This was our last stop after a 3 week vacation. I read about it in TripAdvisor & it far exceeded my expectations. We are anxious to go back when the restaurant is open. We were there on a Monday & they are not open until Wed - Sunday. However, we were left a phenomenal breakfast in our room that was not like any other breakfast from a chain hotel. The room was gorgeous & the grounds beautiful! Cont wait to go back.
The Dominion House was breathtaking! This beautiful, quiet, & elegant mansion was much more than we anticipated. We were greeted & quickly shown to our room. The hotel upgraded us to the Presidential Suite which was huge, beautiful and a true luxury! The marble bathroom with antique claw foot tub, spacious shower & chandeliers was unbelievable. There was a separate powder room as well! We were encouraged to walk the grounds, so glad we did! I would have loved a tour of the hotel. I can see why this is a perfect wedding venue, every inch offered amazing photo opportunities. Breakfast was excellent, even offered extensive menu options instead of a standard breakfast! (We had homemade cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, omelets, bacon, potatoes & toast!) Our breakfast hostess was the daughter of the owners & could not have been more pleasant, she offered some history of the mansion/hotel & answered all of our questions. She was just a bright ray of sunshine! We were disappointed that their restaurant was not open for dinner on the night we were there, as we read many wonderful reviews of their food & service. We will be back for sure & will plan on a night during dinner service! Please if you are looking for a uxorious get away, with amazing photo opportunities, excellent food and service, make sure you add The Dominion House to your list of stays!…
I loved staying at the Dominion. I was disappointed the restaurant was only open for evening meals, but the room, the staff, and amenities, were wonderful. It is as if you are on the set of an upscale 1940's movie. The room was large, with a small retro refrigerator, couch and snacks. The bathroom had a large shower and a slipper tub. We stayed in one of the larger rooms on the first floor. The town has many antique stores and if you are interested in architecture, the buildings are most interesting. We ate the continental breakfast provided by the hotel, and had lunch at Katie's diner. The food there was nothing fancy, but it was good home-style cooked food and we would recommend it.
We loved everything about our stay here - the atmosphere and service were both amazing and the stay was an incredible value for the ambience and experience. Since we live relatively close we plan on coming back and staying again soon! The breakfast was wonderful and they give you a little menu to choose from, they were also very accommodating when I mentioned I follow a GF diet. The check-in clerk was wonderful to speak with and she gave us lots of information about the hotel and it's history even though they weren't running tours because of the pandemic. I highly, highly recommend staying here - you won't be disappointed!!!
