Captain Samuel's Cottage was a lovely place to stay. It had everything that was needed to make it a home away from home. Situated in Ross was idea to see some of the beautiful scenery the central Tasmania has to offer.

The Cottage is very clean, comfortable and warm. There are electric heaters or plenty of wood for the heat box. The beds have wool blankets - 'Onkaparinga Teddy'! - appropriate for a place in Sheep/Wool country. Situated in the main street of Ross, the cottage is convenient for walking all around the interesting historic town or having coffee and french... More

Stayed at one of the cottages with two other couples on a recent visit to Tasmania. Firstly it was great that all of us could share the same bungalow. My wife and I were in the Gardener's Retreat room which was very comfortable and we had our own facilities e.g. microwave, kettle etc and probably the largest bathroom. The bed... More

Loved the cottage, loved the river, loved the location and loved the peaches! Learning the history of the cottage enriched our experience even more. A great place to stay first night off the boat - super comfy beds and great amenities - hope to stay longer next time!

we stayed in the music room in one of these cute cottages in the lovely town of Ross. Although the host was charming, this was a a very average b&b experience. The queen size four poster bed was comfortable but in a smallish room overcrowded with furniture. The breakfast was so disappointing. Tasmanian produce is famously delicious and available everywhere,... More

Absolutely beautiful with it's stone walls and colonial character, felt like we were living in another time. The open fire, four poster bed and antique furniture felt like grandma's house. We took our little dog who was allowed to sleep inside on his bed. The Ross hotel just down the road had the best meals and there is a wood... More

We had pre-booked accommodation at Christopher Hall’s Colonial Accommodation but 3 weeks after we had booked and while we were on holiday they sent us an email saying they were double booked and our booking would not be honored. Obviously we were not impressed but it worked to advantage. We managed to secure accommodation with Colonial Cottages of Ross which... More

Very well presented, felt like turning back the clock 100 years! Located close to shops and cafe, and strolling distance to most attractions. I would recommend Cupid's Nest to anyone looking for a version of our early history with niche modern comforts.

Was great that there were separate bedrooms. Bathroom was a little small but still usable. Rooms were neat and tidy and prices were very reasonable. Was ideally located so that we could walk through the town and stop for coffee or dinner on the way. Beautiful town.

Very comfortable. Stayed 2 nights. As owner isn't present breakfast is left in fridge. We were misinformed as to the room we were in and others had taken part of our breakfast. Had to leave msge for owner ....no response. Not major...but annoying. You pay for a service and expect to receive it Room comfortable. Not serviced for second night.... More
