Lovely old building, 10-15 minutes walk from town. Comfortable ensuite rooms but not sure why they are described as "suites"! We found it a bit cold in May other than the one lounge where they have a fire going at night which only seats 6. Room heating system rather antiquated and noisy. Wi-fi only in lobby area, not in rooms...

Our first impressions of this manor when coming up the driveway were good. A beautiful building and gardens with the satisfying crunch of gravel under foot. The building still has its original character and our room was clean, warm, and comfortable. We were welcomed with a guided tour and offered some dining recommendations in town by our host. It really...

Wow this place really is something special. An old antique feel wonderfully presented and very comfortable and cosy. We were greeted by Sheila who stayed back late to check us in after we arrived from a long day of driving. Sheila helped make our stay very enjoyable and was a great character too. We loved this quaint little town of...

My husband and I really enjoyed our two night stay here. Very cosy sitting in front of the log fire in one of the lounge areas, chatting to other guests. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the other lounge looking out over the garden. There is an honesty bar, or you can just bring your own drinks down and...

My partner and I stayed here on a weekend getaway. The homestead set amongst a beautifully kept rhododendron garden is cozy and inviting. When we entered we were met by the manager (and mini manager) who showed us through a wood heated sitting room, honesty bar and our spa suite room which was neat and cozy. Breakfast was provided between...

We stayed for one night at Franklin with another couple during our two week Tasmanian Tour. The upstairs room was very comfortable, with a great bed and large living area. The room amenities were great, including the bathroom. It was lovely to see this heritage former private residence so well preserved and with a new life as comfortable accommodation. Breakfast...

This elegant former private house is surrounded by lovely gardens and is now a comfortable and slightly idiosyncratic small hotel. Welcome was warm and helpful (discount on Gordon River Cruise). Our room was clean and a good size. Breakfast was buffet style and well stocked. The weather was unusually cool and wet during our stay so the convenient location within...

My wife and I stayed here for a night with two other couples. Being on motorbikes we were wet and cold on arrival. The wonderful Sheila lit the fire and made us feel right at home, with her warmth and hospitality. The rooms were great, and the whole building was immaculate, and the continental breakfast was tops. This place is...

The Franklin Manor hotel is a lovely old building which likely once was a private home. We came in late and there was a note on the door but the reception was still working. We were glad that our room was on the ground floor as we had lots of baggage. The room had a slightly old appearance and when...
