We used to LOVE the St. Paul. Ten years ago, it was cool, new, trendy, and the place to stay in Wooster. Now, it is a very dilapidated, worn down, shabby old building. We were so excited to stay here for a long weekend but ended up checking out after one night and moving to a Hilton property. From the filthy and stained carpets to the scuffed walls, torn furniture, mold in the shower, broken tile, non-functioning heated floors, HEAVILY scented room air (to which I had a severe allergic reaction), and broken TV, the $180 we paid was almost criminal. And, there is NO housekeeping. Not 'optional' or 'by request' housekeeping, NO housekeeping. If you would like clean linens, you must strip your own bed and bag your towels and put them all outside the door. Same for trash. Which means the teeny tiny hallways are full of bags of garbage and dirty linens at times. The young woman who checked us in was phenomenal. It is really too bad there has been ZERO maintenance since this property opened. Even the stainless steel fixtures and shower surround had rust and grime on them. And, we had forgotten there are 2 outlets in the entire room not already being used - making it very difficult to charge devices while using any other item needing electricity. The very large coffee maker/tea tray on the desk takes up the entire desktop and is plugged NOT into a wall outlet, but into a multi outlet adapter that is behind the smelly little refrigerator in the wall unit. I had to remove the refrigerator, pull out the adapter, unplug the coffee maker and thread the cord back through a cut out hole in the wall unit so I could 'clear' a space to use the desktop. Completely filthy, gross, and dangerous. The mattress was very saggy with zero structure. Likely the original (making it over 10 years old). We love the location, the concept, and the people, but this property is run down, dirty, small, smelly, and beat up.…
This is a gorgeous hotel in a renovated historic building. Everything about our stay was first class. I especially appreciated how careful they were with covid protocols. The City Square restaurant catty corner from the hotel had a delicious steak dinner that we got as carry out, and the hotel provided us with steak knives. It’s a little pricey, but worth it.
We came for a night for our 10th anniversary, and it was a relaxing break. It was great being able to walk to the wine bar next door and to multiple restaurants in downtown Wooster, as well as interesting looking shops. We really enjoyed the contemporary but comfortable style of the room, as well as the little boutique extras like welcome snacks and cookies in the room. The shower had great water pressure and multiple options. We also felt really spoiled by the breakfast delivered to our door, exactly on time. Would definitely consider returning for another getaway!
One of the best hotel experiences I remember. Breakfast was great - they brought a lot of food, juices, tea and coffee straight to our room. The heated bathroom floor is amazing. They have a kitchen for the guests so you can microwave your food, toast bread, grab dishes and silverware, etc. All the staff are really kind. I really loved how my partner and I wanted to have wine with our food in their living room and they provided wine glasses and a corkscrew. They were also kind enough to let us stay in the living room a few hours after our checkout time, eat, and use their dishes.
At first impression the exterior of the building is beautiful and charming. The staff at the front desk provided and exceptional level of customer service, friendly, complimentary and very helpful with suggestion on what to do in our short stay. Entering the room I was amazed at the beautifully and well done preservation. The rustic, exposed brick blended with the contemporary updates made for the perfect finishing. The amenities of this room were also impressive! Robes, slippers, heated tile floors and welcoming sugar cookies to name a few. Fast forward to the next morning out room service tray (complementary) waiting for us promptly at our desired time. The presentation of this tray is one you’d have to see and experience to really understand how special it is. Needless to say, this place truly knows what it takes and nothing falls short of perfection here !!…
The St Paul is comfy, clean and peaceful right in the middle of town near everything. Rainforest shower, separate sitting area, several TVs. Easy checkin/ out. Favorite place to stay! Attention to details awesome.
My family of six stayed in two of the rooms at this beautiful boutique hotel for three nights. Visiting from Los Angeles, we were greeted by Doreen, sweet and kind and full of Wooster information, she let us in from the snow and made us all feel warm and welcome! The double queen deluxe was roomy and immaculate, and the grand suite queen was absolute perfection - roomy, charming and luxurious. Every member of the staff we met was extremely friendly, the hotel itself always looked like the cover of a magazine despite the snowy shoes going in and out and all of the amenities and accommodations were top-notch. I cannot say enough about this wonderful hotel. It is truly a gem and we will definitely be back!
We went to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. What an outstanding hotel. Beautiful. Stunning amenities. Worth the price!!! The shower was to die for. Loved the heated floors in bathroom. The trick tv in the bathroom mirror...wow!!! Nice extra large TV in the bedroom. Comfy beds. Paid extra for the rose and choc covered strawberries. Free pop and water and continental breakfast in room in the morning. Staff extremely nice and friendly. Cannot wait to return!! Nicest hotel we have ever been to. Highly recommend. Also go to City Square Steakhouse and Matso pizza!! Both yummy!
Had a wonderful, spacious room. Easy check in and check out. Clean, quiet and near Steakhouse we were dining at. Quaint town, lots of little shops! Must stay while in Wooster. Light breakfast brought to your door you select the next am when you check in.
I called this boutique hotel the day of our stay, we hadn’t booked anything yet-Paula was very helpful and recommended I book directly with them for a 20% discount- nice! They are taking every precaution during this pandemic time, filled out the form for our continental breakfast to be delivered outside our door for the next morning, we’re offered bottled drinks upon arrival as well- other hotels like to charge for a bottle of water- they gave them out freely, as well as bagged snacks at the front desk. The room was perfect- many little labels and printed tips. From additional towels and trash pickup, they thought of everything during a difficult time for the hospitality industry. Breakfast delivered in a tray along with our nights invoice slipped under the door. Wooster is a nice little town, great restaurant options, although many shops/restaurants are closed on Sunday. I highly recommend this hotel if you are passing thru the area.…
