Captain Montague's...old world charm meets modern day luxury. Built in an era of romanticized Great Lakes history, this was once home to Captain C.Z. Montague and his family. Boasting seven fireplaces, original burled wood pocket doors throughout the common areas, and a stunning hand-crafted black walnut staircase, the Victorian flavor of this home was enhanced by the craftsmanship of local shipbuilders. Extensive, careful interior updating has resulted in a comfortable and modern home that you will beckon you to relaxation. Each of our rooms are quite private and very quiet and all come with their own private baths. Captain Montague's spans an entire block in the historic, lakefront community of Old Plat in Huron, Ohio. It is located just two short blocks from Lake Erie in the Old Plat portion of the original village that remains.

Great place to stay in the summer. Within walking distance of several eateries and bars. Huron boat basin has concerts all summer on the weekend as well as the river festival in mid july. The boat basin is also within walking distance.

Wonderful hostess, great food, lovely view out the breakfast nook, and a very refreshing peaceful break from the city. The beach and lighthouse are a nice walk away. Great neighborhood for walking also.

This is a amazing B&B. Large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There are several sitting rooms and a large dining area all decorated for fall. It was a bit too cold to use the beautiful pool and gazebo area but it’s a lovely setting. Just a short walk to several restaurants and bars on the water front. The owners are extremely accommodating and friendly and the breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at B&B. This will be our go to place whenever we head to Lake Erie!

This bed and breakfast is a really nice place. A beautiful late 1800"s home that is so clean it makes you wish they would come to your house to do the same! It really is lovely. They decorate for the seasons and are expert at making you feel comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious. A very nice place to stay.

We were a group of 5 ladies -- and we rented the entire house for 2 nights during the week in September. The house is impressive in size. It's a very sturdy, well-built home with wood cabinets and wood floors. Antiques fill the parlors and some of the furniture is true to the period of the house. We felt right at home with owner Nancy who ensured that we had a perfect 2-day stay. She cooked our breakfast and catered to our every need. The bedrooms are beautiful and well appointed; and each has its own bathroom. Our rooms were all on the second floor; but one room is located on the first floor should steps be an issue. We enjoyed dinner at the nearby Huron Yacht Club our first night. The next day, we caught the Miller Ferry at Catawba for the trip to Put in Bay. Early September, after Labor Day, is the perfect time of the year to enjoy this island. We rented a 6-seater golf cart and visited Perry's Monument, the only peace memorial within the National Park Service; then went to the Boardwalk and enjoyed lunch outside at the Upper Deck. On the second night, we drove the short distance to Vermilion and had a very special dinner at the top-rated restaurant, Chez Francois.
