Felt like a 5 star guest from the moment we entered the door! Nancy and her husband go above and beyond to make sure your time there is comfortable and you are encouraged to feel at home. Breakfast was phenomenal - truly lovely!! I want to go back just to stay here again. I can't imagine staying anywhere better!

We live locally and my mother in law was coming to visit us for 3 weeks- we have a small house and four small children and searched high and low for a place close to us for her to stay...thank God we found Captain Montagues! Our stay at Captain Montagues was superb. Nancy was a wonderful hostess. She gave us a tour of the home and told us the fascinating history of the home's original owners: Captain Montague and his wife Sarah. Breakfast was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with our fellow house guests. We will be back!

If you are planning on staying in NW Lake Erie area this is a must stay. Nancy and her husband were awesome and very accommodating. Location was excellent. They provide transportation to a high quality restaurant nearby should you require it. Lodging is beautiful and breakfast was excellent.

Nancy was a gracious and kind hostess. Excellent telephone communication. She even set us up with some special reservations at a French restaurant for the holiday. Comfortable bed, comfortable setting. Several rooms to choose from: 3 on the 2nd floor and one on the first floor- plus there's a special suite upstairs too. Nice small town feel. Not far to... Just left Captain Montegue's. It's hard to put into words how much we enjoyed our stay. Nancy made us feel not only at home but like family. The decor sparkled with authenticity and it was obvious that great care has been taken in decorating and furnishing this home. The walking tour around Captain Montague's neighborhood was a delight. The bed... More

I stayed at the B&B the night before my wedding and the plan was to get ready there the day of my wedding, The place is absolutely stunning so I wanted this to be where I got ready for my wedding because my bridal photos would be so beautiful here. The owner mentioned I could use a room downstairs off... More

Unfortunately, this was a case of miscommunication and while we hate to air this disagreement in this forum, this review is not entirely accurate. At Captain Montague's Bed & Breakfast we pride ourselves on the service we provide and the relationship building we do with all of our guests as our reviews consistently show. This particular guest's original reservation was... More

Since we arrived early,we went to the Huron lighthouse area. After exploring Huron for a little while, we then headed to the B&B. It was the July 4th weekend and also Nancy, the owner's birthday. She had her family visiting & celebrating the festivities at the B&B. All the rooms were also filled with guests. The family welcomed us to... More

We stayed at Captain Montagues last weekend along with two other couples. We have been there many times and each time it has been exceptional. Each and every room is quaint and clean and has its own character. Judy, the innkeeper is such a wonderful hostess. She keeps the inn in mint condition, prepares a fabulous breakfast and is always... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Captain Montague's...old world charm meets modern day luxury. Built in an era of romanticized Great Lakes history, this was once home to Captain C.Z. Montague and his family. Boasting seven fireplaces, original burled wood pocket doors throughout the common areas, and a stunning hand-crafted black walnut staircase, the Victorian flavor of this home was enhanced by the craftsmanship of local shipbuilders. Extensive, careful interior updating has resulted in a comfortable and modern home that you will beckon you to relaxation. Each of our rooms are quite private and very quiet and all come with their own private baths. Captain Montague's spans an entire block in the historic, lakefront community of Old Plat in Huron, Ohio. It is located just two short blocks from Lake Erie in the Old Plat portion of the original village that remains. ... more   less
