My wife and I stayed here Labor Day weekend. We booked the room back in May which is late booking for that time of year in Port Clinton/Put-In-Bay. The room was very reasonably priced for the area. On the plus side the location is just about as good as it gets in Port Clinton. There is a large deck area which overlooking the lake which is easily accessible from the rooms. It was a great place to sit with a coffee in the morning and listen to the waves and watch the gulls. That and the price is about all I can recommend for this place. As a several other reviews have mentioned, there was a wedding going on when we arrived Friday evening. This is apparently a pretty common occurrence there. As a result parking was a challenge, but the staff were helpful with getting us unloaded and parked. Check in was quick and efficient. The room however, was disappointing. First thing I noticed upon entrance was a fairly strong musty/mildewy odor. It's your basic "old motel" odor. The floors are hard tile. Overall, the room was clean and the furniture was adequate, but it suffered from the smell and just the general age of the place. Then we noticed the bed. Our reservation email clearly stated a queen bed. This was not a queen bed. It was a double, and a very uncomfortable one at that. Since the motel was booked out due to the wedding I knew there was no chance of moving to another room so we made the best of it. We spent two nights here. The first night was very difficult sleeping. The second was better, but only because I was exhausted from lack of sleep the night before and from spending the day over at Put-In-Bay. When we checked out, I mentioned the bed to the clerk. There was not even an "I'm sorry", or any acknowledgement at all. It's really too bad about the bed, it was the only real problem with an otherwise very good weekend. I eventually got used to the smell - I actually think it had something to to with the A/C unit because it seemed to get better if I turned it off for a while. One other thing: other reviewers have mentioned the lack of lights outside the rooms. I agree, this is a problem. I can't speak for all of them, but ours certainly did not work. The location is great, but it is offset by the other problems. Not sure if I will risk staying here again or not.

My family and I were guests at Beachfront Resort on August 18th. We liked the beach and the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice. There were several problems at the Resort. We had to ask for a towel, there were 4 of us, but only 3 towels in the room. We also had a rollaway bed but had to ask for sheets and a pillow. When asked, the desk clerk said, "I'll see what I can do". The attitude was not what I find acceptable for a costumer's request for necessities. Also, on Hotels.com it advertised "Free Breakfast", which there was not. You may want to have them correct this error. My parents were a bit upset about this. They intended to save a little money. My main concerns were no lights on or around the building at night and no hot water for the shower. My elderly parents could not get to the room when they returned to the Resort in the dark. They actually had more than one person run into them. My mother almost fell more than once. We had to assist other guests to their rooms, also. They couldn't see the numbers on the doors or see to insert the key in the lock. Someone could be seriously injured. There are lights outside every room but apparently they do not work. Guests should be warned. When my mother attempted to take a shower the next morning, there wasn't any hot or even warm water. I was the only one who was willing to take the coldest shower of my life. The lake would have been better. We tried several different things to get hot water but nothing worked. My dad finally got hot water in the sink but never the shower. I am glad of the fact not my parents nor anyone else were injured. I am very disappointed in the costumer service and the issues with the Beachfront Resort. This review was emailed to the manager with no response. They don't seem to have respect for the customers.

I had booked multiple rooms and had many issues regarding my reservations. Nothing could be kept straight, things were booked to the wrong credit card, and the people at the front desk had absolutely no idea what they were doing or any suggestions to fix the problem. The views are great, but honestly, I probably would not recommend this place if you're looking for anything beyond a pretty view. Rooms and housekeeping need some serious work.

Apart from the views of this place and the convenience of being right next to the wedding venue of Dock's Beach House, this place is not the greatest. Appearance-wise, it's pretty much like a Super 8 or Motel 6. The rooms are bare bones and could use updating. I also didn't think it was super clean. I understand we are on the lake, but cleaning some of the dead bugs out of the room would have been nice. The bed sheets felt rough and scratchy. They also used comforters on the bed which is pretty much unheard of these days since they aren't easily washed from the previous guests. My room was very poorly lit. The only way to get any light in the room was to open the shade which is not preferred when you are the very first room on the ground floor. There was also no iron. For a hotel directly next to a wedding venue, every room should have an iron. Thankfully, one of us brought a portable steamer with us. We also had huge reservation issues with the front desk. The entire hotel was rented out for the wedding weekend but somehow they double booked some rooms to outside guests which left us scrambling last minute to bunk wedding guests together. The staff could have been friendlier, more accommodating, and more professionally dressed (employees wore sweat pants and tee shirts). If you are attending a wedding at Docks, staying here is so convenient but I wish the Beachfront Resort would put some pride in their hotel and make it a place you want to stay because it's fantastic, not just because it's convenient.
