Very nice resort. Right on the water. Very clean and our room had everything we needed. Maintenence man Brian was very nice and always said hello! Boat slip super convenient. Close to town but still feels very secluded and country feel.
We enjoyed our stay in one of the townhouse with the hot tub. It was clean and had a pool close by and the lake very close as well. Super easy walk down to the water. We could rent kayaks or boats on location. Also fire pit near the office with playground, volleyball, tetherball, and basketball. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
It was amazing. The staff was wonderful and answered all my questions. We wanted to use the hot tub and I wanted it sprayed down(city girl..I saw bugs) and they came right out and did it! Will be staying there again!
We have been coming to Candlewyck for several years and fireworks - with safety precautions - have always been allowed. Fireworks are now banned. It's not posted on their website. We weren't notified when we checked in. The first night we were there, the people in the next cabin blew off fireworks until 10pm. We went to the office to buy ice and bragged about how many fireworks we were going to buy and how it was going to be a big show. No one told us we couldn't have fireworks... until we were 30 minutes into setting them off. Then the manager, Tracy, came down and CUSSED US OUT!!! She was dropping F-bombs, screaming, yelling and did not care that they were small children there. I've been in management for 10+ years and I would be FIRED ON THE SPOT if I ever behaved like that. Tracy was accompanied by a homeless-looking guy wearing a Candlewyck T-shirt. His language was just as bad as hers. After the major drama, we were packing up and Tracy and her guy were walking away - the guy turns around and starts a new barrage of cussing. He was actively trying to provoke my husband into a fist fight. That's the major drama. Now, let's talk about all the other ways Tracy is failing as a manager. They graciously let us have 2 rolls of toilet paper for a 4 bathroom house. We had to buy our own toilet paper, trash sacks, paper towels, kitchen cleaner and laundry supplies - even though they were supposed to be included in the house price. I took a bath on the first night. There was body wash and hair conditioner but no shampoo. Turns out the body wash and hair conditioner bottles were EMPTY - trash left over from the previous guest. We asked several times to have the outdoor trash bin emptied because it was full. They wouldn't empty it because their dumpster was already overflowing. Tracy was pretty peeved that I even asked but at the time I thought probably everyone's calling and the garbage truck is late or something. This was all before the fireworks and I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Do they serve breakfast or not? I called the morning we left for the resort and was told that they serve breakfast M-F but not on the weekends. When we arrived, there was a placard on the door that said they serve breakfast 8-10 am on the weekends. Turns out they do brunch but only on the weekends. Clear, concise, professional communication is not that difficult. Take a class. I could get into how they're letting the resort physically go down hill - doors and walls that need to be re-painted, patio that needs to be power washed, deck that needs to be re-decked, trash-laden brusuh piles, etc., etc. If you knew what this place used to be, you would be SHOCKED by how far the standards have fallen. The staff is fantastic - or is only the current management that is a problem. Not going back until they get competent management. UPDATE - The property owner called my husband and they spoke at length. My husband was assured that all issues were being remediated.…
There were about 30 of us, staying within 5 different cabins/house/condos. Every one of these places exceeded our expectations. But what made it worth booking our next stay is the hospitality of the staff! They all waved and smiled at us as they drove by on their carts, despite having a multitude of tasks to attend to. It felt like they ‘cared’ for us and wanted to meet all our needs...and it showed. Highly recommend !
