Landoll's Mohican Castle provides a boutique hotel experience in central Ohio. The Castle contains uniquely designed suites with fine furnishings that fit the style of an old world castle. In addition, there are four adjoining suites in a separate building called the Highland Suites. Finally, there are two free-standing cottages. The Highlands and cottages have been built to fit the theme of the large suite rooms that are featured in the Castle. New in 2018! The Stables at The Castle features new suites! The Castle Event Center is the largest of its kind in the Mohican-Loudonville area, seating up to 200 people in banquet-style seating. The Event Center and The Copper Mug Bar & Grille restaurant recently hosted a filming by a Gordon Ramsay television show. The result of this experience was a complete redesign of the menu for the restaurant and wedding events.

I booked this trip as a surprise to my husband for our 12th year anniversary. Do not waste your time or even consider staying here. We were supposed to stay in a cabin that was supposed to be secluded and we arrived and the cabin was right next to wedding reception. Room was dirty and the hot tub, which was a smaller than a claw foot tub, was dirty and disgusting. The cover was ripped and water was dark brown with huge bugs in it. I was very disappointed. My husband went to the manager on duty and showed her pictures of hot tub. She said it was brown because it was well water and they clean hot tubs daily. She never apologized or anything. By reading previous reviews, this isn’t the first time this has happened. So we got a refund, went to Columbus and went to casino. Save yourself the time and book at Hocking Hills where things are clean and not infected with who knows what. Will never ever recommend this place!

Castle and grounds look very weathered, might have been a place to be "wowed" by but definitely not anymore. Everywhere you look needs maintenance. Thought about a future overnight stay for a little getaway but no longer on our bucket list. Very underwhelmed and very disappointed.

Given the price of the room, I would’ve expected way, way more. We stayed in the Thanes cottage and it was run down and not clean. The refrigerator had stains which was really gross The hot tub was barely functional and had not been maintained. The tub had mold stains. There were bugs on the ceiling. The property itself is cool and unique. However the room certainly did not meet expectations. The location too is very strange and almost scary - really in the middle of nowhere.

We were looking for a weekend getaway and saw on romantic getaways in Ohio the Mohican Castle. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed two. The reason, sleep. The bed was so hard and the springs in it so noticeable that the first night we slept on the blanket and covered up with the robes. The next morning, we told the receptionist we would need two comforter blankets to put on the bed in order to make it at least somewhat comfortable. Even with the blankets, we still had no rest the following night. When we checked out early due to lack of sleep, she was surprised that the blankets didn’t help (which should have been her problem not mine if you want your guests to be comfortable.). Rooms were not maintained daily or furnished with clean towels or cups. So my question is, where is the luxury? Unique, yes. Luxury, no.

I have stayed here twice in less than a month. Both times I stayed at the Macbeth cottage. I absolutely LOVE it. This place is so peaceful and calming. Make sure you stop at The Copper Mug to eat! There is a small hiking path too, and for birders like me, it's a great spot to find birds to photograph!
