As a first time experience with a bed and breakfast, Mangum White House Bed and Breakfast will be a tough act to follow. Will and An are the most gracious of hosts. Our room was spacious and clean, and the house and property are meticulously maintained. Will and An are so friendly and interesting to talk to; we thoroughly enjoyed...

We have always stayed in Elk City when visiting family for holidays and such. It's a bit of a drive to where Grandma lives, but that is the only option unless you want to pay the exorbitant prices of Quartz Mountain lodge. But now, we have a new and better place to stay. The Whitehouse B&B was fantastic. Will &...

What a wonderful experience! We have always stayed with family members while in the Mangum area, but all our family is gone now. When faced with the need to come to Greer County for a funeral, we didn't know where to stay--the Lodge at Lugert Lake was full and Duffer's is not even an option. I am so grateful that...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
General InformationThe concept of Bed & Breakfast’s in America dates back to the days of Benjamin Franklin when people opened their homes to the weary traveler. This Bed & Breakfast home was built in 1907 as a private residence by Mr. Adrian Gordon and wife Celestia, owner of the Reed, Oklahoma telephone company. In 1921 after the passing of his wife, Mr. Gordon moved with his two daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren to the “promise land” California, selling the White House to George and Dura Johnson.George Johnson, a wealthy druggist from Mangum owned the home from 1921 until 1962 when it went up to public auction to settle his estate. Another Johnson family owned it a short six years before selling to Gordon and Obera Thomason. The Thomason’s owned the White House from 1968 until purchase by Ben & Evette Whisenant in 1996. The Whisenants renovated the house and started a Bed & Breakfast in 1999.In 2007 the house was purchased by Will & An Sanders from the Netherlands (Europe) and they run the Bed & Breakfast now. They re-decorated the interior of the house with antique furniture and clocks out of Europe.Taken in its entirety with both the exterior and interior contributing to its uniqueness, the house is a very interesting example of Victorian architecture in pioneer Oklahoma, and has been preserved as a piece of Oklahoma’s history. ... more   less

“We chose the blue room for the exterior exit. My sister was in the Rose room, also lovely, but you'll want to be an early riser as the sun will get you. I completely forgot to take pictures.”

“The blue room has an exit to the parking area so there is no need to go through the house when coming and going. The attic room can accommodate a large family as well.”

“The Blue room is my favorite...but if you have a family the top floor is for you...It's spacious and beautiful for a family to stay together.”
