If you are looking for a quiet, quaint and cozy place in a beautiful setting, this is the place to stay! This was our first visit to The Eagles Nest and we really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful and a short ride or walk to the downtown area. The room was clean and cozy with a kitchenette that had what we needed. The best part was a nice porch off the room where we could unwind in a peaceful and pretty setting. Mark and Robin Volz, the owners are very nice and accommodating and were very kind and helpful to us during an unusual circumstance: A Nor'easter came in that shut down the ferry to/from the island which kept us from leaving the island. Robin had kept us informed of the situation and availability and options to leave the island. As it turned out, we ended up flying off as it was the only means off for a few days. Mark was kind to drive us to the airport to catch the flight. Robin and Mark are truly nice people and went above and beyond to help us out. Not everyone does that. We were very happy with our stay and plan on returning on our next trip to Kelleys Island. …
Mark and Robin were just wonderful. It’s a great place to stay. Their dogs made us feel right at home! The deer can and joined me for coffee on the porch this morning. We will definitely be back! Thank you!
We first stayed at the Eagle's Nest on our honeymoon 4 years ago. We just enjoyed our 4th stay there with friends along too. Stayed 5 nights. Beautiful and well kept inside and out. Robin and Mark are very friendly, informative, and knowledgeable. A pleasure to talk with! Quiet & secluded. Easy walking distance to town. We enjoy walking, biking, using the pool, sitting on deck & patio, watching the deer. We will certainly be back! It's affordable, neat & clean, comfortable.
Awesome four day getaway on an island in Lake Erie. Take your bikes or rent. Easy bike Friedly golf cart type of island. Eagles Nest is Tucked away and quiet. Our hosts Mark and Robin were very accommodating low-key and chill. We had a very nice apartment with a tree top deck in view of the woods. We will return over and over. Buy your groceries and necessities on the mainland as grocery supplies are limited there but for daily dining restaurants abound. Our favorite was the Kelly's island winery. Excellent food! Clearly the owners of this place have traveled the world gathered some interesting Culinary ideas and brought them back to share with their guests We visited during the height of the spring bird migration and we were not disappointed. 70 species including 12 Warblers. Deer Eagles and an assortment of interesting flora and fauna made our daily hikes exciting. Several groups host nature hikes there. Tthere were bird banding exhibits, local museums both fine arts statuary as well as historical. Geology is a major feature of the island as is fishing. Limestone Quarries and glacial evidence top the bill This was a great off-season visit to a little island in a great lake with much to see and do No need to dress, no need to shave, this is "put on a hat" take a hike, go to dinner kind of place.…
We won a gift certificate to the Eagles Nest at a silent auction. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The Inn is on a beautiful piece of property in a quiet part of Kelly's Island. Our room was clean, and comfortable with a porch off the back. There is also a swimming pool that you can utilize. We would certainly return.
Staff were on hand the entire stay and were great to sit and talk to. Rooms were very clean and tidy, updated and pleasant. Area is quiet in a rural type setting. Great place to relax. Television and internet were not of any value to us for our stay, and we enjoyed the simplicity of the time we were there. We will stay there again, no doubt!
Beautiful and quaint place to stay with close proximity to the action but secluded enough to feel very peaceful. The grounds are wonderfully kept, the breakfast was fantastic, and overall, this is a great place to start when venturing throughout the island on bikes! Would recommend staying here!
The Eagle's Nest brings to mind a line from the theme song from the TV Sitcom "Cheers." "Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came." My wife and I have stayed at the Eagle's Nest three of the last four years (we couldn't get in the one year) and it is like going to visit friends or relatives. The owners, Robin and Mark Volz, treat us like family. Mornings at the breakfast table is like a reunion. They're both great story tellers and we feel so comfortable in their presence. I can't tell you how much we look forward to the following summer to go and relax for a few days on the island and just do nothing. Book early so as not to get shut out. You'll be glad you did.
We just love staying at this beautiful quiet place so we had made it a yearly stop. Our room is always fresh & clean, Robin & Mark work very hard to make you stay unforgettable by starting the day with a full breakfast that leaves you very satisfied. We have stayed in all rooms & everything is always meticulous. If you are looking for a place that is quiet & away from the hustle and bustle of the island, then this is your place to stay! You will not be disappointed!
Meticulously gardened grounds set the stage. We enjoyed the upper room which featured a deck amongst pines. Eagle's Nest provided a large pool, additional group deck with chairs, fire pit, and a sunny covered porch for being served a homemade breakfast. Positive reviews helped steer us to staying here - now we are adding our own. Only downside was Wi-Fi was nearly unusable during our stay.
