The website lack a lot of details, so I'll try to be thorough. I'll also add pictures that I would've loved to see on the website or even in other reviews. I packed a lot of things that I didn't need like chairs, cups, silverware, hair dryer, etc. In my opinion, 2 nights is plenty of time here. It's not much to do nearby. It would be nice if Candlewyck had weekday activities. Bring plenty of games to play if you have children. Be careful driving around, lots of deer. I think the King suites at the bottom have a queen size sofa bed & the suites at the top only have twin size sofa bed. PROS Lindsey and the maintenance staff was super nice and helpful. Close to dock Direct TV The suite was clean No issues renting water equipment. Be at the dock 20 minutes before your scheduled time. Must gas up before returning, so factor this time into your outing. Kayaks were free to use Lake view Cedar has a mini fridge, microwave, iron, mini ironing board, blow dryer, 2 TVs, coffee maker, cups, silverware Tissue, paper towel, and 2 trash bags were provided Bathroom has a jetted tub Sofa bed is Queen size Double sided fireplace Small closet to hang clothes so bring hangers Jacuzzi on the patio, grill, table with 2 chairs, 2 lounge chairs Small playground, pool, basketball court Every issue I encountered was handled right away and professionally. CONS The suite (outside and inside) was INFESTED with FLIES. We spent the first 2 hours killing them! Who want to do that after being on the road forever?! If the place was cleaned and inspected like they say, then this should've been taken care of. Bring 2 bottles of spray! Check your toilet... upon arrival, it wasn't working. There wasn't any Linen in the nightstand for the pull out sofa bed as stated. Just check this before the office close. Had to call to get this, which was a hassle because I had to walk down the street just to get service so I can make the call. There is construction going on, it's visible from the suite. Noisy, not the peaceful get away we were hoping for. This should've been disclosed at booking. I would have picked a room away from this. No sleeping in, construction ruined that. Definitely shouldn't be only 1 person in the office. I spent about 15-20 minutes waiting to check in. If you know check in is at 3pm, it make sense to have a check in person readily available. Cedar is located at the bottom, so there is stairs. It didn't mention this on the website, but it's definitely important to know. I couldn't get any cell phone service nor wifi in Cedar. The guest upstairs were hard walkers. The bathroom door is very loud when opening and closing. It was a pain at night when others had to use it. …
Upon arrival, there were some issues, both internally (dysfunctional hot tub) and external, that the property owners could do nothing about (major construction next door involving backhoes and loud work from sunrise to sunset). Upon request, I was moved to a different location, which was simply amazing. The second location did not have a lake view, but was quiet, peaceful and functional. I travelled during the week, early in the season, so there were not many guests, which added to the tranquility. The staff is helpful and committed to customer care. For first travel tot he area: navigation systems are not useful. The property is very remote and, upon check-in, the staff confirmed faulty directions and maps using GPS, Google Maps, etc. There are some signs, but small and infrequent, so go slow and watch for signs.…
As we got there late, the keys and paperwork were left in the mailbox. Signed the form and returned it to the office the next morning. Loved the setting, very peacefull and quiet. The room was very nice, well setup and bright, we even had a small balcony which we were not expecting as it was classified as a motel room. We will definitely be back!
Very nice resort. Right on the water. Very clean and our room had everything we needed. Maintenence man Brian was very nice and always said hello! Boat slip super convenient. Close to town but still feels very secluded and country feel.
We enjoyed our stay in one of the townhouse with the hot tub. It was clean and had a pool close by and the lake very close as well. Super easy walk down to the water. We could rent kayaks or boats on location. Also fire pit near the office with playground, volleyball, tetherball, and basketball. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
