My wife, parents and nephew enjoyed four nights in the Hillcrest lodge in mid-October 2020. This was our fifth stay at the Hillcrest and our fourteenth stay with Cabins by the Caves in the past nine years. Recent additions to the outdoor amenities at the Hillcrest include a masonry fireplace, a masonry built-in charcoal grill, and festive outdoor lighting, all nice features! We were grateful for the Coca-Cola cornhole set, as we didn't have enough space to bring our own. This is a nice and isolated property at the end of a dead end road. If you're lucky enough to be there during or near peak autumn colors, there is plenty of color to enjoy. The furniture is comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, and the beds are good. Everything functioned as it should, we had no issues during our stay (and never have). The housekeeper had the place immaculate for our arrival, as usual. We'll be back!…
Stayed in the cabin known as Outside Inn. The cabin itself was amazing!! Most favorite thing?? Dog friendly!! Things we loved: the views, nature, fire pit, balcony/deck, indoor fireplace with the giant moose, and rocking chairs on deck. The foosball table was a fun touch and there were a ton of board games available for use. Staff was super friendly when I called and asked a question. This place really should have been a five star facility, but fell short. Was not as clean as it should be - which is SO important, especially during this pandemic. Staff clearly missed items like the microwave - which was very dirty, outside of fridge was not cleaned very well, and under the coffee table hadn’t been swept in years. Not sure if the bed comforters and “shams” are washed after every stay either. As a guest, you have to remove the sheets and put them in washer at end of stay. Be sure to bring your own shampoo/conditioner - nothing at the cabin. There is hand soap in the kitchen and baths. Outdoor hot tub had many jets broken - barely worked, and water did not stay warm while you were in it. Water was “foggy”. Started at 102 degrees and slipped down to 97 degrees. Did not heat back up until cover was put on it and time passed...The key system is not so great either. There is a lockbox with a code to the right of the door. Pull key out and use in door that also has a key pad that does not work. The key somewhat just spins around until you figure out how it catches and unlocks. Probably needs to be addressed. This particular cabin is dog friendly - which is amazing!!! Three separate sleeping areas. The “master” bedroom has a king bed and private bath with shower only, two sinks. Washer and dryer are in this bathroom as well. Down in the lower level is another bedroom with a queen bed and this shares a bathroom with the room with the bunk beds essentially. There is a bathtub in this bathroom, one sink. The lower level is a walkout and has a great TV/sitting area. Note, there is no hiking on site, but Clear Creek Metro Park is really close and the main tourist areas of Hocking Hills are only about 20 minutes by car.…
My husband and I stayed in The Jackson cabin in mid October. The cabin is surrounded by woods which were absolutely beautiful with their fall colors. The caves and cliffs are within a 15 minute drive and the drive is so fun on the windy roads. We loved that the cabin was the last cabin at the top of the hill, set back into the woods, and away from the world. That's what we were looking for. It rained the first night and we enjoyed the night setting by the fireplace. Loved the hot tub. Loved the outdoor fire pit. Loved the old rocking chairs on the porch. Loved how clean the cabin was upon arrival. Loved how perfect everything was set up to enjoy a week of relaxation and togetherness. We had so much fun that we are planning the same trip to the cabins next year.
We stayed at Basswood Grove this past weekend. The cabin was impeccably clean, which was of upmost importance given the pandemic. The cabin was spacious enough for 2 people, however the living area would have been crammed with 4. Other than the fact that the cabin is completely secluded and has no cell reception for 5+ miles (if you want to go “off grid”, this is the place for you), my main complaint is the mattress. It was so incredibly uncomfortable that it was hard to sleep. I’m not sure if it was from overuse or poor quality, but it sunk in the middle and made loud noises every time you moved. Finally, the 10+ signs all over the cabin (inside and out) warning you how much you’ll be fined if you do one thing wrong didn’t make for a very relaxing environment. I was on edge making sure we followed every rule in order to not get a $400+ fine after spending $300+ per night. …
Stayed at the Sedona cabin earlier in the year with my Girlfriend, we loved it so much that we came back just a couple months later with 2 more friends, because we did not expect the cabin to be so spacious when just the two of us went! The property is beautiful, has a mini trail through the trees, large balcony and a perfect fire pit off behind the grill. Inside is in tip-top shape in terms of the cleanliness and the quality, would highly recommend this cabin to any one looking to have a good weekend away either romantically or with friends.
