We stayed 1 night at the Fox and hounds after completing the Three Capes Walk We found the rooms clean and more than suitable for 1 night stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had dinner and drinks at the restaurant which was nice and handy to just stroll back to our room afterwards. I guess the rooms... More

We arrived about 6pm after visiting Port Arthur, and had not pre-booked. Friendly welcome, and we were advised of the short dinner service and bar operating hours. We got a queen size room - which was huge, with high ceilings! The poor little electric heater didn't look like it would make much of a difference. I was very happy to... More

Great spot and close to Port Arthur Historic site which is amazing and highly recommended. They say you need 2 days to see it all and you do! We had a nice room overlooking the river, layout different to most with the bathroom basin being in an area away from the shower/toilet but it worked. Shower/toilet room could be a... More

So disappointed. Whilst this place has all the basics that's about all it has. The rooms are cold. Really cold. And the heating is basically a waste of space. We left it on its highest setting all night and in the morning the room is not at all warm - maybe just the slightest chill taken from the air. The... More

The location is great, yet the service and food is deplorable. Not long after we arrived we asked the receptionist where a good restaurant was, and she basically told us we had no choice but here or felons... Then told us "you are in the country".... I then told her we come from the country implying we expect better ........ More

Plenty of space in the room, a queen bed. Lounge and dining table and all in good order. The room was clean and the was a good size space heater was on for our arrival. Lights not good for reading and the free WiFi was only available in the main building although there was a pay for use hotspot in... More

If We hadn't arrived with someone who had food poisoning & needed to go to bed, we certainly wouldn't have stayed.Even though it had been booked & paid for through travel agent months in advance, we would have moved on. The inappropriately named 2 bedroom apartment looked fantastic from the outside. The 31 we checked into was filthy & musty.... More

Rooms are basic, but all you need. Plenty of atmosphere in the pub, and the food was fabulous! Staff were very helpful also. The setting is beautiful and it's close by Port Arthur with Nubeena not too far away.

As other reviews has mentioned the general hotel is very nice with lovey backdrop view to the ocean, meals at the tavern were plentiful and quickly served by an nice fire. The general room was larger than the normal with a fold out bed for another person with was a nice surprise. My only real complaint was with the supplied... More

I stayed here during the storms that created havoc across eastern Australia in June 2016. No power or communication connection due to trees being down but that didnt stop the fun. The hosts were lovely and I had a fun and very entertaining night of old world talking around the fire. Clean room, great rate and awesome location. Would stay... More
