere, you get what you select when you book directly, as you did. I also agree it would have been wise to call if you had a specific need just to make sure. The last time you stayed with us in 2016 you stayed in the room right next door to the one you selected (which does have a full kitchenette but same # of stairs), prior to that you stayed with us in 2014 also in a 2nd floor flagship unit. About 65% of the over 5000 guests we have on an annual basis are return guests and many have been coming for decades and are close friends. I'm sorry we were full and couldn't offer you any other options. We have several assessable rooms in our 9 different buildings and had we had anything to offer I would have (actually my wife who you spoke with would have offered it) if something was available. You didn't mention we provided a full refund of your deposit. I'm happy you have found a new option for when you visit Cannon Beach, as the behavior and rudeness you expressed to my staff and to my wife for a situation they did not create was rather tacky. Throwing the key onto the desk is a nice touch. The two reviews you have left in 10 years on Trip Advisor tell me all I need to know. Our 3rd generation locally owned and family operated business hasn't been around since the early 70's for not respecting our return guests as well as our new guests. Regards, Greg Swedenborg Owner, The Waves Cannon Beach

We stayed for one night on our coast/forest road trip. Should have stayed longer! We stayed in the White Heron building. The views were incredible. Easy walk to town. Beach right outside. Great for stargazing, sunset watching and just relaxing!
