Travelers' Choice
At The Safe House Bed and Breakfast, we have combined the character of a beautiful historic home with all the comfort of modern amenities. Additionally, we strive to provide our guests with a great deal of peacefulness and privacy. Our house is set up in a way that the two guest rooms are completely separate from our family's living quarters. As a result, foot traffic and noise outside the guests' rooms is minimal. If you're looking to get away from people and just relax somewhere comfy and quiet, we can accommodate you. Perhaps you're looking for a romantic get away with your better half. Look no further. Or maybe you're just traveling through and are looking for a nice place with friendly hosts that will trade travel stories with you. Well, that happens to be our specialty. Either way, we'll figure out what you need and make your stay a pleasant one.

Made reservation and had to cancel due to illness. Attempted to cancel via text as recommended by owner 7 days prior to reservation date. Never heard back. So I called. Got voice mail and left message. Still no response. Then e- mailed mostly to not leave owner high and dry. Still nothing. Tried text again. Nothing. Finally got a message indicating they got my text. That was it. Responded asking if a partial refund was due. Nothing back. Tried again asking for a response so I could reconcile my July Pay Pal account. No response. Left me wondering if this is a true business. ??????

Cant recommend though we didnt stay - unfortunately. Had to cancel within 48 hours of our stay for our 35th anniversary as my wife, who is fully vaxxed and boosted came down with COVID. No compassion nor credit was offered by owner in this age of the pandemic. I get it - policy is policy - but some recourse or even partial credit toward another stay after I made multiple requests for it? Also - there were no words of empathy or well wishes for my wife - none... shocking. What a shame.

My friends and I stayed at the Safe House over the weekend not long ago. Jake and his wife were very welcoming and friendly. My friend and I have specific dietary requirements, and he let us know that he wanted to make sure he cooked breakfast according to our needs. He went out of his way to make sure he could do that. The house was lovely and in a beautiful location, with many trails that we could walk. The beds were comfortable and the house felt very homey and welcoming!

The Safe House is a historic house located in a rural setting, but still close to the downtown. I stayed here to break up two long days of driving so I really enjoyed having the wooded trails to explore on the property. Jake was a great host. The breakfast was delicious as was the local coffee. I appreciated the range of time offered to have breakfast, so that I could get back on the road early. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. I would definitely stay here again.

This is the ONLY place to stay if you are in Mansfield! The history and beauty of the property is fantastic. We woke up to a spring snow falling. The view out into the yard and woods while drinking our morning coffee was very peaceful. Jake makes a wonderful breakfast, and we sat around the dining table and heard stories of the place and area. Now that we know about it, we will venture back to the Safe House BnB often.

I happened upon The Safe House Bed and Breakfast while looking on the internet for places to stay overnight for my husband and I during our trip to the Ohio State Reformatory for the Shawshank Redemption Tour. We couldn’t have been happier to have booked our night here. Jake was so accommodating and full of information. The home is outstanding and a sight to see, down to the last little detail. Our room, the Alexander was very comfortable and most importantly very clean. Jake even offered us a 4 hr window to pick from for him to make us breakfast and what a delicious breakfast it was. We had breakfast in the dining room with the couple that were staying in the other room and all enjoyed talking with each other and with Jake while he prepared our amazing breakfast. We don’t have one complaint or disappointment about our stay and are very happy to have stayed at The Safe House. We would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a place to stay.

Historic home filled with character and an excellent host in Jake. It's a lovely property with lots of trees providing shade and privacy. The kitchen and dining area are cozy and cool, providing a great atmosphere for Jake to cook breakfast while visiting with you. He made a delicious breakfast, was attentive to any needs we might have, and was very personable. We really enjoyed chatting with him.

I planned a 50th Birthday getaway for my hubby all by myself. I researched so many BNB places and I am so happy I chose The Safe House. Jake was very accommodating. It was just after a winter storm. He had a nice path shoveled to the door. He carried our luggage in. When we entered it was absolutely beautiful. The beauty and cleanliness of the place was breathtaking. I purchased the wine and Shawshank add ons. The wine was set up in our room on a tray with wine glasses. Jake popped some popcorn and we had 2 old fashioned glass bottle cokes while we watched the Shawshank Redemption in the family room. It was a perfect atmosphere. In the morning he made this picture perfect breakfast and French press coffee. We shared stories and had an Amazing experience at the safe house. If I could give it 10 stars I definitely would. Thank you to Jake and his family for sharing your Safe House. ❤

We stayed two nights at The Safe House and before the first night was even over, we were already planning our next visit - it's just that great here! The Safe House makes a great jumping-off point for area attractions and activities. Jake is highly service-oriented and guest-focused as a host. You're going to love the grounds, the rooms, and the breakfast.
