This place almost does it for us, with a few improvements this would be a great place to return.

We come to Bend every summer, and tiring of the expense of Airbnb’s in the area, decided to give this more budget friendly hotel a go. The concept is great but not executed well.

We were placed into a first floor room across the street, which one would think would be quieter, but most people have dogs so it was actually quite noisy. Hotel provides earplugs which I found sufficient to block most noises, but my husband had a hard time sleeping with barking dogs.

Rooms are fine - what you would expect at this price point - a little dank smelling which I’m guessing is from previous ownership. It definitely feels like our room had been smoked in though. Additionally, our TV did not work (only wanted to watch the US Gymnastics Olympic Trials!) and when we picked up the hotel phone to notify the front desk… realized the phone line was cut? Is the phone supposed to be decorative or functional? We still do not know.

Outside our room we had quite a few street people come in, sit in the chairs and smoke their cigarettes… which is not pleasant for a relaxing experience.

Our room had a fridge and a microwave, but no coffee. Had to hike across the street to get a cup from the front desk, not a big deal but a minor annoyance to my spouse. Hotel does not provide breakfast.

The pool left a lot to be desired. The heater was not on so the water was almost unbearably cold. The hot tub was nice, there are sign ups to ensure people are socially distancing, but most guests did not sign up or follow the hotel’s policy on this. The worst part by far was the music. You cannot escape the depressing folksy tunes because you’re sitting under giant speakers. My husband talked to everyone at the pool and agreed it was so awful as to warrant a call to the front desk, at which point he was told they are required to play the folk music but they could try to find something a little more upbeat. Nope, still awful.

Bar / lounge area are closed. Feels like a bit of false advertising when the website boasts a heated pool, bar and lounge.

Campfire was fun, usually crowded with smokers in the evenings, but we did meet some interesting people.

TLDR; this place could be spectacularly awesome with all the amenities the website boasts, and better execution of the theme they’re going for. We will not stay here again unless improvements are made.

We have two kittens who are traveling with us. We chose the Campfire Hotel specifically because it referenced “pets” versus “dogs” in their hotel policies: “There is a $25 pet fee per night, per pet. Pets cannot be left unattended in the guest rooms at any time for any reason. Pets must be leashed and secured any time they are outside of guest rooms. Guests are responsible for clean up and all pet actions. Pets are not allowed in the hot tub/pool areas. Any additional cleaning due to a pet will be subject to up to a $250 fee.” We were shocked upon arrival to learn it is a “dog friendly” establishment rather than a “pet friendly” establishment as we were lead to believe by the hotel policies we reviewed. Perhaps it is important to add that the temperature in Bend drops to close to freezing overnight at this time of year. I would strongly suggest that clarification is required with the hotel policies as not everyone’s “pet” is a dog.

Overall, this hotel was clean and hipster as anything. Stayed one night. The room was down a hallway so the light wasn't great but the room itself was fine and decorated to the nines in hipster camping motif. Not a ton of amenities int eh room (aka coffee). The front desk was there for the paycheck, which is fine but I recommend booking online since it's cheaper. I actually called the front desk and asked if they could match the same deal as online and forgo the third party booking cost and they said no. So, I booked online and saved $30/night. The pool, canteen, and fire pit scene have a party vibe and can be loud at night so if you're not into that, you may get annoyed.

This hotel used to be a chain roadside motel. Whoever these Campfire People are, I really like them! They've redone an older motel and made it fresh and friendly.

The pool is a little cold for my taste, but the hot tub is perfect and there's plenty of room to be in a chaise lounge to get a few rays.

The rooms have USB chargers, comfy beds and tasteful touches like high quality pillows, folding chairs to use outside and decent soaps.

The main attraction is the campfire - a large propanne fire pit that runs daily from 4:00 to 10:00. The city of Bend requires them to shut down at 10:00, so get down there and roast a marshmallow before the fire gets turned off.

Our delux room came with a tuned guitar and balcony view of the pool. Pretty sweet.

Free coffee in the lobby 24/7. $20 buckets of beer, S'mores kits to go, mimosa kits to go too.

I booked this hotel for a long weekend trip to Bend. This is one of the most dog friendly hotels I've stayed in which is very important to me. When I checked in the front desk staff was very accommodating, moving me from a room near the front of the motel to one back away from the main roadway. I was also able to get a early check-in. The rooms were large and redone very nicely. The cute "campfire" touches were cool and the room was clean, with a very comfortable bed. There was also a little fridge in the room. Only thing I would have liked to have had was a microwave but there is one in the lobby guests can use (I'm just lazy). This place has that redone motel hipster vibe (which I love), with music playing on speakers across the property, an awesome fire pit, adorable lobby and nice pool and hot tub area. I stayed in the north building which was nice because it was near all the amenities but during the first night of my stay there were some VERY loud dudes at the fire pit after midnight. I slapped my airpods in and when I woke back up a little later they were gone, having been sent to bed by the front desk staff.

This is an older motel that has been remodeled, so the walls are a little thin and you can hear your neighbors if they are loud. In recognition of this, ear plugs are provided, which are a nice, funny touch. The shower was lovely - awesome water pressure.

Couple of notes - this property is located in an interesting area of town with transient folks wandering around the street behind the property. I was a little nervous at first but the property has cameras all over it and there were no issues. The location ended up being great for quickly accessing all Bend has to offer. Another note, when the property is fully booked, parking can be a little tight. I had no issues since I would get back in the afternoon but for those arriving in the evening, street parking was sometimes all that was left

Overall really enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

We checked into a king superior room which was decorated nicely with a rustic theme and had a nice mountain view. During checkin I had confirmed that the room would be quiet. Well after returning to the room later, the music was on at the cantina below which caused the floor to vibrate and understandably people were socializing st the pool. We were not happy. They switched us to a musty, dark nterior room looking out on corridor which was quieter but they gave campfire chairs within 50 feet of our room which guests used to sing Koombaya loudly til 1am. I was able to get $60 off per night for the downgrade after a call to booking.com and 2 conversations with front desk. I should have known right away that noise would be a problem when earplugs were provided at no charge. We did enjoy the live music on Thursday early evening. I think we are not hip enough for this place because we like peace and quiet after a very active day. Light sleepers or anyone with sleep issues should avoid this hotel. Because this is more of a party scene the outdoor grounds were a bit dirty with cigarettes and dog poo between the 2 buildings.

Stayed 3 nights. The vibe is hip and modern and young. Pool is fun and the food cart was tasty. The housekeeping was horrible. I realize there is a worker shortage but there is no excuse to have blood spots on the duvet and a dirty sock under the bed. I informed the front desk where they said they couldn’t deduct any money from the price of the room because it “was prepaid” (which it wasn’t) but I could have a free T-shirt and they would clean the room as soon as we left (9am). When we had returned to the hotel at 4pm the room was still untouched and housekeeping was gone. Disgusting! They pulled a woman doing laundry to come to the room and put on new bedding while we waited outside in the heat.

This place is cute and the staff are well-meaning. I probably would not stay again and I definitely would not stay for more than one night.

Things that are not cute:
•Not enough beach towels for the pool.
•Not enough room towels to get more than one per guest in your room.
•Having to go up to the front desk to retrieve things that should have been in the room but were not—like enough towels or hangers for the clothing rack.
•Competing with locals for the pool and hot tub (both pool club members and people sneaking into the pool).
•Pool doesn’t open until 9 am—as if adults don’t like to exercise in pools or relax in hot tubs before their day starts.
•No housekeeping during your stay—even if your stay is a week.
•King rooms that don’t appear to be designed to be King rooms, where the television is not centered in front of the bed and there is only one bedside lamp.
•Peeling wallpaper.
•Vintage bathroom fans—for that feeling of showering on a working airstrip.
•Vintage HVAC, so you can have nightmares about mold.
•Cutting off late checkout and not accepting late checkout requests before the morning of.

So yeah, it’s fine if you want cute selfies by the pool or whatever. If you’re actually looking for a place that can provide you a nice stay, I’d look elsewhere.

We checked out within the hour. The room had an awful smell. The air conditioning could not keep up with the temperature outside and the room was stifling. The lighting was very dim. Based on the feeling of the room I did a bed bug check. No bed bugs, but a brown smeared stain on the mattress cover (that is one of those zip on kinds and obviously had not been washed in awhile) and tons of hair (not mine). There were people directly outside our door chain smoking and hacking. I’m sure that contributed to some of the smell in the room. While this hotel is very Instagram worthy with their lobby, pool and other branding it is all lipstick on a pig. My kids were nearly in tears before we checked out. Luckily we found another room in town about a $100 more for the night but well worth the peace of mind. The front desk clerk was very pleasant and responsive. She was very busy and I felt bad that she didn’t have additional help. I was also put off to later read that this had been a Covid hotel. If that is true, with the hotel’s lack of cleaning, I am even happier that we opted NOT to stay here.

One of the most unique places I've ever stayed--out of 50 countries. Feels like you're in that Eastern Oregon ponderosa campground, as the rebooted hotel wraps around a HUGE campfire, circled with cool chairs, the saltwater blue splash pool and hot tub, a killer bar and cantina overlooking, crazy good food and music playing, orange lights dangling from the trees. Rooms come with acoustic guitars, decor is historic wood and iron. Perfect place to get that camping lifestyle with the modern perks, like AC, heat and shower, tons of room to dry gear, best friend friendly. I can see this place in summer, like a desert oasis party, or winter in a puffy coat free jam fire circle...and location is great, by big store for re-supplies, or a few blocks from the best eat/drink/shop districts and parks and riverfront. Was a great two day stay. Thx CH!
