What a wonderful place to stay. Comfortable bed and lovely view of the Nut through the gorgeous little kitchen. Everything you needed was there. Lovely little touches, homely and inviting. Loved Stanley and all the quaint shops. The Hotel has exceptional local food and great service. Try the Providore for yummy Tasmanian produce. Thanks Sandy for a lovely, welcoming stay... More

Thankyou Pete & Deb so very much for leaving your gorgeous thoughts on TripAdvisor, the Byard is still my favorite suite with the unique view of the Nut, and when the sun pops up it is a perfect spot with a hot cuppa and watch the busy morning wildlife, I am so pleased you enjoyed Stanley it is and always... Myself and my wife discovered The Bayview by driving through Stanley. We couldn't decide from hotel booking sites and the pictures don't do it justice. Such a beautiful guesthouse and the rooms nicely decorated with all amenities for breakfast including a coffee machine . It is in a perfect spot for all attractions and restaurants. Sandy and her husband were... More

In less than 90 minutes Virgin flew my 3 mates and I from Sydney to Launceston Tasmania, for our winter expedition, driving around the island. Thrifty Hire provided a near new Toyota Kluger for the trip, which fitted the bill perfectly for 4 men in their 60's and 70's, all big blokes, and their luggage. We had only booked accommodation... Excellent! Quiet relaxing and a great place to unwind. I would very much like to return to do almost nothing. Excellent crayfish at the local hotel at the lowest prices we found in Tasmania. Very clean and comfortable and complete with excellent proprietors.

Formerly a pub, this old building is load with character and appropriately decorated. Bedrooms/bathroom/loo are upstairs so not suited to those with mobility issues. The Nut is right behind the accommodation, but not visible unless outside...the main access area is some distance away. Host seemed a bit disinterested and unhelpful. Grimy kitchen supplies but everything else in good condition. Wifi... More

Our host was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was only continental but there was enough cereal and toast for us. The wifi worked fine and the password was supplied without us asking. Our bedroom was in an attic, but was nice and big - and very clean. Also, very quiet. Generally, a nice homey feel.

What a magnificent place to stay. We stayed in the old inn with our bedroom upstairs overlooking the bay. We couldn't resist lighting the open fire, all the wood etc was there ready to go. This is the second time we have stayed here, with its history and charm. This hotel offers great views and walking distance to town and beach. Bayview backs onto the local attraction 'The Nut' which you can either walk up or like me take the chair lift. Would happily stay again, next time in Tassie.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1949, The Bayview has had a colourful history. From its humble days as a pub in the early 1970s it was left stripped and abandoned almost on the verge of being demolished. Over the next 15 years it underwent change and renovation into the building it is today....do not judge a book by its cover. Her bold colour assures the Bayview never blends into the background; she stands proud and refuses to be missed, but her interior is undergoing some major cosmetic updating to reflect the history of the building and incorporate some modern creature comforts. Sitting on 3/4 acre of land, the Bayview boasts views from every angle and window, private courtyards verandahs, private balconies and a wandering garden full of trees, flowers and wildlife, so sit back with a hot cuppa, or a glass of wine while the kids play, we are all about family and relaxing and enjoying everything the Bayview and Stanley have to offer! ... more   less
