Stayed at Sorell Barracks for 1 night with it being close to the airport. $30.00 in the taxi which the driver asked why were we not staying at the airport travel lodge. So glad we didn't. Received a really warm welcome and quick check in into our little barracks. The room is big, cosy and has plenty of character. Spotlessly...

Tracey was a lovely lady and greeted us warmly on arrival. We stayed in Sorrel as it was on our way back from Freycinet and relatively close to the airport. The accommodation itself is old, quaint, clean. Had a dated feel. The upstairs unit had low ceilings and narrow spaces, so felt a bit cramped. Breakfast was self serve in...

We were in Barrack 5, a detached room. The room was pretty small but spotlessly clean and had a good shower, bed etc. Breakfast was a basket of fruit and cereals also some decent coffee. Good for one night but not for a long stay.

We were due to head back to the "big island" the next morning so we decided to look for something close to the airport. Chose the Barracks at Sorell. The owner was terrific. Being a B&B, we had a breakfast basket delivered to our room. Unfortunately we were leaving on a 6am flight, so didn't get a chance to enjoy...

We stayed in the loft room at Sorrel Barracks in late April. Lovely spacious rooms and picturesque scenery make for a very pleasant stay. Close walk to the pub, shops and cafes. The hosts are lovely, friendly on arrival and happy to help with anything we needed.

The oldest buildings in town, the upstairs loft was compact but comfortable. The stairs were (as described) very steep and the carpet nails were a bit protuberant, so no bare feet. The sloping ceilings might be a bit low for tall people. The bed was large and we slept well – there is noise from birds on the iron roof...

A pretty ordinary set-up really. What's to do in burned out Sorell? Nothing. For the price of a 5 star joint in the middle of Paris this place is a rip-off in everyway. Probably the worst beds we have ever (tried) slept in. It maybe old but that's no excuse. It is 2015 We defy anyone to find a smaller...

Great place and very friendly service. Can recommend it as an interesting historical stay. Breakfast were good and the town is lovely. Make sure you visit Richmond! The rooms were decorately in line with the period of the building which was enchanting.

Stayed in the two bedroom spa suite (two couples).Great suite plenty of rooom for two couples, basket breakfast supplied more than adequate. Friendly host, value for money, great location close to shops and places to eat, a pub that offers the best "Parmies" in Tassie around the corner. Will stay again when next visiting Hobart.

It was nice to stay in a very old Barrack and think back to what it would have been like for the original inhabitants. However, there are gaps in most doors & windows, so I wouldn't stay here in winter. Nice for a couple but our family of four needed a little more space in the living area (bedrooms were...
