There are a couple of different accommodation options when staying at this hotel; I can only comment on the old-style motel rooms which are situated right on the edge of the bluff. We chose the Sunset Oceanfront Lodge as it was affordable, and I was especially looking forward to being right on the edge of the beautiful Oregon coast for the night - I wasn’t disappointed! The block we stayed in was older style and quite ‘no frills’, however the décor was very coolly retro, comfortable & well laid out. The main draws for me when booking was the view and proximity to the cliff edge, the fact there are only 4 or 5 units in this section, the large double glass sliding doors (patio doors as we call them in the UK) and the fireplace. It was also handy to have a restaurant close by (although Bandon has some other options downtown & if we were staying longer, we would’ve tried them out too!) and there are facilities in the main building, including a small indoor pool. We stayed on a Wednesday night in mid-May, so it wasn’t massively busy at that time – 3 of the units were filled including ourselves) but we never heard any noise from our fellow guests. It was a stormy evening & quite drizzly (so I never got to walk on the beach or get the pics I had hoped) but it was still beautiful & mesmerising watching the waves crashing on the very picturesque beach. There is a wooden set of stairs that go all the way down from the parking lot outside the block, but as I say, it was quite wet and we didn’t fancy getting drenched or slipping on the steps (but if you were slightly fitter & better prepared than we were e.g. with an anorak/slicker/coat, you would most likely still go for a wander as it was so pretty from up top, I can only imagine it would be lovely to walk along the beach). We opted instead to settle in on the sofa, light the fire with the materials provided & watch the ocean roiling. There was a kitchen area in our room, table & chairs, 2 sleeping areas, a decent sized bathroom & a cozy sitting area. We slept well in the cozy bed & all was clean/comfy. I really would’ve enjoyed a few nights here to make the most of the kitchen & the porch area (which had chairs on to sit & enjoy the view). Going back to check in & staffing, we were greeted by a pleasant chap who had suggestions for things to do in Bandon & provided us with a map etc, he also pointed out the pool & advised there was complimentary coffee/juice/pastries available in the morning. Check out was also quick and easy the following morning, but we skipped the continental breakfast as we usually prefer to hit the road & grab a diner breakfast later on. I would stay here again in a flash.

We reserved two rooms for two days for my mom's birthday. The rooms were noisy from 4am on, and smelled like wet dogs. There was no “ocean view” even though both rooms were advertised as such. They knew I have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and needed sleep, and my mother who has cancer stayed in the other room, I informed them of our situation when I made the reservations. My bill came to $560.00 to GET NO SLEEP in a room that smelled of dog. My mother, my husband, and I also dinned at the restaurant “Lord Bennett's” that bill came to $150.00 for 3 people including the tip. I don't mine the price I have a home in Napa Valley, but the food was not at all up to par. That wasn't bad enough, when I went to pay my bill, I complained to the girl at the desk about the herd of baby elephants tromping above our rooms from 4am on, and to my surprise she said nothing close to an apology, instead (now get this) she gave us a 10% DISCOUNT for the next time we stay there! HECK NO, I'm never staying there again, so the SMALL 10% “discount” card is in our garbage can and will never see the light of day again!

We stayed in one of the older buildings, ocean view. Be sure to carefully study the map and layout of this hotel before booking to avoid confusion and know what you are getting! This property has various buildings that are not connected. Many variety of rooms for all budgets. Some new, some old, some large, some smaller, some right on the beach and others require a staircase for access. Most rooms (not all) have a lovely view and location. We had an older room and prefer it that way--I personally think wood paneling and older tile is unique and quaint, plus it was very clean.

We just returned from a stay at Sunset Oceanfront Lodging and we couldn't be happier. First off, we stayed in the Vern Brown addition, which is ocean side, not ocean view. We were on the lowest level and were basically on the beach. We only had to go down one more flight of stairs and we were walking on the sand. Each room has a balcony and the views are amazing. Face rock to the south and many other features to the north. These rooms have been updated with wood-look vinyl floors and new tile in the shower and bathroom area. We liked the the sink and countertop area were opposite the bathroom and shower. The furnishing were pretty basic and the room could definitely use a few more pictures or paintings on the wall. But when you have the Pacific Ocean right outside your window, no one will really care. I would not recommend these rooms for anyone with disabilities, unless you stay on the top floor, which is level with the road. It's kind of confusing, but the rooms are on a steep hillside, so the upper floors are easiest to get to, the others require going up and down stairs, there is no elevator. We did not try the light breakfast, since it is in the main hotel, which is down the road. In conclusion, the Vern Brown rooms are great and we look forward to a return visit.

We booked from the pictures on the site, got there and found the view of a fence blocking the view.... I know that they could not help, but should have said something. Stay was good, and room was as indicated... The breakfast was good. The younger lady at the front desk was great, the older lady, somewhat grumpy..... Would recommend if in the area.
